Friendly with Kevin Rudd!

Комедия

Jordan and former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd discuss media bias, Rupert Murdoch, Warhammer 40k and smear campaigns. Yes Jordan turned up to interview Mr. Rudd with a spaghetti stained Kevin 07 shirt. Still more professional than Ch7 News. #MurdochRoyalCommission

Imagine for a moment that the international left was still doing that when the Global Financial Crisis hit. Australia was relatively insulated by China's construction boom and their colossal USD reserves so all Kevin really had to do was follow the Keynesian script and use our AAA bond rating, one of the few going around at the time, to fund the infrastructure projects that Howard had neglected to invest in. What should have been tabled by the centre left everywhere else was a new economic model based on progressive values that targeted finance sector fuckery. But they were caught napping. Instead, we had UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown prophesising before the crisis that the end to the boom-bust cycle was nigh, then during the aftermath, centre-left parties across Europe, like France's Socialist Party, ceded their working class base to insidious National Front type parties, ostensibly for advocating a bit less brutality towards border crossing refugees that the US and NATO operations had created and for their supporting role in implementing the austerity policies created by the aforementioned finance sector fuckery. Policies and operations that made no economic, geopolitical or political sense, only ideological sense... You have to ask those at the centre left political apex at the time, did you fall asleep at the one lecture at uni describing Karl Marx's crisis theory? Because I can assure them, the sycophants across the aisle certainly didn't and they've been playing them like a fiddle ever since.

Murdoch was the name of MacGuyver's indestructable arch nemesis: _coincidence?_ Actually, Macguyver vs Murdoch would be a good way to frame K-Rudd's crusade...if it was still 1987, which the lady who brings my meals informs me it isn't, which raises the question of why she's the spitting image of Kylie Minogue, give or take 80 odd pounds (give, obviously). I'm wasted as an unpaid, unread online comments section pundit. I shoulda cracked onto a cushy job on the -Death Star- Australian back in the 80s, sigh. Say, did I ever tell you about the 80s, or did you manage to escape somehow? Damned if we didn't have we had the best shows on the tele, the best fashion trends (clothing, upholstery, furniture, architecture, you name it), _and_ the best songs on high rotate on all the am radio stations *_ever,_* and all at the same time to boot: talk about a once-in-a-lifetime trifecta! Sadly I was in prison for a string of relentless gratuitous murder attempts against Richard Dean Anderson (AKA Macguyver). At least I think they were gratuitous, never quite figured out what the heck gratuitous meant...wouldn't have slowed me down at The Australian either; back in the day broadsheets used to have all sorts of different kinds of editors and such. Back then they were still called broadsheets, too; nowadays all anyone talks about is Googling all over each other's Facebooks 'n what-not. It's a crying shame, it's wrong, and it's against the Queen, and that's just for starters! don't let these dry eyes fool you, I've got a prescription for that...oi you off already? You hardly got here! You didn't let me tell you all about Tattoo from Fantasy Island: *_"DA PLANE! DA PLANE!"_* - Murdoch (yesterday)

Sadly, he was a terrible prime minister which is why his own party ditched him. He had the administrative and management ability of projectile vomit. So, yeah, bright guy, fun to hang out with, but utterly incapable of doing the behind-the-scenes real work of government.

  • @michaelafischer6177

@@ScrivenerofDoom I used to feel less favourably about Rudd. Reading Auspol books has helped me realise that we owe him and his Labor gov a great deal for his response to the GFC in particular. But I can't really disagree that his management increasingly descended into something messy. The Killing Season book makes you eye roll for its insipid author-narrator, but the interviews are revealing. Kev has many points in his favour both in and out of office. He's unquestionably immensely intelligent and witty. I appreciate his recent diplomatic work, fight against Newscorp, and friendship with Jordies. But even some of his favourable actions as PM were underpinned by chronic administrative blunders and questionable party/individual behaviour. There must be alternative universes where Labor successfully campaigned a mining tax (that blunder gripes me more than most). But it's hard to be comparatively critical in the ScoMo era of Auspol. I have high hopes for Albo with regards to good Labor leadership.

