In this video, we’re going to compare the blood type diet to the body type diet. The blood type diet claims that your optimal diet is determined by your blood type. The research behind the blood type diet isn’t very sound.
To eat right for your blood type, you should follow the following dietary guidelines:
•Type A- vegan, plant-based diet
•Type B- Mostly plant diet with some meat, avoiding wheat, corn, chicken, and pork
•Type AB- Seafood, tofu, dairy, beans
•Type O- High protein, some fruit, Paleo diet
The body type diet focuses on 4 primary body types and is rooted in endocrinology. There are four main body types:
•The adrenal body type
•The liver body type
•The ovary body type
•The thyroid body type
The adrenal body type is affected by high levels of cortisol, which causes a sagging belly. The liver body type is caused by damage to the liver or a fatty liver. This can cause a protruding belly or a condition called ascites in which fluid accumulates around the midsection.
The ovary body type is characterized by estrogen dominance, which tends to cause weight gain in the hips and thighs. If you have a thyroid body type, you have a slow thyroid and will likely gain weight all over.
If you’re following the body type diet, everyone starts out on Healthy Ketosis and intermittent fasting. After two weeks on this plan, you focus more on a diet specific to your body type.

I was eating healthy, no sugar, no dairy, no gluten, no processed foods or alcohol worked out... and was having gut issues, fatigue, bloating, headaches.... starting following Blood Type diet (I'm type O) and I felt great! I was actually eating ALOT of avoid foods before. I've been following it for a few years now and I definitely feel best on it. I would recommend for anyone to give Blood Type diet a try

The Blood Type approach has helped me tremendously. For me, it was not about losing or gaining weight but about which foods had an inflammatory effect on my gut. I am O. I have always had problems with beans and peas, brassica foods always caused bloating, churning and gas, I thrived on a diet low in gluten. Understanding which foods work and don’t work for your blood type is crucial. Many people of African descent are O. Many Os are lactose intolerant. I definitely resonate with the blood type diet, although it seems like everyone and their mom is out to debunk it these days. That's fine. The more research and questioning, the better. But before people throw it out completely because some dude on the internet says it's not legit (correct spelling), I would suggest you actually try it out first. I'm type O and it absolutely makes a difference in my overall health to cut out wheat, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol and to include meat in my diet. When I was vegan for a year in my 20's my health deteriorated rapidly. I developed Celiac disease and my body couldn't hold onto any nutrients, even after cutting out wheat. It was only when I dropped the dogmatic vegan mentality and reintroduced meat that my body started to heal. I'm responsible and mindful about meat consumption now. I go for grass raised, wild caught and organic meats and I only consume meat in small portions 2-3 times/week. When it comes to the blood type diet, don't knock it 'til you try it.

After years of taking a statin drug, exercising, and eating what is promoted as a healthy diet, I was diagnosed as prediabetic with a HgA1C of 6.0. Going to a naturalist doctor, I stopped taking the statin drug and followed a keto diet. My blood sugars came under control but my cholesterol went up to over 325. I tried low sat fat diet but was consuming low fat milk, whey, and cauliflower. I was also fasting. After starting the type O diet and stopped fasting (I drink a plant based protein drink before going to bed and within half hour upon arising in the morning), my cholesterol dropped to 250. My blood pressure is no longer borderline high either. I rarely check my blood sugar because HgA1C was down to 5.6 and spot checks are in normal range. I am also back to endurance running which I haven't been able to do for about two years. This is like a miracle for me due to inherited hyperlipidemia. I have hopes that my cholesterol will continue to drop as my body heals. I am a firm believer in the blood type diet because it is the only thing that has worked for me.

What latitude do or did you live at when doing the two diet? Did you do IF with Keto as well as BTD? The Biology of Belief can be a factor. Genetically some people are noted as being more prone to the Placebo Effect. A lot matters to elimination of processed foods, Seed Oil, High glycemic foods, and plant food toxins. Actually there are many more factors people have never considered. Consider the work of Jack Kruse MD.

I disagree with Dr Bergman. My health changed dramatically once I understood which foods I should avoid eating and what kind of exercise I should be doing for my particular blood type. I'd always eaten a predominantly plant-based diet - organic and as natural as possible with lots of strenuous exercise - but when I read and digested ('scuse pun!) Dr P D'adamo's books I then realised what I'd been missing all those years!

