I've been kind of amazed at how many techs don't seem to know about the slip layer. It is my most favorite thing, it makes everything easier. I learned it from your step by step gel nails series, so thank you for that. Looking forward to your video on thicker gels ♥️

Honestly.. without the slip layer I feel like runny gels sometimes have better control, you only need to rely on surface tension to move it,

I thought of you and remembered what you had said before, so I bought some thinner IBD and it’s much easier! I need to get some of this particular gel if it’s available to the public in the US. I noticed not only does the room temp change how the gel flows, but also if a client's body temp runs hot. Oh boy, in the summer I have issues with that. My previous salon owner started to limit when we could turn on the air conditioner. So the combo of the warm salon and a client's hot body temp will make me change which gel viscosity I use.

I ended up soaking for 30 minutes in pure acetone and having to scrape it off, so that stuff doesn't want to budge at all!!! Went ahead and cleaned up the nail and put my base coat on to prepare it for a regular gel color. Looked at the nail and the nail bed looks somewhat cloudy white? Is that normal? Have i overcured somehow? Is it safe to say i need to completely remove the nail and take a break before doing a new set?

Hi almost all gels can be found in both pots and bottles so it's important to look at what it actually is. If it says base coat then that is the product you will want to apply to the natural nail. And then builder gel after. Protein bond or bonder is an additional product you can add before base coat to enhance adhesion but it should be used sparingly. Hope that helps.

Can anyone help with my predicament...I've started doing my own gel nails and have found products and techniques that work for me. Occasionally I break a nail and rather than have a short nail among 9 other nice medium length nails or trim all of them down to match the one short one, I though why not buy fake tips. I attached those on a few nails trying to blend in the ridge with my natural nail. But when I started with the gel polish it somehow pooled and built up at the tip, causing a ski ramp effect (on the fake tip) and looked horrible. Can I use this product and only do a "wet" coat (I don't like look of super thick nails) to help blend the fake tip in with my real nail before proceeding with the rest of the gel polish procedure? Thanks!

Hey Liz! Love your videos so much and thank you for all the information! I have a question. Is it possible to mix the two gels? Like, building a nail with thick gel and just doing fills with thin gel (from the same brand/line) or does this compromise the structure too much? Thank you!

Hi, I have been using Aknentz options clear gel to build extensions with nail forms, for myself. I found this gel quite runny. Can you recommend a soak off gel that is a bit thicker please? 🙏

Hi you might want to try Kokoist Excel Builder. It’s a bit thicker.
