This is a great guide. It's nice to learn about how you're developing the land after you bought it. We're going to start sending our customers to this video so they can learn more about what it takes to develop their own land.

Looking great John ! And totally on the same page with why / why not on the headers. Makes perfect sense especially with building not being extremely wide to begin with. And if that was one of those new to us wasps / bee / whatever they are I'd be screaming like a girl too !!! GooooodNESSS lol. Stay safe and thanks for the update.

Looking good. I like how your loft floor is attached. Full length vertical studs and knee walls. I do think your going to have major issues with condensation with your skylights. Just like the inside of a green house.

Your welcome and I saw that bee it was hugh! I'd get 2 of those sticky green bee/wasp traps and put one on each side of the cabin to keep those pesky beasts away from where your working. Good luck! Much love from So.Cal.💟

Perhaps it is different in your neck of the woods but here in the anitpodes those "purlins" on the walls are called girts. Love the build and great to see the kids enjoying it also.

I built a 12ft by 12 ft pretty much just like this years ago an it's still standing today in a camp ground in Ohio ,my regret was I built the knee walls at 2and a half ft an put a 12 12 pitch instead of a barn style roof on it to give the upper half more space to stand an walk and set up furniture against all walls ,also I wanted to put a small walk out balcony where the window was an a small door to enter on to it ,to use as a place to set an chill in the mornings an late ever b4 and after bedtimes,,walk around deck on bottom with one side capable to add another room with a covert an insulated hall from one cabin to the next

If you are worried about the weight of the cantilever structure over the deck, just put in a "Z" brace under it. That will carry the weight from the front of the cantilever to the back of the deck..

Yes but i don't want the obstruction in the bonus room over the deck. Other than that it would be a good fix! Thanks for watching!

@@johnkidd2067 What I meant was under the bonus room down to the deck on each side. Diagonally from the under side of the front of the bonus room to the back of the deck at the corner of the front wall on each side, Kinda hard to describe without drawing a picture, which would be next to impossible to send in this text. I call it a "Z" brace, but it may be known as something else. I usually use a 2x6 or 2x8 to support a cantilevered room, rather than a post strait down from the front corners to the deck below. Does that explain it any better?

Question - why did you not make the roof overhangs on the end walls? I see a big problem here. Great looking cabin though.