Wow, who knows what to believe? I switched to the blood type diet to try and eliminate by acid reflux. I am type A blood type. I eliminated all red meat, all shellfish, all pork. I eat some vegan meals, but mostly still eat chicken or fish with meals. Results: I went from 150 pounds (5’8” Male, age 67) to 133 pounds. My body fat dropped from 17% to 12%. Acid reflux better but not perfect. I probably only achieve about 80% of the diet, but I have not had red meat now for 7 months. I had to cut out a lot of my favorite foods doing this diet. I will also have to say that I went from taking two prescribed PPI (proton pump inhibitors) and 16 gaviscon tablets a day, that were no longer helping my GERD. To now taking no PPIs or OTC acid reducers etc…

I’m blood type A+ and my most frequent cravings are for fatty dairy (anything creamy, buttery or cheesy), breads, and salt (I eat relatively healthy, but I tend to over-salt when I cook, and have have problems with water retention and bloating). Once in a while I will crave red meat, like a steak or something, but I don’t eat a lot of meats in general, though I do eat eggs with a generous dash of Parmesan daily. I rarely crave sweet stuff, and if it happens it’s usually during my period, and it’s always the same craving, either ice cream/frozen-yogurt, or some creamy pastry like cream puffs or a creme/custard filled donut. I’ve never craved vegetables, though I do eat a good amount of veges daily, especially red veges like tomatoes and red bell peppers. I read abit on the blood type diet, and a lot of the foods that I eat daily and feel great on are on the ‘don’t’ list (like tomatoes for instance) for type A, so I don’t buy it one bit. Breast milk isn't the direct reason why babies are in a state of ketosis, it's the natural surge of growth hormone among others that are. Breast milk from a healthy mother gives the baby all the nutrients and energy it needs for natural, healthy growth and bodily functions in the baby's early months, which naturally gets adjusted with time in terms of nutrient ratios. Breast milk is also the most compatible food with the beneficial bacteria the baby gains in its early days, because both bacteria and food come from the same "source".

As an A-, veggies work for me. Tried keto with tons of meat. Am on 7-day detox. Very low meat. Scrambled egg, lots of veggies, a little oil. Acv too. Have discovered sea moss. By day 6, have lost 6.2 lbs. 1 day is no solids. I'm not starving so myself so I will see if I can do this for 30 days. And gradually add a little more meat. Hoping this also kicks my sugar addiction. So far so good. Also have researched Dr Sebi also who talks about sea moss. I also do 30 min cardio and 10 min strength. Walked 7 miles today. It's nice to have a win.

When I worked with hundreds of people across a week, I could pick if someone is a BG O or A just by looking at them. So I realised there's something to it, even if the formal science hasn't caught up yet. I tell all my clients that the science of the BG eating is not complete (like a lot of our understanding about our bodies and Nature) but it's going in the right direction. I often put them on their BG diet to start reducing inflammation while we await the results of pathology and naturopath testing from which we can then personalise their diet. 🧐💪

I've only just found you and am grateful, as hubby has struggled for decades. Everyone thinks he's a beer drinker because of his tummy - but he only drinks a glass of wine or champagne at Christmas and / or birthdays, and that's about it. We both work full-time and have 3 kids - busy life. I am exhausted when it comes to meal preparation, though I'm a decent cook. And that's the issue. I actually did the food combining diet decades ago (for health reasons) and looked fabulous until hubby (then fiance) returned from 6 months interstate and thought I looked great, but hated the diet. Then I found the Blood Group Diet (again for health reasons like migraines and hay fever) and I'm type A and he's type O. It turns out that the foods recommended made us both feel amazing... except I was always cooking 2 x meals and I just can't! It's exhausting! Then we got very ill in a contaminated home and I found the Body Ecology Diet (again for health) and it said to do (of all things) both the Food Combining and Blood Group Diets, and in addition to that, there was lots of stuff about fermentation. That diet (bits of it - I couldn't do it all) kept me alive long enough to escape the contaminated home alive, with my hubby and 3 kids. Only one pet survived that house. We've done the 17 Day Diet a few times and I always lose weight successfully but hubby relies on me to control everything, including cooking. The kids won't eat that stuff, so again I'm back to cooking 2 x meals per night, and it's just not sustainable. So I'm really interested in something a whole family can do where I can keep us all healthy without cooking multiple meals! It's not that I can't maintain a diet - I can if I'm not overwhelmed with cooking the second I step inside the front door, where that cooking goes on for ages due to multiple meals! So something family friendly would be GREAT! Luckily my kids are nearly all teens now, so they're not fussy like really little ones. However, they all have their different tastes. One hates meat but will eat chicken if push comes to shove. The other hates meat except for beef. The other likes meat. One likes my salad with home-made salad dressing (olive oil, apple cider vinegar, crushed garlic clove, bit of wholegrain or brown mustard, whisked). The other hates salad dressing. The other doesn't like salad. It drives me crazy. Then pizza becomes an option again.

