Quarantine Cabin Build 7
Фильм және анимация
The 7th installment of our cabin build in the woods during quarantine. In this video we put girts around the outside of the building (this is what our board and batten siding will nail to) and we begin the Tyvek Home Wrap.

Great to see a family working and playing together. The wild berry picking reminded me of my youth, when I was little Dad taught me where to look, that learned Mom sent me out to harvest them myself. You stirred up some fond memories from back in the 60’s, thanks.
Every now and then I hear a bit of a New Orleans accent. .... thanks for your vids. Dont watch TV ...and this is now one of my favorite shows. 😎👍🏽
Your story gives inspiration to those who are planning to live in rural. We would love to share this with our customers who bought vacant land from us and planning to live away from the city. They will surely get awesome ideas from your videos.

That's a healthy crop of wineberries you have there.
On a building that small, the windows and doors should let enough air through that it won’t be an issue. Great job!

Looking great John ! And I agree with not over thinking those soffits. Been crazy hot humid in Maine for past couple months too. And you're making good progress considering u work outside most of the day. Those extra projects suffer for me too. Lol. Thanjs for sharing. Stay safe. And I'm already looking forward to the next progress update. Lol

Man I can't tell you how much that means to me! We are kind of new to this KZread thing. It take about the same time to edit the videos as to do the work. Lol. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos and the cabin is looking nice. Roofs should be vented. Plunge cut some slots maybe.

Thank you! Besides being a Firefighter part time I am also a RN in a large hospital. It is not a PANDEMIC it is a PLAN-DEMIC! The virus has been patented! That alone should have everyone screaming. You cannot patent a naturally occurring virus. The genome when studied contained HIV, SARS-1, MERSA and MALARIA which is why the hydroxychoroquine medication worked...because it is an anti malaria medication. Also it takes a virus on average 700 years to go from 1 generation to the next generation. It only took SARS-CV1 10 years to change to SARs-CV2 which is IMPOSSIBLE!
Great video keeping a fire going with smoke around will keep some mosquito away am new here love the starting looks delicious

I was curious about what you were going to do on the soffit. I have the same setup and was thinking of blocking it off too. I'm sheathing my roof with 19/32" (as well as the walls) and then putting a heavy sealing underlayment on top then laying the metal. I shouldn't have to worry about moisture intrusion. Our cabins are similar but completely different uses. I am so deep in the woods that I wanted to beef it up in case a tree decides to fall on it...maybe it will hold.

Screw the tin down a lot! I have a horse run-in the previous owners built where they screwed the tin to the plywood and the wind is pealing it off. Thanks for watching!

@@johnkidd2067 Thanks, I will. Going with the thicker plywood will help that as well.

If a tree falls on your house it won't hold. Nothing will hold a tree off

@@russelllocke1404 I've seen houses hold trees many times. Was an arborist for 15 years. I've also seen some big trees go through houses.
It's looking good keep it up, getting it dryer in gah to feel good? Much love from So.Cal.💟

I don't see any k bracing of wind bracing cut into the walls. How do you plan on keeping the walls from racking ?
@johnkidd2067

We will see how it feels after the exterior sheathing. If its still in need I'll use steal flat strap in an x pattern.
Facia is called a square cut plumb cut would B on the angle of the roof pitch. You could have used 2"x4" to extend the rafters looks good jk

Are you the John Kidd who was the NFL kicker?
Go with the 3" round soffit vents. Hole saw the holes now or after and slip them in. Not rocket science. Call me when you want more solutions, and those trees near the cabin taken down. Be sure to vote in November.
Read the description while the intro was playing and read "girts" as "girls". Worried there for a minute.

If I may you are building a ballon frame structure without fire stops in the walls. Extremely dangerous.

Cool vid. You should rename to Democrat ElectionFraud Virus.
