This is a great video 💪👍✨
Absolutely wonderful ❤😮😊
Thank U Again Jonni!!! I'm gonna add the cable row laying down. I do those same exercises in that order, except the laying down cable row.
This video should've gotten more views!! Thank you for thus advice, Jonni! I loved the pump I gained.
What can I do if I don't have access to machines

You can still do pullups. Do you have DBs? You can do row varieties. If you look around, surely you can find a place to do some sort of chest supported DB rows. I like to use cables myself, but you don't need them to get a good back workout.

Today's back day, similar to my current routine so I'll give it a try to see how it feels
Love that last one Jonni, I've done an incline bench cable pullover with the ez bar but not flat bench with the V handle ....looks like a dope lat stretch! I'll try it out tomorrow with my new Gripps!🤙🏻

Where did you buy your straps? I want one of those as mine are the long ones that you have to roll on the bar, easy to roll the first one but not the second one, great vid as always btw Jonni keep it up man!

Exactly the same. Difficult angles/tension. Try using an incline bench with an EZ bar or Rope, I go back an forth! It's my last exercise and destroys the Lats

Why decrease intensity of effort on the 2nd & 3rd sets? Why not 3 sets to failure, or even make the last a drop set? What's the rationale?
@JonniShreve
10 күн бұрын
Totally get your question, and it's great. We have a black-and-white view of intensity! So, I get why your questions on not going to failure on the last set instead of the first. But you naturally lose strength and energy as you go deeper into the workout. So while energy is high, we can put that into the setm to faiure, then the next set, TENSION is at its highest rather than trying to use what little energy you have left for our set. But in the end we can increase intensity by making the rep harder, set longer, or weight heavier. whats important is that set to set TENSION stays high.

Deadlifts for me. Start lighter with high reps to begin with. Correct form is everything! Johni has excellent videos on correct deadlift technique.
If you're 60 years old, can you rest 3 minutes between sets?
@Raey_Thoven
11 күн бұрын
3 minutes sound fine. But, only you know how long you need. If you still feel pretty fatigued or not ready for the next set by 3 mins, you can rest for up to 5 mins. There's more variables to be considered, but I'd say this is generally good advice if you're doin things right
@tonysims9892
11 күн бұрын
I'm 55 and the best answer I can offer regarding rest times is to always pay attention to your body, breath, and heart rate. If I'm pushing a particular set really hard, I give myself 30 seconds before I start the rest timer and usually go 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. However, if I'm strength training, it's almost always a 3 minute minimum to 5 minutes rest time. Blood pressure is real thing and be sure to always loosen your straps, wraps, and belts as soon as done to recover faster.
@Capt-Bryan
11 күн бұрын
I am 63. 3 minutes is okay if you need it and are going to total failure. However, just do the minimum that you feel that you need which will vary depending on your exercise. For me, that is a little long using machines but is about right when doing barbell exercises like rows and deadlifts.
Coming to a man’s fitness video to watch his clothes is susssssssss

I've been holding off on getting wraps for so long. Grip is definitely my limiting factor. Especially with tendonitis
@thomasowens4844

Yeah you definitely should use straps if you have weak grip. For me the limiting factor is my back. Even on heavier movements like deadlifts I don't need to use straps. I'm sure one day I'll need them tho

Is it okay to use a supinated grip for pullups?
@brianmendenhall8387

If you want to work more Biceps, go for it. I alternate Wide pronated with the neutral grip
@thomasowens4844
9 күн бұрын
@@brianmendenhall8387 personally I don't feel my biceps at all. I use a closer grip and do stretches partials bc for me when I contract too hard my back rounds and it uses more biceps. I've tried neutral grip a little bit but it feels awkward and I feel stronger with supinated grip which is what I want bc eventually I wanna be able to do weighted pullups/chin ups
Why do you take ur second and third set to 2/3 RIR? Isn't it better to take it closer to failure with every subsequent set?
@thomasowens4844

@@thomasowens4844 So why is he doin it in reverse?
@thomasowens4844
9 күн бұрын
@@Raey_Thoven idk I think he's thinking since you're less tired in the beginning you can and should do more reps but on your last set you have more motor recruitment cells activating and by taking it to failure you will get more growth and by not going to failure on the first 2 you will have more energy to do more reps on your last set
@Raey_Thoven
9 күн бұрын
@@thomasowens4844 This is advice I would follow. Why is Jonni doing it in that order
