Artsy Omni Mistakes were made but I say it was worth it since that Klonoa art was fan-freakin-tastic regardless, even though it was a bummer that it was fake. XP Better luck next DLC pack Klonoa.

ALSO if I remember correctly, ubisoft themselves said that they would make an official statement about the matter right before omni made the video. This potiential statement was also why i and many others were skeptical of the grinch leak. Since it proved that it doesn't have to be real to cause Corporations to make a statement

I FREAKING CRIED WHEN IT WAS CONFIRMED FALSE THATS HOW MUCH I THOUGHT IT WAS REAL

I was following Smash news closely when this "leak" came to a head and I 100% thought it was real... for like 10 minutes because I discovered a day later after the creator admitted that it was a hoax. The clatter this thing drummed up was crazy. People looked over every other "leak" with much more scrutiny, because if this guy could do it this well then who else could be doing it even better? These were the days.

Just a minor thing but I personally think the Mewtwo portrait sort of looks off, at least when compared with the revealed Mewtwo design at the time. Otherwise is definitely one of the most real out there

I think that if I was around at this time, I would've thought that Rayman was convincing, but I think I would've passed it off as fake when seeing Mewtwo. At least to me, it just does not look like his render in the reveal trailer and in the actual game. Rayman does look convincing enough though.

The Mewtwo render was what tipped me off that this was fake, but at the time I was still super impressed with how good the rayman render was and how much effort went into this.

Just watching the making of this leak in detail has me mesmerized. Wasn't around when this leak came out, but rip to the ones who wanted rayman.

I completely fell for this back in the day, hook, line and sinker. After this leak I have since never been completely convinced by any other leak for anything. Heck, this leak was the only reason I even had a sliver of doubt once the Grinch leak came out.

I remember this leak so damn well. Rayman is my number 1 favorite video game character and this leak just broke me, when the creator came out and confirmed it being fake ... and yet Rayman isn't in Smash. Maybe one day. The dream will not die.

I remember hearing about this after becoming more invested in Smash with the release of the 3DS Demo, and just being blown away. INDIVIDUAL FRAMES. EDITED. That’s dedication. And Rayman being in Smash would just be plain cool!

For me, I thought the mewtwo render didn’t really match up with the trailer, the Rayman one though looked legit

But for real tho, Smashified (now rebranded as Curiomatic) makes really good content. I highly recommend their channel.

Honestly I'd love Rayman as a character, but in all seriousness I'd hope he gets his "Rayman 3" look as opposed to his "Origins/Legends" look. Actually now that I think about it, I'd love it if his alt costumes were Rayman 1, 2, 3, Dark Rayman, and then Origins/Legends.

I definitely believed and when he came out that it was fake, he got a subscription immediately. Really great channel.

When I saw this I honestly believed it. I had something telling me it was fake, but just looking at without thinking, it's still one if the most convincing leaks to this day

What was more interesting is that Ubisoft caught wind of this and they said they were going to make an announcement the following week before Artsy made the reveal

This hoax was the sole reason I was skeptical of the Grinch leak. After this was the point when I truly understood, that anyone could make a fake leak.

I knew this leak was fake because Mewtwo's render looked off compared to every other character and I could tell that it was the same image as his trophy because of his face.

This would have probably mostly convinced me. Video evidence, as you said, is more believable than only photos, and this one was really well made.

I remember running into Artsy Omni(lives in same town) weeks after this all went down. Pretty hilarious xD

The only leak besides the ESRB I believed and it hurt when I learned it was fake... I hope he gets in someday! I'm so glad people use Rayman's Theme from Arena often tho, not only it's a bop, but it's also an underrated game, honestly! If he gets in Smash I hope this theme gets in! (Along with remixes from other Rayman games, especially 1 imo)

It convinced me and its like the only leak I can recall falling for that ended up being false. I never for a second thought the Grinch Leak was real and found it way to out there to be real.

I was the most hype for this leak than almost every character reveal (only k rool made me more hype). I was litterally heartbroken when it turned out to be a leak. So close and yet so far for one of your favorite characters in gaming...

I feel like nowadays that no one can be trusted anymore when it comes to leaks.

I think people also say that ultimate's battlefield there is a taller ice pillar and if you look closer it looks like rayman is in there

If Rayman was in SSBU his final smash would be All the nymths circle around the stage while powering him, he has to attack enemies to charge his punch in 5 seconds,if he charges it enough he will release a powerful wind up punch that covers the entire stage ground like if you want it to be his final smash ;)

I was sold until a friend told me that Artsy Omni revealed it as a hoax. I even doubted him at first. The hoax was amazing

ArtsyOmni singlehandedly raised the bar for fake leaks. Everyone now had to get much more creative and interesting. We eventually got that with the Grinch Leak, but to think this has stood the test of time as an amazing fake is still great work.

