Sorry, but statute is law, in fact it supersedes Common Law, if it didn't then the age of consent would stillbe 12. (which would please Jimmy Savile), and decimalisation would never have happened.

I lived in England for a bit dealt with a few of these fellas. Since i was a yank a couple of them thought i was threatening them while just asking them who they were, sorry us yanks sound a little rude we are not "proper" Englishman as one told me haha. Long story short when i told them to leave my property they did not think twice cause of my "intimidating manner" i gotta say even pissed off British people sound quite charming to me ;]

An American friend told me a Michael Moore documentary about the British TV Licence was "the funniest Monty Python I ever saw"; when I told her it was real, she was Shocked! She said that having to get a licence to watch TV would breach First Amendment Rights in the US ( The right to free speech and to RECEIVE information).

Why should I pay the BBC, to watch any other tv channel? If I shop at Asda, I do not have to pay them to shop at Morrisons. Why is the BBC so different?

They go away and get a second hand tv then come back and sneak in through your back door and plug it in to the antennae, then they go round and knock on your front door again.
