Really cool to watch you getting this done. Very similar to the one we are doing. The loft made doing the rafters and roof possible, otherwise it was scary high. Good work, best wishes

Push the roof two additional feet, you will appreciate the extra space making the second floor more usable.

One of the best I've seen so far. Knows his limitations and should give himself more credit. Lovely kids as well but wouldn't expect from a couple like them. CABIN BUILD 3 MUSIC The music came with our video editing software. First song is Lori Seker - Adventure Second Song is Eldar Kedem - Present Moment - You and Me Third song is Ryan Jones - Blink Fourth song is Little Maps - Out the Blue

The funny thing is I have a 5'x8'. But its got junk on it right now. Ill probably take your advise and employ it for the project.

A header is the thicker beam above the window or door that transfers the load around the window or door opening.

John Kidd you also built the one you did make incorrectly. The header needs to rest on a jack stud in order to carry the load to the floor. The way you’ve made it, the weight of the roof will be resting on the nails or screws that are holding the header up. The shear strength of those fasteners is likely not sufficient. Especially if you live where the roof will be subject to snow loads.

@@rogermurph101 Yes I know I'm lacking jack studs. What you can't see yet is the external framing which is gunna share the load. Plus 12-12 roof with a 5 foot half span isn't gunna cast much load. But I appreciate the input. And according to my wife I'm alway screwing up. Lol. So keep an eye on me! Thanks for watching.