I was a little skeptical, but I almost entirely fell for it. Literally the only thing that threw me off were the eyebrows, but I figured that was just a stylistic choice for his new design. But yeah, he totally got me. And I'm glad because that's how I found out about Omni's other work!

I didn’t believe, not because I somehow saw the tiny flaws, but because I didn’t think the portraits looked right (and I tend to be a bit skeptical about leaks in general).

i got smash for the 3DS but i was never much of a gamer. Even *I* heard about rayman supposedly being in the game. I told my brother about it and everything lol

I was around and a part of the Smash 4 hype when this leak happened. Rayman was the first character I voted for in the Smash Ballot and I instantly believed this leak once I saw this video footage. And man, I was both disappointed and impressed when the truth was revealed. Still hoping Rayman makes it as DLC in Ultimate!

I fell for it as well. I'm surprised I wasn't suspicious about the Mewtwo icon. Looking at it now something looks off about it, like it doesn't match.

after seeing Assassins Creed and Rabbids getting Mii Costumes at the end of Fighter 5's Direct there isn't a single doubt in my mind that Rayman is going to be a Playable Fighter this time around for the Second Fighters Pass hes 100% going to be Playable this time around and im willing to bet at least 100$ on that as well its Rayman's chance to finally shine in the world of Smash and its time for him to meet up with the characters he was meant to be with ever since the Smash 4 days and hell id even say since 1995 your friends are waiting for you Rayman in due time you will get your Smash Invitation please be patient

This pretty much explains every reason I don't believe the "CaccoMallow leak" at *ALL* with it being so out of date And remember "Anyone can fake a leak" I didn't fully believe it because he didn't actually click on Rayman and show gameplay when there's no real reason they wouldn't if it was actually real

this leak is the reason i have trust issues of smash leaks. it's also the reason rayman has been my most wanted character for smash for 5 years now

I was only a kid at the time and I didn’t know what leaks were, so I saw this and completely thought it was real. I waited for a long time after getting Smash 4 on both Wii U and 3DS for Christmas one year wondering when Rayman was coming out. I loved Rayman (and still do. He’s still my most wanted to this day!) and was eagerly awaiting his arrival. Like I said, I was a kid and knew *nothing* about Smash. I didn’t even know the series existed outside from my dad not letting me have Brawl as a kid because it was a 12 rated game (despite my argument that it had Mario in it so it couldn’t be that bad) and my first true introduction to the series was the Duck Hunt reveal trailer which I *adored* and constantly rewatched. Smash 4 was my first Smash game, so I was very new to the series. I was also new to the internet, so because of this I thought that Rayman was coming at some point, but I was disappointed to see that it was a “fake leak”. After doing more research into what a leak actually was, I fully understood....Not. I just found more fake leaks that I thought were real; Some of them were obviously jokes, like Shrek or the goddamn Happy Meal Box getting in and I completely believed it all! It was only until I became more versed in the community that I learned more and more, and in 2017, 2018, 2019 all the way up to today, I was riding the hype train with more knowledge than I could have ever imagined back then about Smash. I’m glad I fell for all those leaks. It made me realise that life is full of ups and downs, truths and lies, excitements and disappointments and that it’s all about learning. If I hadn’t fallen for all of those fake leaks so long ago, I most likely wouldn’t have delved deeper into the Smash community, and boy am I glad I did. It’s really weird going from seeing a reveal trailer for a dog and duck I vaguely knew about one day on KZread to eagerly watching (and crying at) the reveal of the iconic bear and bird duo, Banjo & Kazooie, live last year. Without this amazing community, I’d have never known about *any* of this. Sure I vaguely knew of Banjo-Kazooie but still. I definitely wouldn’t have been holding back from screaming over some 20 odd year old, forgotten Donkey Kong villain joining the fray. But anyway, I’m thankful for this leak. It helped me grow and it also helped me realise.... God I was a dumb kid, wasn’t I?

I have never saw this, and have to give thumbs up to the creator for doing a good job with this model

having poor eyesight makes this leak even more believeable...

i wanted rayman and when i saw this i lost my shit told all my friends and then had to do the walk of shame into school after it was announced fake

I know when I first saw it I thought it was pretty convincing,but since I had been very skeptical about any leaks ever since the Brawl days I think I had taken a "fake until officially confirmed" mentality on it. It was definitely one of the best fake leaks that had ever been done,and even the best leaks for Ultimate haven't topped it if you ask me.

Grinch leak be like - "Am I a joke to you?"

The thing that made it fake was how Mewtwo looked and his placement. I knew the DLC fighters would go at the end and it looked nothing like his model.

The ray man leak was big but the grinch leak made a bigger impact on me
