Insensitive, yes. Fake apology, no. Notice the guy who sent the email was not a driver on the hate train but just letting Jordies know exactly how him and his mates felt about his comment from an Indigenous community. Not from a dog whistling fool writing for some bullshit high priced toilet roll, but people who are actually involved within said community.

Hey Jordie, I get your words about science and all, but it came out all wrong or back to front mate. More a gaffe than racist I mean you could have a crack at religion with that premise as well. Cultural beliefs are not trying to be science either. But I totally agree about the tree. The guy on the phone in the stream is wrong. Vic gov did talk with the Traditional Owners who said there are no trees in that area of cultural significance and gave them the go ahead for the project. It was a splinter group who came in later that set this off. I know them personally as they are my cousins. How do I know all this stuff and do I qualify to speak about it. I was the first Aboriginal Site Officer for Western Victoria. My role was to conduct archaeological surveys and record prehistoric sites. I was trained and work in Western Vic for four years. I did archaeological surveys throughout the area they are talking about, including Gariwerd (Grampians). Yes there are women's birthing trees and scarred trees etc, but I have never heard of or recorded a 'directional tree' in all my time working with Indigenous communities, elders and other archaeologists in the area. Directional Trees are real but exist in North America not Australia. I know who came up with calling it a Directional Tree, she is my cousin and has been to America and is an activist from the old days. She knows that she made it up and all of us who have worked or lived with her know she made it up as well. It got bigger than Ben Hur, bullshit piled on thicker and thicker until the truth didnt matter anymore. This made many of us angry and disappointed. but when we called it out we too were attacked. My brother has worked for years with Vic Roads and is part of the Project's Management team for the highway extension. He too has been physically attacked by other indigenous youth at the site. All a bunch of kids full of fire and purpose but none of it based on the truth. You are right its only a recent tree less than 300 years hence will only have historical value not cultural. It really pisses me off when greedy people sets this crap off manipulating culture to feed their pockets and grasp for power. It is not our way, as we value and respect our culture. Kids these days need to learn their history through both the cultural lens and the scientific lens like I have. Both are knowledge and equally fascinating. Take care Jordies you still have a fan in me. An indigenous Elder and Traditional owner member of the area. P.S: Thanks for donating revenue from this video to the Australian Conservation Foundation. I use to work for them too as their National Indigenous Campaign Coordinator.

Thanks a lot for this top-quality comment! I hope that more people read it. I feel a bit embarrassed now to have supported the movement to protect the tree without actually looking into the cause. It's not the first time that I've supported something that sounded right but turned out to be murky and possibly harmful. At least I stay clear of overseas orphanages and "kids with cancer" type NGOs that mostly do great damage, even when intentions are good. What's your take on the Wangan and Jagalingou fighting Adani? They seem like heroes to me but seeing anyone as a hero is a big red flag often followed by disillusionment.

I feel like Jordan is who he is when he does these videos. His critics are the kind of people who smile in the streets and genocide between the sheets. People with squeaky clean public images are just the people who excel at lying and gaming media. No one is perfect. What matters is how you respond to hurting people you didn't mean to hurt. Most of these dipshits would never consider apology because they think it makes them seem weak. And that is because they _are_ weak; weak of character. Apologising to those deserving it, and attacking the people trying to capitalise on the situation shows compassion and strength. Really undermines the bullshit rhetoric that passes for news these days, and I love it.

All people end up doing is harrasing them, and doing nothing more than putting more shit and hate out there towards people that don't deserve it. It's gotta be a lack of self confidence thing, especially as most of these people are open or are straight up publishing their shitty behaviour looking for approval.

The podcasts puts you under such intense scrutiny at a time where you're really making a difference, and many powers that be would love to see that cease. The podcast provides dangerous fuel to that fire, and challenges both your broad credibility as well as the progress you're making. It seems a very risky career choice to continue subjecting yourself to literally the most intense form of scrutiny that exists (talking unscripted for 45+ minutes while under the influence of various amounts of alcohol). You and your teams work inspires me greatly to have faith that we can emerge from this shit stain time in history to something better, and the podcast from the perspective of someone who feels that way does nothing but put that amazing, brilliant and inspiring work at risk of not being taken seriously.

