"push your elbows to the floor" was the key thing that helped me engage my lower lat, thanks so much man.
The demonstration you did with the bands may just be the most insightful and most simple way I’ve ever seen it be explained/done in my life. You the GOAT
It's funny that this is Jonni's off-season look and it would be most people's dream physique. Good work as always Jonni and all these little tricks to help engage the targeted muscle over time make a massive difference.

Right! It's definitely motivating to keep training hard to look and feel good year round. I'm so glad I discovered his channel about a year ago. His info is so helpful.

He's not natural and wouldn't look like that if he didn't the steroids and hgh for some years
I think I've watched all of your videos and I still learn something new every time. Your cues are always on point.
I've learned more about how to engage my back from you Jonni than from anyone. I'm sitting on the edge of my couch driving my elbows down and pulling back and just that movement is firing my lower lats like crazy. Fire 🔥
I just did my back workout today, and I've been using your techniques, and I really feel it in my lats. THANK U FOR SHARING!!!
Thank you Jonni! I'm currently doing your PPL and loving it, I struggle with my back "mind - muscle" connection, but videos like these really help a lot! Keep up the great work!
Your off-season look is great! You're on point on your diet Jonni! Need this video since I needed something simple to get my whole back
Great stuff man 👏🏾
I love your videos, always educational and helpful, but I also love your humor. Keep up the great work!
This was sooo helpful! Been struggling to hit my lats and this shoulder-down cue DEFINITELY is something I'm gonna try
Thanks JONNI!!!
You do the best content on the mechanics of actually activating target muscles. Great stuff mate!
Another week another dime! Get the week started Jonni 💪
i cannot stress enought how important is to have GOOD q's for feeling the work you're doing
Great demo on how to engage lower lats! Helped a ton.
You're the man Jonni!
OMG I love you for making this video. Lower lat is the biggest struggle I have.🙌🏼
Holy cr@p, this is excellent! Thank you!!! Waiting for the high pull video next
All your training tip videos helped me acheieve some quality muscle gains no doubt!!!
Great video
Change it up a little. Take a cloth belt and tie the ends together and hook it to the cable and slide your hand through it and hold it and concentrate on just bringing your elbow down to your side. Do single arm pull downs while sitting straight up . Do some sitting sideways , do some sitting on a bench about 5,6 feet away facing the pully and sitting sideways. At 64 5'10 173, i started doing these and noticed some good growth. I do some sets at a lighter weight one week and the next week i start light and finish up heavy.
Thank you!
Jonni you are amazing your videos are amazing ❤
Hey Johnny 👋, great content.
Will give this a try when I go back to the gym on Thursday 👍💪
Elbows to the ground🤯 ik it sounds simple to most but omg that has me engaging my lats so much more! Tomorrow is back day for sureee😈
Sometimes, a simple cue is all you need. Thanks jonni
I love these videos. My lower lats definitely need work!
Thanks man!
Literally as soon as you said you should feel your lower pec and lats I IMMEDIATELY though of the standing lat bar pushdowns. That exercise always pumps up my pecs/lats with that same feeling
thanks jonni for explaining the technique. Been wondering if my technique is correct cheers man...
Great stuff! I have a taller torso, so I really need to focus on my lower lats more!
Lovely demonstration ❤😮😊
4:50 I just had a mouth full of spaghetti at this moment, bursted out laughing and food everywhere. Thanks Jonni
Thanks, great video. More like this about technique. I'd love to see a guide to cable pulley mounts, what else you can get out of them besides the basics.
yyyyeeeesssssss!!!!!!love this!!!!!!
Great video man ! I have been doing this exercise completely wrong man smh
wow thank you for this. could u make more videos like this? like a body part thats hard to find a connection for beginner?
Now I know what I have been doing wrong. Thank you!
Try to pull your elbows towards your hip bone is the quickest way to explain that ✌🏻
That band routine is also an excellent way to train your mind muscle connection on how to engage your lats for good form on deadlifts
Bravos Gym Jony
I love the picture of bobby orr on the wall
you're the man jean eh
First time im watching you. Have to say you have an awsome voice! And good at describing. Is the a video for rear delt And upper cheast?
I wanna see the next related video (you mentioned at the end of this one)
I like the band thing
Pulling with my pointer finger...pointed, and letting the force sit on my ring and pinky finger really helps keep my biceps out of the movement.
Can you do one for upper back/mid traps?
Damn Johnny 😂
Want video on upper lats
*Donkey from Shrek voice: "My lats! My lats! I can't feel my lats!"
do you think that fir chest support row (not narrow grip but more wide) this que of pushing down is also valid?
I put straps above my elbows and feel it more than gripping and pulling.
My back is the one muscle group I just can't seem to get a good mind muscle connection with. I tried you tips today and it helped but still don't seem to have the same connection as every other muscle in my body. Any other tips?
Bro tried to do a Mike Isratael style metaphor and bombed XD
Quick! Someone send Big Ramy this video 😅
Salsa is a lat movement?
So, on one of your other videos about a closed grip row, you had shown that we want to bend over as far as possible to get the maximum stretch and range of motion. However, on this one, it seems a bit different. Granted, you do note that The more stationary position is for beginners. My question is should I be utilizing this same technique with the more advanced rowing of being fully extended in the starting position (Because it seems like I'm already doing what you have described in this video unless I'm missing something)? Or do you consider this exercise to be different from the fully extended close grip cable row in your previous video?
"Probably onto something" 😂
I still don't understand that first part. I have watched it 3 times. I do hangs or partial lat pulls to engage my lats. But i also have a cardboard paper for lats, so I guess I'll try this out my next back day.
So question. Are your abs suppose to be engaged as well?
I have a problem: my right lats is smaller than the left one, but I don't feel uncomfortable while I'm doing exercise - everything feel equal. Could it be because these mussels attached asymmetrically? Right now I'm doing additional isolation exercise on this part, but idk would it help or not(

Yeah, I'd say so. If there is no perceived difference in strength, then there's a good chance it's due to muscle insertions. Isolating the "smaller" part should help as long as you still have gains to make, but if you want to do something like a bodybuilding competition then it will more practical to downsize the larger muscle. But other than that, if the difference is not noticeable to anyone other than yourself staring in the mirror, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I felt similarly about my uneven abs at some point. There might also be the possibility that the smaller muscle should be trained differently due to a muscle fiber difference (so lower the voltage and increase the intensity, or vice versa), or that it might need more stimulus to grow when comparing to the other one. In the end, you should experiment with it a bit.

@@leonro thank you very much!
So, I am not a bodybuilder by any means, BUT i learned to feel and focus on specific muscles by practicing posing... weird right? LOL it works!

well, it helped me to learn to flex muscles individually, mind muscle connection. It's really hard to do! you'll be sweating after just 3 or 4 minutes. Just saying... lol

My lats, my lats, my lats, I can't feel my lats.
I gotta work on my under boob 😅
This guy is suck walking W
Respectfully that is not how the lower lat is engaged. You showed upper and mid lat workouts.
