    I watched her nail form video, then her how to build a Freeform nail. I’ve never touched a form in my life. Kid you not, took me four tries to get the form on right. Then by the fifth nail, I built the almost perfect nail. Almost because I switched to builder gel from the poly nail gel I was using, and it was too thin. But just those videos and BAM. Her and Miss Jo are now my only two sources, I love them both and their teaching methods are on par with my learning comprehension. A million thanks to them both. If/when my current employment ends, I’m planning on changing careers after 25 years. I’ve always wanted to get my cosmetology license and do hair and nails. Now I will be doing that, and hopefully within a year or two of completing that, I will open my own salon. That’s the plan anyway.

    Omg Liz, that C curve was gorgeous! 😍😍 I love looking at a good C curve lol. Video request; could you go over some tips for not filing into your encapsulated art? I did a gorgeous glitter encapsulation, but to get the shaping and thinness correct on the sides and free edge, I ended up filing right through my glitter. I ended up with really obvious clear patches on the sides and free edge. I'd love to see what to do to prevent that or how to fix it when/ if it happens. Please please please! 😘😘

    Hi there really isn't a true difference in gels globally. Gel is gel but some cultures/countries prioritize certain formulations. Japanese gel tends to be soak-off only and they tend to sell things in teeny tiny jars (mainly because storage space is a premium there so techs can fit way more colors in a small space and/or have them in mobile setups). They also tend to be highly pigmented and geared towards art. I started in nails because of my obsession with Japanese style nail art. They definitely are a trend setter in the industry alongside eastern Europe.

  • @dairyist

    @@TheNailHub Right but apparently the natural nail is conditioned and then buffed to a high shine before the base gel. Since the nails don't need to be roughed up, I'm thinking Japanese gels can help those of us that are self taught DIY'ers. I'm talking about damaging the natural nail from over filing. 🙋🏻‍♀️

    I second this question! I've been contemplating specializing in Japanese gels if I become a pro, mainly because of the differences in prep of the natural nail and possible benefits of that, long term. But are they as effective in terms of durability etc ? Following this question / answers. :)

I know neither of these require use of a bonder/dehydrator or primer...but what about the Excel builder gel? I don't have that yet, but will be adding that to my toolbox soon. • @TheNailHub

    Acetone is a great dehydrator. I use that on sweaty wet nails to get rid of excess moisture on the nail plate. And I absolutely agree with Olivia. There are certain bonders like light elegance airbond that actually use ambient humidity to create adhesion. Def try both. Also not sure how bad your daughters hands get with sweat or how you feel about this but just thought I would add that Botox does wonders for sweating hands. My sister suffered from very sweaty hands and she gets Botox about once a year in her palms and it helps a ton!

    Time and moisture. Keep them hydrated and let them grow out. Keeping them short also helps as they regrow. There is really nothing to replace layers once they are removed. The nail must regrow completely.

    with natural nails that are longer they can tend to grow in odd directions . so the nail form can be a tad tricky to fit to the nail. my issue is my nails grow down so it can take some finagling to get the form right

  • @TheNailHub

    @TheNailHub

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you're client wants to keep their natural nails they are a better candidate for just growing them out slowly with an overlay. I will never understand the obsession with having the natural nail under there. But as long as it's not lifting or peeling or curling away then no problem with leaving it as is. Your cclients need to understand that if they want drastic change (length or shape) there are going to be tradeoffs. And if they want perfect nails that have no curving or natural quirkiness then they are going to have to remove the natural part that is causing the quirks. Hope that makes sense.
