You do need to "remove the BBC's, and agents acting on their behalf, implied right of access from your property" in writing. Citing any previous tv licence number you may have had ( which gives them an address but no personal details - ipa94 rev.- to deal with it ) but not your names. This also backs you up legally as continuing letters and visits would then constitute harassment, trespass, and if they continue to visit, aggravated trespass ( an arrestable offence ). I have a stunning letter that my darling lawyer wifey drafted I'll happily make available.

It's hard to do an entire corporation verbally, mind; written notice is always the best. But for the individual person, verbal works just fine!

Love what you citizens across the pond are doing to deflect these BBC extortionists. If I lived there, I'd just tell the goons I can't talk now because I have a touch (cough, cough) of the Ebola and must get back to bed and take me medcine (while watching the the unlicensed telly, of course).

I just wait for the 2nd letter then ring TVLicensing and tell them I only watch catch up and dvd's.. for which no TVL is needed and they leave me alone for another 2 yrs.. Then I repeat the process.. I've been TVL free for over 10 yrs and it's all legal...If everybody with a computer did that then BBC would go under. Or they'd try some other sneaky method to exist when in fact they should fund themselves just like SKY & ITV do. Rumour has it that the BBC Director General wants to close the iPlayer loophole and charge people for using it. Bastard!!

I think it's nuts that we have to tell the BBC / TVL we don't want their services.. We don't ring SKY, Virgin.. if we don't want their services.. They don't send people round to pester you nor do they threaten court action if you don't want their services so why should the BBC?

It's really quite simple and straight forward. I do not own a vehicle, nor have i had lessons or a test to pass. Therefor, because I don't have a need or desire for a vehicle and choose not to own one, I don't require a drivers licence. Very complicated I know. What if Ford decided tomorrow that they were going to go around the entire country and leave a vehicle on everyone's driveway then tell them they now need to pay Ford royalties or rental charges for the service they are now receiving but never asked for? Courts would stop Ford instantly from doing such a thing. See the BBC need to look at the SKY TV Platform and how that Broadcasting network operates because if i want Sky Movie Channels, but not Sky Sport Channels, I tell Sky, and Sky only switches on the Movie Channels, but not Sport. I believe this is something called 'subscription' with 'Packages' offer to the viewer. And if I don't want any channels that Sky broadcast, I tell them I don't want them and Sky say 'Ok Sir, that's cancelled' and then they go away and don't hound me for an ever increasing annual charge demanding I pay them because whether i like it or not, I am going to buy their product without having any say myself and should shut up be extorted without protest, i mean pay the Licence fee sorry. Don't know where that word extortion came from?
