Use a CRACKED piece of branch for carving CROCODILE

I really like this small wooden sculpture. It is simple and feels relaxing to me. From time to time, I carve more variations, and right now, I want to try a new one. The sounds of woodworking and the songs of birds-I truly hope this little wooden project helps you relax too. Predominantly, I carve these little alligators from pieces of basswood. Sometimes, I whittle branches of birch, aspen, and maple. All of them are good for my small wooden alligators. Maple wood is a bit hard for woodcarving, but it yields very good results, and I like it.
For wood carving, I used a cracked piece of branch and my regular whittling knife. In the video, you can see the block is 75 mm in height (you can have it 80-90 mm for a longer tail) and a minimum of 35 mm in diameter, of course, if you want to include an open mouth. The first line for the head is 20 mm, and the second line for the tail is 25 mm. For the main body, I leave 15-20 mm in the center.
This time, I used acrylic paints (except for the black color). First, I painted it with black watercolor, then with a dark green color, sap green, lemon yellow, burnt sienna, scarlet, and white for the teeth. For wood burning, I used a regular candle.
Thank you for your time, and happy carving to you.
About me and my channel:
I am not a professional woodcarver and, especially, not a master or a teacher. However, I enjoy carving small wooden sculptures. Here, you will find my little simple projects, and I hope they help you relax. You can discover more of my wood carving patterns on my channel and check the Community tab: / @smallwoodensculpture

About my knife:
For wood carving, I used my regular whittling knife which I made myself; the blade length is 40 mm, and the overall length of the knife is 130 mm.
For beginners:
Using a short piece of branch can be dangerous for beginners. So, I recommend trying to use a long and comfortable piece, and trim it at the end.

Another nice project! I'll definitely need to try this one. I've already done your turtle and this might be a perfect companion for her.
