Seems you missed a power to use of the vortex beast, the Cult of Duplicity power: Sorcerous Facade can be used on monsters. No need to get a double move when you can just teleport it to the other side of the map. Which is why it called the "Yeet Beast".

You are totally right, for some reason in my notes I missed out an entire section on Cults like I do with all these types of video. A rather key ability is the yeet... Ill add to the video notes asap!

Thanks! They are a bit out of date for some of the tactics and combinations these days as I have effectively paused the hobby as I became a dad and don't have the time right now. With new content, points changes and recent leaks on org charts and so on, combinations will be very different. But the painting content will always hold up no matter the crazy rules updates :)

@@BozzLightyr Thanks! It's been far toucher on my time than I ever imagined combined with work, so for now sadly the hobby is on pause. Given how late into 9th we are now, it might be a 10th ed reboot on the channel if timing works out :)

Do it! I think they are direct only models from GW, although some FLGS's can order direct only models if needed :)

I’ve loved the model ever since I saw yours for the first time way back when. I have no use for it really but I’d love to paint one at some stage.

Whether he fits in your list or game style, it’s certainly one of the more unique models out there as a standalone painters challenge 👍

I feel like mvb is easyish to paint, drybrushing and contrasts make it super nice. It's an older sculpt so it's very simple in grand design (not many tiny details) but they have tons of resceses and edges so drybrushing and contrasts work at their best. Gameplay wise I like them for their versitility for not a huge cost. Decent anti horde, decent anti tank, decent mw sp, decent tank with Regen, and some good utility strats

Also power wise swelled by the warp is single target and you can cult of duplicity redeploy mvb

I still found it quite intimidating to paint and to tie it into the colour palette of my TS Daemons and TS to be honest. I even have some Screamers I painted using the same scheme for the tie in. But with the new contrast paint it might make things easier for sure. Lots of it can be drybrushed too, specially the claws and the spikes.

@@OldAverageBritGaming doing the "official" contrast method (grey seer base with just contrasts above) works wonders on the vortex orb at the top. Makes real bright colors

Happy New Year - Great video as normal - I have used mine in local games, and it has surprised, but I just do not think it is something I would lose my Contemptor or Forgefiend for, or reduced my terminators to accommondate. I like it's MW potential and it has the distraction factor. Never apologise for wanting an excuse to get your models on camera, they are always worth a view.

HNY!! I think the surprise factor can take some people off guard. Either they think it’s super scary and it does it’s job as a distraction saving other units, or it’s ignored at their peril! The solid rumour contemptors are getting a big points hike might mean there is a slot for the MVB in the future?

@@OldAverageBritGaming I have been expecting a nurf to contemptors for a while - especially Vulkites, so no surprise if it does come along. This may well be the chance for the MVB (although changing to be an actual beast would make it so much more useable)

To be clear, can it's vortex abilities be used while the MVB is in engagement with an enemy or target enemies engaged with allies?

Quick reading of the rule conclusions : - unlike forgefiend/maulerfiend where you need at least two to tag team in battlefield, just one is more than enough (warp vortex related) - monster keyword will benefit against anti-tank unit (just be careful around heavy bolters with hellfire shells and melta weapons) - this unit is quite decent for supporting sorcerer - one last thing that, MVB can be "Distraction Carnifex" especially with "Warp Explosion" can ruin enemy's day

Yup, I think 1 MVB will suffice in a list build now. Previously 2 or 3 were actually fun to see and stack ability, but now with just 4 powers, 2 is a max, unless you want serious redundancy in your list and bank on losing 1 in turn 1 :) They are still nasty in melee regardless of powers, but thats the unique selling point is to add to the existing MW output from the army using it.

Can we reroll vortex roll?

Nick just asked about this yesterday to me tbh. Probably not until 2023 I expect as a day out to his house I need to wait till my daughter is more settled in her nursery and I can plan around work and her! Maybe it might happen this year, but unlikely right now sadly. I need to go kill some robots!

Not a MVP now that Railguns are on the scene.... Dead in two shots even with the regen.

Highly doubt that railgun can even shot twice, by the time it deployed in battlefield expect alpha strike in one turn. Unlike Plage Burst Crawler where it can endure alpha strike before it going down, the hammerhead gonna have a hard time dealing against anti-tank infantry unit

@@chrisg8321 no I'm not Tau player (tempted to get one). But that Tau lack of psyker and close combat making them prime target for thousand sons psychic power. and yes being the faction that good shooting such amount of damage is justifiable, but what we don't know what that high damage cost of, either the hammerhead must not move in previous turn or the hammerhead saves nerfed is still in the air

I do call out that rail gun in the video. And I do hope that other weapons don't start ignoring INV saves as more codex creep appears. I mean, it is more dangerous than a Belicosa Volcano Cannon, designed to flatten cities and topple the biggest Titans! But unless your local gamers chase the latest meta, its not a biggie for me. None of my friends play Tau, and I hope that Rail Gun Spam doesn't become a thing all over the place. Although if people mass buy them and then GW nerf the rule, I will laugh very hard and very loudly :)

@@RevanR No worries. Just had a guy recently claiming that since Hammerheads were about 200 points, that justified the stats of the weapon....
