What is Pranayama? How it works, benefits and types of pranayama.
I have got this understanding after attending several courses, retreats, knowledge sessions, experience, experimentation and observation.
I would like to express my gratitude to all the organizations that have helped me to gain this understanding. Below are the names of few of them:
1. Patanjali Yogpeeth
2. Art of living
3. Isha
4. Gaia.com
5. Iyengar Yog
Hope this helps you in getting better understanding of Pranayama.

Thank you very much for explaining this with such detail. Also thank you for sharing your wisdom on the topic! Towards the end you talk about living for hundreds of years... I must admit that although I hope to live to a ripe old age, I don’t want to live for hundreds of years. I can barely tolerate watching what we humans do to one another, to the earth and to whatever else that might be around us. It seems there’s nothing we don’t, sooner or later, destroy. I don’t want to witness it for hundreds of years.

@@TheSchoolOfSports oh, you actually care for reviews :D Yesterday i realized that i don't know how to be entertained as i used to focus only on functionality and goals, disregarding attention and everything which doesn't add tangible results to my life. Your video about entertainment was on the top of the search results and watching your video my mind was COMPLETELY blown away. The stupid simple video made me watch it with open mouth and i was able to comprehend everything you said as my monkey mind was occupied with the ridiculous animations. (Which, to be completely honest, is a rare thing nowadays. Other "gurus" might talk about one thing for so long that the actual message gets lost.) You pointed at something and instead of your finger, i looked at "it". Reminds me of the time when i learned about things which i can and cannot manifest, this friend of mine explained it by drawing 3 stick figures on a sheet of paper. No mystical BS, no hazy/ambiguous message, just you talking to my inner child. Should you make more videos like this? Maybe. More importantly, Is life really THIS simple? Or is it just us who search for the most complicated answers to it?... Thank you for this. Ps: check out "casually explained" channel on youtube and see how many views do they have. Same as this video, almost 100k views, congrats!!!❤️🙏

Indeed brother. Breathing is very powerful, but unfortunately it's not taught in school. Think about it: what's the difference between alive and dead? Breath What was the first act of your life? Breath in What will be last act of life? Breath out Breathing is very powerful! To learn pranayama you can check out baba ramdev or sri sri ravi sankar or sadguru. There might be many other organizations that can teach pranayama, but I have explored these 3 and they are very good.

1st. Chi is a chines word for Prana. just as meridians are chines word for Nadis. 2nd. Chakra means a weal and it is essentially the point where 2 or more nadis meet/cross. According to Yoga there are 72000 Nadis and 114 Chakras, 112 being in the physical body. 3rd. source of Prana on this Earth is Sun. the breath is not the source - it is a vehicle, through which Prana is distributed. 4th. blame all emotional and psychological problems on prana blockages in nadis is false. it plays a role, yes, but it is way more complex than just that. 5th. what Patanjali is saying is - control of your Prana is Pranayam. the way to do it - use your breath. 6th. your benefits are just a side effects. real benefit is taking control of your energies and balancing different Vayus, awakening Kundalini Shakti and much more. One such significant more is - now you are ready for Pratyahara. 7th. what you call types of Pranayama are just different breathing exercises, nothing more and nothing less. they are great, but they are not types of Pranayama. there are no types of Pranayama, but if you need to categories - then there is active and passive approach. you start with active(breathing exercises) and you progress to passive (observing) which is superior. In fact, you start with both, just that doing things is easier, then just staying aside and observing. Here is a nice paradox - gaining an absolute control over your Prana, you need to let go of any kind of control over your Prana. summary: not the first and not the last misunderstanding of Pranayama Sadhana as prescribed by Patanjali. but seeing the false and failed descriptions helps me to focus on what is the essence of such practices. So, in a way, I'm thankful.
