A Northern Warrior. Make a REALISTIC beard, face, and armor using only ONE KNIFE.

Here you will see slow woodcarving. The entire process took about four hours, and I derived a lot of satisfaction from the work. The face, beard, and weapon: similar carving patterns were present in three previous projects. Look for hints in the video or follow the link, just below the description. For the sculpture, I used one of my favorite types of wood for carving. Whittling buckthorn(?) wood is more challenging than basswood, but I am always pleased with the result. In the forest, old branches with unique patterns are often found, and I couldn't resist carving my small wooden sculpture from them.
The block is 65mm in height and 35mm in width. For the small dwarf, the height is 45mm.
Thank you for your time, and happy carving to you.
I am not a professional woodcarver and, especially, not a master or a teacher. However, I enjoy carving small wooden sculptures. Here, you will find my little simple projects, and I hope they help you relax. You can discover more of my wood carving patterns on my channel and check the Community tab: / @smallwoodensculpture

About my knife:
For wood carving, I used my regular whittling knife which I made myself; the blade length is 40 mm, and the overall length of the knife is 130 mm.
For beginners:
Using a short piece of branch can be dangerous for beginners. So, I recommend trying to use a long and comfortable piece, and trim it at the end.

I'm just paralyzed with getting started because I want to do this but I'm not artistic. I hate the feeling too. I just keep watching the videos you upload on this channel and how to get started.

Carving doesn't always relax me, especially when I make mistakes. That happens often and, sometimes, I lose my motivation. So, it's important to find the reason. Some do it for money, some to make a gift... I love nature, but I'm not a fisherman or a hunter, and that's another one of my reasons. When I don't know how to start, I just sharpen my knife. You learn to sharpen knives very well, or you finally wanting to test its sharpness. And don't push yourself too hard. If you don't start, just keep watching my videos. That, especially, pleases me.
