This guy is conditional to deployed, you might consider to have one or two to deal with flying circus army type or army heavily supported with flying unit

Very conditional I agree. Unless you list tailor or have an agreed army discussion with your opponent its not going to appear in many TS lists at all despite being such a cool kit still

I’m enjoying the styles of Video. Would you consider doing this for general chaos and awful chaos legions? Because it’s always good to Hear someone else’s perspective

Sadly I dont have the time to do something similar on other books mate. So just focussing on the TS for now.

Thanks for the tips. I enjoyed the video. I have a superb converted heldrake and beautiful painted Magnus, but newly painted army, so I did not play it yet in 9th Ed.

nice unit breakdown. i tried to play heldrake in a list to test him (buy or not?) and i can tell that he was focused down quite quickly. playing him with Magnus is a good idea probably, will definitely test that. thanks

I think the unit still carries the fear from older editions when it was super scary! So still gets focussed down. But put Magnus on the board at the sae time, what do they do then? Thats the quandary I want to give my opponent should I take the big Red :)

@@OldAverageBritGaming Yes, but they have a rather simple, yet compelling and elegant design. They'd fit perfectly in an Iron Warriors army with lots of demon engines, even if they'd need some kind of buff atm.

It truly does look nice but every video or guide I've seen has rated the heldrake as meh. I hope it gets some sort of buff because I'd love to use it and know it's not gonna be a turkey shoot

Armor of Contempt helps it now, ignore first pip of AP

@@OldAverageBritGaming Yeah AoC stacks with the TS damage one ability so they’ll be super tanky. Plus now you can run 1 pycher knight with tzech key word along with TS and not lose mono faction bonuses

When you choose to make it hover it loses airborne predator, supersonic, hard to hit and drops to M 20”. Isn’t the purpose of that so it can now charge and engage units that do not fly?

Absolutely it is. But of course becomes way more vulnerable. And the idea behind my concept of using it is more distraction for Magnus to keep him alive. But dropping to hover means it’s a big threat once it’s zoomed up the field so can’t be ignored in favour of still focusing on The Big Red

The rule regarding charging is that only in the thousand Sons codex

It can be in the right situation. Character sniping though is always possible too. Avoid those line troops screens!

Is there a series for you building your TS army up from the ground?

Sadly not really I am afraid. But basically it started with a Start Collecting set, the Elite Kill Team box, 3 lots of Exalted Sorcerers and a Daemon Prince. Then just spiralled from there adding Daemon Engines and some second hand Rubrics! About to add the Hexfire content and more engines though for good measure

I just don't rate it anymore. Practically does nothing except fall apart. Rules are awful and it's not a decent flyer. Traded mine in for a fire raptor gunship which has all the bells and whistles

It has a very limited application for sure. Its "ok" but without any enemy aircraft to deal with in most lists these days, all the good rules are wasted! What do you think of it as the pairing for a Magnus list like I discussed though? Sling up the board meaning they have to deal with it instead of Magnus?

@@OldAverageBritGaming I personally don't use Magnus and rather run rubrics, Ahriman and terminators. Maybe that's why I don't get much benefit from the tin foil turkey

Sadly this is pretty much the log and short of it while Volkite is still crazy good. But I do think it has a place if you run Magnus - thoughts?

@@OldAverageBritGaming magnus is all about trading up while u are using him from the backline. drake can do that, i dont know how effective it is though

Yeah I get what you mean. Can Magnus/Drake combo make back what their investment into the army costs? You need some good MW output from Magnus and some luck on the Drake to hold at least a couple of turns before the hammer blow Scarabs and Rubrics do their thing racking up the points.
