Thinking about thumbs, I remember your video that teaches how to adapt forms for wide thumbs, and I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if you could buy multi-size forms-on-a-roll? This helped me so much. I suffer from iron deficiency and I have ridged nails from thyroid issues as well. My nails are very thin right now so I'm taking biotin vitamins too. But my natural nails are damaged from bad habits and learning on my own nails without reading first. Since I found your channel I've started to let my nails get healthier first before I practice on myself. I peeled off two gel sets like an idiot too. 🙄 You have taught me so much. I think I might go back to school at 41 this summer. But if not I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I'll be donating when I start to work. You really have the best channel on here. You deserve an award. If you can do private lessons I would love to pay you.

    Thank you SO MUCH for these videos! I just bought my first lamp and gels (leafgel) and created an overlay on 8 nails and extensions on 2 that curve down really badly. I can’t tell you how helpful your videos are and how much I appreciate them ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just realized that I don’t own any efiles and I can’t afford to get an efile machine right now - could you do a video where you show us how to use a hand file to deal with lifting around the cuticle and side walls?? My base coat and builder gel are both clear, and I’m TERRIFIED that I’ll end up filing my natural nail while trying to get some thin areas of lifting off.

    Waaayhaaaay!!! I've been doing it right!! It astonished me how quickly gel files down. I typically apply a layer of gel, then pour acrylic powder over (like a home made acrygel), then went to just gel, and I've been so overeager in filing, I've had to reapply the gel and start again. I love learning from you!! Xx

    Thanks Liz for all of your very informative videos. I’m 63 and have just recently qualified so I know I won’t have a massively long career in this industry so I’m trying to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can. My biggest problem at the moment is trying to find a couple of brands that a) are healthy for my clients, b) won’t break the bank and c) are readily available in Australia (preferably also an Oz company). I’ve done the IBX training and like the look of the LE range (but not an Aussie company), haven’t seen or know much about Kokoist, Akzentz or Estemio. If you could offer any advice I’d be eternally grateful. Also, I would love to order from you but seems I can’t order LE as there is a distributor here. Are there any other restrictions on what you can send to Australia? Cheers, Clare xx

    Wow, thank you for this. I grow my natural nails long, and use gel polish on them. I do my nails at home. I was doing exactly what you showed here so this confirmed my repair job except I use structure gel. Question about the bubble you had-is it flat in the gel? Did you buff it so it’s smooth? Also, what did you use to build the apex? Is making an apex important or can you just leave your nail’s natural curve? I hope you can understand that. Thank you again! 💅🏻❤️

  • @TheNailHub

    @TheNailHub

    Little bubbles like that I usually leave. They aren’t a structural problem and they’ll get hidden by color or top coat. I used the same gel to build up the apex a bit more after I was done. Like I do in my overlay tutorials. Check out my previous videos on apexes and c curves and overlays.

    Hey Liz! Just came across your videos and I must say, they are super fun to watch and super informative! Regarding this video in particular, I have a thumb nail that broke quite low on the nail bed (not extreme to the point of blood or anything, but still low enough to know it's going to give me trouble when I try to redo my manicure) do you think this method would also work for my issue? I don't know if the nail form will reach to cover the area of my skin exposed from the missing chunk of nail :( I look forward to watching your next video!

    Hi Laura, I call that “down to the meat”. Haha. Not fun and hopefully it’s not too sore or bleeding. If it’s just super short and not an open sore wound you can put the form right up to it and extend out as well if it is hurt badly then let it heal first and grow out a bit before repairing with product. ❤️

  • @fionnails7293

    Hi Liz, thanks for the video, always love watching them. My question is sometimes when I'm doing a gel extension on a form when I take the form off I have a crack at the corner side of where the free edge and the extension meets 😢 I'm not sure if this is due to my technique or when the natural nails are very short or both 🤔 Can I remedy this by putting more product on top of the tear or should I always file the whole lot off and start my extension again? This is what I typically do as I worry the foundation won't be strong enough and it will break off. Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance. 🤗

  • @TheNailHub

    @TheNailHub

    Hi Fionna, it sounds like there’s not enough product on the sides. And it could also be that the gel you are using is very brittle. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for extensions as more rigid gels usually hold shape better but you need to put more product. Hope that helps!

    If it breaks off after fixing it’s likely too thin at the seam or too thin overall. Or the product wasn’t blended into the old product enough.

    Could you leave it natural by just putting regular nail polish on it? As I have good natural hard nails and length and don't want to damage them by applying gel polish every time. I have had biab put on this tme but have found it really chemically. But i tend to get breaks right ag the bottom of my nails and have to chop them right down to start again as im abit OCD about the nails being all the same length 😆

    Thank you so much for this video Liz. Question,. I have full cover soft gel tips on for a month plus. They are in great condition with minimal lifting. I recently did a gel rebalance on my nails but after prep and applying a rubber based gel and buffing, I applied another coat of reg. base gel directly on top and then color. The color started pulling immediately all the nails. I managed to cure them instantly to stop further pulling and reapply a second coat. As soon as a applied my matted top coat on top of the color it was bumpy and starting peeling after a week of wear on one nail. Why is that? (Mind you, everything I used was from the same brand from the ph bonder to the elastic base, reg base, color, top coat and matte gel) My other nails had the same issues with the gel color but I applied a shiny gel top coat and they are holding up really well “no issues”. On another nail, I applied a shiny gel top coat “cure” and then applied a matte top coat and it’s doing great. Is the buffing the issue that caused the pulling? Should I have not added the base coat and applied color straight to the nail after the rebalancing? Is there a right or wrong way to apply matte gel polish? Pls help

  • @TheNailHub

    @TheNailHub

    Did you also use the same brand of lamp? It actually sounds like something wasn’t cured right. And I would guess if you file off the shiny top coat the color would actually not be fully cured underneath. That’s my guess. Pooling or pulling of color usually happens when there’s an incompatible inhibition layer issue or it could be the inhibition layer is thicker/more slippery because it’s undercured.

    @@TheNailHub hi Liz after experimenting I found that the issue is the reg. base coat. I applied the base coat to two nails and on a third I applied the elastic base coat. After curing I wiped inhibition layer off with alcohol on one tip. I applied the same gel polish to all three tips. The one I didn’t remove the inhibition layer pulled immediately. The one with the elastic base worked great. The nail where I removed the inhibition layer worked great but not perfect.
