It is going to be very hard to decide between Ardent Automata and Rites of Coalescence for my Scarab Occult Terminators. Good thing I'll be running two units of them then.

Oh yes, fully healed Terminators? Yes please. I think there is a strong drive for a 10 and 5 unit of SOT's in many builds in my mind at least

Good topic. The ability to pair Aspiring Sorcs with standard sorcs is an elegant solution to having few HQ slots but many HQ options

Wait, The invuln save extends to Arcana Astartes. Hellbrutes have the Arcana Astartes rule as well as -1 damage, and a 3+ to start. With the new tactic you can remove another damage to turn a 3 damage weapon into a 1 damage one and all is dust kicks in for a 2+ 5++ that is a tanky boy. You’d need a -2 Ap 4 damage weapon or -3 AP 3 or less damage weapon just to trigger the 5++. Not to mention the Hellbrute is T7

Sadly although the Helbrute gained the 5++, it doesn't have All is Dust so cannot get a +1 save for Damage 1 weapons. I am glad it gained a 5++ like other Daemon Engines though!

I now have to buy and paint more sorcerers!

Hey mate, I'm a new Thousand Sons player and have been loving your content. I've literally just finished putting together my first 10 models ever (Zhaangors). I'd like to know your thoughts on whether I should be buying an Exalted Sorcerers kit, to kitbash some more aspiring sorcerers? I can't find any solid information online as to how many Aspiring Sorcerers (as well as the Exalted Sorcerers) I can put together from the Exalted Sorcerers kit. I'd really like to have a rough idea how many models I'll be able to put together from the bits provided in the Exalted Sorcerers box to kitbash Marine/Termie aspiring Sorcerers. Also for my Start Collecting kit I am running: - 10 Zhaangors with Zhaangor Blades (opted out of Chainsaw/Pistols) - 4 Rubric Marines with Warpflamers & Aspiring Sorcerer - 4 Rubric Marines with 3 Infernal Boltguns/1 Soulreaper Cannon & Aspiring Sorcerer (need to figure out how to kitbash the aspiring sorcerer) - Ahirman on Disc Do you think the weapon loadouts are decent? Should I drop the Soulreaper Cannon, and/or should I drop the Warpflamers and just stick with Boltguns? Any ideas on how to kitbash the aspiring sorcerer? Thanks! Any constructive criticism appreciated!

Hey Sean, glad you are liking the content! The list you have makes a lot of sense at that level for sure, and Blades over pistols is still the right choice on the Zaangors. Warpflamers are really nice now, and teleporting them/using webway infiltration or using a Rhino to move them is the way to go. Be aggressive! The Soulreaper is a solid gun, combined with a strat to fire twice against larger unit blobs makes it again a really good upgrade. As for the Sorcerer kit, its one of the best ones we have. You can make 3 full models, including one on a disc, but there are not enough body and leg parts to make more. But there are enough spare staffs and heads to upgrade a regular Rubric with the bits to make an Aspiring Sorcerer. The GW website has a frame photo to count the full parts you see, and there are 6 staffs, around 10 heads and plenty of non staff arms, so you should be able to convert 3 Rubrics to Aspiring Sorcerers I'd say.

I think one box is fine for up to 2k points. With Ahriman, the IM and 2 or 1 exalteds and use the others as regular sorcerers that should do you for now I’d say.

I mean the kit won’t go to waste. Plenty of bits for conversion in there for Scarab and Rubric sorcerers as well so it’s never a “bad” buy and will give you more options to play around with the Thrall rules a bit. Depends how many Exalteds you want to play from the one box you have?
