🤦🏼‍♂️ @Aaron, suggesting that we in Qld had freedom due to political choices, is blatantly false. What the Andrews Labor government had to deal with in Victoria, was *completely* different to what the Palaszczuk Labor gov't in Queenslandia, was coping with. Earlier infections, wider infection spread, more complex ethnic diversity factors, much higher pop'n density, and the higher death rate that comes from all of these factors, and other distinctions which make your idea redundant. Most of us up here - even those close to the Qld-NSW border - really don't know how lucky we were, compared to the explosion of infections, serious illness and deaths in Melbourne and parts of Victoria (and Sydney).

Years ago I wrote this paper on how counterproductive persecution can be. I cited numerous examples from history where different religious groups became zealous and radicalized because some other group was trying to stamp them out of existence. The logic applies across the board though, not just in religion. Avi Yemeni should be very embarrassed that he didn't know this, particularly given his Jewish heritage.
