If we talk about plasmas, then FORGEFIEND has this option to build for hunting elite targets, yes, we can have 3 shots each, but at a cost of 155 points and enhanced by +1 to the power of the shot have not bad consequences. Besides, in practice, plasma from 3 heads gives out from 5 to 9 shots, if you do not take the third plasma, you will get a good distracting unit.

It certainly is an elite hunter anti gravis/Skorpech type killer. Despite the random shots which I think is the bit that puts people off using it at the highest levels, it certainly cannot be ignored for the damage output potential by any opponent.

It's pretty much solid for daemon engine, If only there's HQ that can give "core" for daemonengine....

I would like to see a volkite contemptor comparison. The contemptor combo with malefic maelstrom, esorcelled infusion makes volkites an actual force to be reckoned with

Thats why they appear in every competitive list right now. I am sure their success will result in a change in points for them soon enough though. I might have to crunch (or find someone who already has) the numbers on them and see how it really does stack against other options

as much as I enjoy the contemptor combos, I’m partially hoping for a change of points or a nerf. We know there’s a problem when volkite contemptors are everywhere regardless of army (practically all flavors of marines and CSM). I’d be happy for an excuse to bring a forgefiend over it.

When you have to resort to FW options its not a good look for GW as a Codex maker and tournament event champion is it really? I always felt FW were supposed to be added flavour models for variety, and they addressed the old Pay 2 Win with GW writing the rules for them this edition. Sadly still not quite there yet!

I think that as soon as the volkite contemptor see a point increase we will see more forgefiends on the board

Very true, seems the online 3D printers are going wild, which is anti GW policy of no printed parts at official events. I guess if you dont know or cant tell, its going to happen. Id imagine if they made a few more, they'd be the best selling item in the FW catalogue!

MVB for mortal woudns, melee and tanky, contemptor with volkites and elgienhs orrery to negate minus to hit wound AND damage.

Im going to tackle the MVB in a future video given I love the one I painted up :) Sadly I dont own the Volkite option on a Contemptor to use in game. EO is such a critical must have!

Interesting analysis! As a new player, I started with Thousand Sons, and I'm absolutely getting my ass kicked by all my friends with heavy tanks, doomstalkers, and multi-meltas, so I'm looking for a powerful daemon engine to help me stand a chance there. How do you feel about Forgefiend vs Defiler on that front?

I personally think the Forgefiend is more viable than the Defiler. Last edition the Defiler was very good, but I still gravitate towards the Fiend personally. But heavy tanks still tall to buffed up Scarabs and Mortal Wounds, so never forget that those Terminators are beastly!

The worst thing about thousand sons is the lack of anti vehicle units.

In general yup the standard anti tank infantry or other vehicle units is a struggle. Usually you can get by with just volume of Mortal Wounds and good use of Cabal boosts, maybe backed by a Hellbrute or 2 with Lascannon/Missile combo or melta/fist. But facing vehicle heavy Militarum or GSC or even monster Nid lists, the numbers needed to output is a challenge for sure.

Also no considering the helbrute. Melta + fist/flamer

Im a fan of the Helbrute this edition as well. Between them and the Fiends they are the obvious choices if you dont have access to Contemptors.

unfortunately , WARPFLAME GARGOYLES is not possible to use on it , KEYWORDS is not suitable

Ya know what, you are right. Arcana Astartes is not on the blimmin Keyword, only Heretic Astartes is. Thats just blown my mind when I was reading this again now you pointed it out! Fortunately its not just me that made a similar error. Goonhammer were using Gargolyes on a Heldrake and that has the same issue! Well spotted and thanks for the correction

I'm still a better fan of the mvb, has melle, and range and mortal wounds. Explodes on a 4, heals d3. Regen cabal points, heals units. Ir can also shoot in melle range

@@OldAverageBritGaming sadly I just found out that have 2 isn't a s good as I thought cause some reason gw didn't want u to be able to use the same abilities on both units... Which makes no sense as they are 2 different models.. example. Can't use turbulent discharge on both units....

I'm overlooking it because I think it's one of the ugliest models I've ever seen!! You could give it the most insane OP rules and it still wouldn't find it's way onto my table...

Really? I think its a beautiful kit perfect as a Chaos daemon abomination! Each to their own though, which is why art is so subjective and personal.