Respect to you for apologising Jordan, but honestly, your message and work against the corruption in Australia is more important and necessary compared to people getting offended. Sorry to those who got offended, I don't understand your pain as I am a white australian, and I don't mean to be insensitive. It must suck when things come across in a negative way that touches on such a sore spot in your culture/heritage/identity. Again, I don't understand this, but I am trying to acknowledge it. This still does not mean that the vast majority of the work being done by @friendlyjordies is not significantly important and necessary. Please don't let this situation distract you from the fact that Jordan and his team are currently involved in a huge war of ideas against the Australian propaganda machine, and that situation affects all Australians whether they know it/like it, or not. Maybe Jordies has caused you offense. Maybe he will do so again in the future. That still doesn't negate the fact that he and his team, as well as others such as #00Kevin and @TheJuiceMedia , are involved in something significantly more serious and pressing. I don't intend to compare this situation to the offense caused. I am saying that there are other things happening here and they are also extremely important. Also, maybe Jordan's words caused offense, but please remember that Jordan himself was not involved in the initial actions and behaviours that the offense is related to. It's one thing to joke, albeit carelessly, about something, and another thing entirely to actually be involved in the atrocities that have created the situation in the first place. Please don't get distracted, this is what the Murdoch Machine wants and is counting on. Jordan is fighting for your freedom and future whether you're offended or not. Sorry for any insensitivity, please don't forget that we are all going to die, life is cold and brutal, and being offended is a part of life, (again, coming from a white australian who is doing his best to make sense of the bullshit of 21st century culture) - Jordan is fighting for a better world whether you agree with him or not, and that is something that all people should be grateful for. Again, I don't mean to belittle or dismiss anyone, I'm just trying to keep focused.

You know someone apologises with sincerity when they keep coming back after their initial apology and reiterate I know what I did was wrong or upset you I didn't mean that and I am sorry. The best part about Friend Jordan's apology is that it is sincere as he directly related to an individual and their community. Basically telling all the finger waggers to fuck off. It's between Him and the indigenous insividual/s he upset and that's it. He explains what he did and why and then says hey I took your feedback and looked at myself and got more information sorry. I'm so sick of these Fucking fully grown children who can't handle being a failure because they were never taught as children. Hmmm, I sadly don't agree :( I love Jordies, and follow this channel for the research he and his team do and find him funny. I watch every video. I also think he serves an important function in that there are a lot of young dudes who get their opinions from KZread who I genuinely reckon would be following right-wing commentators like Shapiro etc. if not for finally a GENUINELY entertaining leftwinger on KZread like Jordies! And I think his political INcorrectness might be important in attracting those dudes because if he was politically correct they’d probably look elsewhere. But all that said I have also winced at some of the insensitive comments he makes… so was pleased at the thought that this video might be a mature recognition and reflection on the impact of one such comment. Unfortunately, instead, this is like every ‘apology’ my ex ever gave me: always with qualifications and no real accountability. A classic ‘KZread Apology’ asides from the fact he didn’t blubber throughout. “I’m sorry but I was drunk” isn’t an apology. “I’m sorry you misinterpreted my meaning’ isn’t an apology. “I’m sorry but look over there the people/news agencies accusing me are CORRUPT and funded by companies involved in land grabs” isn’t an apology. “I’m sorry but it’s a debatably-sacred tree within the indigenous community anyway” isn’t an apology. “I’m sorry but you know I’m basically a shock-jock to get these points across” isn’t an apology. “I’m sorry but XYZ is why I was correct and you should agree” isn’t an apology. Just apologise or don’t. He is allowed to explain his reasons for doing something he now (maybe?) recognises as wrong, but these endless qualifications and excuses seem to me to undermine the very purported purpose of his video.

My bet is they're more or less directed at furry porn guy and Crabbie Gnatfield The true point of this video is not so much to just say "sorry, have a nice life", though that's definitely part of it.