The eating for blood type information is very interesting. Something I’m going to look into more. I don’t see why a persons blood type isn’t relevant to their diet. Our blood type must have an impact. It’s maybe the reason some people do well on certain diets and some people do not. I don’t think there is a one size fits all approach that works for everyone. And maybe it’s because of our differences in blood type. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Dr Berg!

As soon as I cut out the veggies that I wasn't supposed to eat for my blood type the bloating immediately went away and I gained so much energy back it was incredible . I documented everything and then shared it with everyone . Within just one month 24 women that were having the same issue as me followed the blood type and the same thing happend . I strongly disagree with Dr Berg on this subject . When I read this book, I had personally experienced problems with the foods it says I should avoid. I'm type O+, and citrus would give me hemorrhoids. Lactose makes me constipated and increases my phlegm, etc. All foods he said I shouldn't eat had always given me problems. Also, Type O+ blood is more acidic, and those foods to avoid increase acidity. The authors testing was from his own observations with his patients. His book changed my life. Dr Berg is too critical of this book. But, otherwise, l follow Dr Berg's advice.

Right away I didn't like this video because he says there is no way our blood type can affect our personality/mood. That is a very bold statement with no evidence... We know so little about the human body and things we once thought were facts we find out aren't true many years later... I don't agree that it is just because they are eating healthier. I know some ppl who are great on a vegan diet and others who are withering away. Myself I am prone to anemia, I tried going vegetarian once and was so exhausted and sickly. I read this book and now eat lots of meat plus take iron when needed, eat no wheat and lots of veg, and feel a lot better. Remember Doctor, you don't know everything and you could be wrong. Did you read the book, because it has a number of citations in the back and as well as reading the appendix? The diets types are based on how lectins impact the health of each blood type. The book is basically a meta-analysis of his research and his father's. You do a great job of linking physiology with diet which is important to know.

Dr. Berg, have you done any videos that discuss the effects of EMF/RF fields on the human body, and is there a way to measure the alleged damage caused by over exposure, and if over exposure indeed causes damage, how do we mitigate it and help the body heal?

Wondering about red meat, I do love it! Is the blood type dit a fad, from your educated point of view! Truly enjoy and appreciate your channel!

Thank you for all the wonderful videos. I had a question about my hands and nails which I hear may be blood related. One of my hands is larger than the other and the nails on the larger one are a lot more difficult to cut. I remember when I was younger one side of my body would come out in rashes and when that side cleared up the other side would come out in rashes. My tonsils were removed and it did not happen again. Are they related? Thanks.

Would love to know the best way to test for gut permeability and also gluten sensitivity, my daughter has had hashimotos since she was around 8 years old and will still eat gluten on occasion, she has never had severe symptoms so she doesn't understand the significance of avoiding certain foods like gluten. She stopped growing around the age of 8 and had delays in her tooth development but after she went on meds she grew to normal height and weight. She is 24 now and appears pretty healthy however I am concerned with long term use of thyroid medication, she takes a combo of armour and synthetic t4.

Videos suggestions: 1) How your healthy keto diet and IF can help to reduce bad cholesterol for someone with high cholesterol. 2) If someone wants to combine blood body type O diet with Keto diet and IF, what that person should eat? 3) What to eat to detox while doing keto diet and IF, if possible? 4) If someone has a petite body type... how would you adapt your suggestions on how much vegetables/proteins/fat to eat daily doing your keto and IF diet?

Have add to the conversation....I have always leaned towards more plant based, eating only minimal meat products. Recently with all the hype of Keto/Paleo, I decided to try it consistently for 3 months...., SO much intestinal issues as I don't think I can digest the meat very well. I do not enjoy meat! Kind of makes me gag! So, just yesterday I decided to go back to whole foods plant based....it works for me and I am blood type A+. The relief is huge....no more following media hype!

Could you address calcium deposits in hands and finger joints that deform the fingers in older folks. I assume they are related to vitamin/mineral imbalances or deficiencies but would like further info on how to prevent and eliminate them. My baby fingers have calcium nodules in the joints, and now are starting in the toes. They hurt much less on keto, but seem to keep slowly developing. Would autophagy help these?

I wanna learn more about different types of cancer, tumors and the hormones they give off, specifically the pituitary tumor and how it contributes to hormonal Imbalance... The link between Arcromegly and bone growth, and how to Manipulate the cell cycle 😜

Dr Berg could you do something covering the most popular exercise regimes and analyse which ones are best (for your body type) and if any of them are not recommended? E.g. pilates, Insanity, P90X, PIYO, kettlebells, running generally, fartlek training. I do a mixture of these and I find some don't generate the results I am looking for and I don't know if that's my body type or whether that form of exercise is a waste of time.
