Use the NATURAL shape of the branch for carving this cat
I used unwanted linden branch scraps, which were not needed for previous projects, for carving tailed cats. This wood carving is easy and inspiring. It's best to carve the tail at the end, as there's less chance of breaking it. If some aspects of the work are unclear, I also carved and painted cats in previous videos: • The best cat - GRUMPY ...
In the video, you can see the block is 45 mm in height and 20-25 mm in diameter. If you measure from the head:
1. Head - 10mm (If I carve a vertical line for the head diagonally, and depending on the type of face).
2. Front paws - 8mm
3. Belly - 15mm
4. And back paws - 12mm
All of this can be increased by making the belly smaller. I just make the back paws larger than the front paws. I also left 15mm for the head, but for this, you need a longer piece of wood (55mm).
Thank you for your time, and good carving to you.
About me and my channel:
I am not a professional woodcarver and, especially, not a master or a teacher. However, I enjoy carving small wooden sculptures. Here, you will find my little simple projects, and I hope they help you relax. You can discover more of my wood carving patterns on my channel and check the Community tab: / @smallwoodensculpture

About my knife:
For wood carving, I used my regular whittling knife which I made myself; the blade length is 40 mm, and the overall length of the knife is 130 mm.
For beginners:
Using a short piece of branch can be dangerous for beginners. So, I recommend trying to use a long and comfortable piece, and trim it at the end.

Very cute cats!😺Good job)
A cutie!
Cool.
Would like to double check the measurements. my first one did not turn out at all. the first line for the head I drew was 10mm my next line was 8 mm from the 10. and the next line is 12 mm from the 10. mine just did not look anyting like your lines. is there a way you could show with a ruler. Love your videos. are you on Facebook or Instagram?

So, thank you for the comment; I will make the changes. Right now, there's enough time only for KZread. If there are any changes, I will definitely post about it in the Community tab. Good carving to you.

@@SmallWoodenSculpture Thank you so much for the info. I just thought 10 mm was so small. and in the video it looks so much bigger then 10. I only have a very hard wood here, Oak and Mazanita. So I bought some bass wood at the craft store and using that.

Oh, I want an oak cat too, but I need to go to a forest. At home, I have several linden trees that need trimming every year, so I can always afford to mess up a few projects. I hope this time you succeed.
