The "Karasu" Balisong

Фильм және анимация

"Karasu" is a 24cm balisong knife that takes its name from the Japanese word for "Raven".
Ravens are often linked with mysticism, and some people view them as bad omens due to their eerie croak and dark plumage. However, the symbolism of ravens goes beyond these myths and stories.
In many cultures, they are seen as messengers of the gods. For instance, the Norse god Odin's two ravens named "Huggin" and "Munnin" traverse both the physical and spiritual realms.
For Native Americans, ravens are part of their creation stories and are associated with life, transformation, wisdom, and guidance.
The inspiration for creating this piece came from a dream in which I saw a raven perched on a tree branch. After researching the symbolism of ravens, I learned that seeing a raven in a dream often signifies an upcoming transformation or personal growth. It can also represent balance and harmony in the universe, as ravens embody both creation and destruction.
The blade of "Karasu" is made from a steel file and has a recurved profile that resembles a talon.
The handle is constructed with an open-type brass housing, with bolsters and a latch made from the same material.
The scales are made from kamagong and narra wood.
The most distinctive feature of this piece is the sculpted tang that depicts the raven perched on a tree branch. This design serves as an amulet of the mystical Raven, a spirit guide that represents wisdom, balance, self-discovery, and growth.