Hello, I am David. Refreshing to hear this kind of clarity in communication, here's my 2 cents. The product of 'learned behaviour' is true for our individual lives as habits. The longer a habit is in place the more comfortable it is, even when it is not beneficial. Habits are comfortable and 'pain relieving' (pain relief - not true, it is more accurately determined as an awareness shift, the pain is still there) The longer the habit is in place the more care and attention it needs to be redirected. Our individual habits are predicated on our educational systems due to our pre-set incubation period year 1 - 12, university, ect.. Our education system creates this cycle: (among others) 1. Restriction of physical movement which leads to an unhealthy quantity of awareness placed on ones own thoughts. 2. The fact that our attention is habitually centred on our thoughts means that we identify with and are influenced by the thoughts rather than filtering them for practicality 3. If you do not filter thoughts then they have a greater control over your physical actions due to their allowed influence over your emotional well-being 4. The influence of emotional well-being is made through nerve signals, nerve signals communicate with the sensation of pleasure and pain among other things. 5. Over time identification with thoughts becomes a habit 6. The habit is continued to provide stimulation of pleasure and pain (even though it in essence promotes depression) 7. The product of this habit is extreme mental impressionability due to the over-sensitivity to pain and pleasure, which creates an easy to influence product in our youth. A fun prediction: Approximately 99% of our educated populations facial muscles are very tight. This in turn makes their facial nerves easier to influence because there is less shock absorption and therefore filtering of emotions and thoughts. Your facial muscles can influence your emotions. (this applies in many other areas but we will keep it simple for now) I am 38 minutes in, my bad if this is touched on. If you are interested, here is my blog: thelogicplague.blogspot.com/

Progressive to what point? When has the left gone past a point that is unacceptable? I mean there is a politician in California that wants to exempt LGBTs from being prosecuted for a sex with children 'because it's not straight sex... so it doesn't count.' I hope we can both agree that that is progressiveness going past a very clear line in the sand... What is your opinion?

Hey Jordie, current Journalism/Politics student in Uni here: What can people do as independent/non murdoch press journalists to combat intense media bias from News Corp? Is there anything that people can do to genuinely galvanize a corporation like the ABC to focus funding on media watch, to protest against character assassination within media and literally fight back against a losing battle to huge media corps like Murdoch's? P.s. Loved the interview, Rudd seems like great bloke to have a conversation with, plus yours and his assessments are just spot on in this we need more!!

Seriously though, this is the type of PM I want. Talk is real, have a laugh, make fun of your oppositions dirty tactics (try harder boys!). Policies aside lets start with the character first...it's easy to vote for someone that said he would do things, lies or does nothing at all. I want someone to really passionate about Australian people and would take personal responsibility to get his polices delivered.

blue heeler Because that’s just fact. Nothing the Liberals are doing are benefitting actual Australians in any way other than the rich, the religious and the corrupt. They have no sense of country, no relationship with the people, they’re completely cut off from society and reside in their own bubble where they just do whatever the hell they want to do regardless of how many lives they screw over in the process. One party actually wants to progress this country into a brighter, more stable future where people have jobs, better wages, stronger healthcare and welfare systems and actually wants real equality across the board and undo archaic laws that are decades old and absolutely irrelevant now. A party that actually gives a voice to future generations rather than outright ignoring them and catering to a generation in power that’s had its times and needs to learn to embrace change. The other party? Morally corrupt, blinded by greed, driven by division and class warfare and cares only about themselves and what they desire. We’re held back on so many levels as a country to the point where we’re laughed at by other countries because we choose to languish in backwards thinking and spending money on all the wrong areas that are not pushing us forwards (hell our internet and welfare systems are listed as some of the worst in the entire world, even behind certain third-world countries. That’s an embarrassment.) Liberal isn’t even about liberating the Australian people. It’s about confining and controlling them. It’s about warfare on every aspect of what defines you as a human being. They want you powerless, poor and weak. They want to control all aspects of culture without a balance, they couldn’t care less about the future. They want to own it through brainwashing people via their own, corporate media which successfully keeps people falling for the stories they want to the public to see and believe in, demonise all enemies and ensure people’s beliefs line up with theirs through propaganda and spins that cultivate lies and bullshit. They do not care for this country or for this world. That is the universal difference between the two. Labour isn’t perfect either, in fact until we actually have people breaking the chain and voting independent leaders into positions of power that represent the people, we won’t truly have a bright future or an actual government who’s interests lie with the Australian people. However one is better than the other and Labour is the lesser of the evil the pervades our Government. At least they have policies that would work out better for us in the long-run and aren’t run by materialism and greed.

blue heeler Then I feel for you if you want to be a pessimist and never want to try and achieve change. I could easily be a pessimist. There are many times I have been. But that’s no way to live life and things can change and be better if people woke up to that fact and stopped being arrogant in their pessimism. That’s just a way to deny accountability for complacency in allowing the corrupt to rule over society. Corruption only dies when people actually destroy it. Things do get better, if you will them to. Thinking they don’t only drowns you in the black ocean.

@blue heeler You're just being a coward mate. Have the gall to take a stance, it's easy to take a back seat and blame anyone who supports one thing or another. Being cynical has its warrants but letting it become you makes you just as bad as the one's you deem "puppets". Not making a choice at all is indeed making a choice, you're choosing to say fuck you to the world and therefore fucking yourself in the process. Labor isn't perfect, but they're better 1000x over than the liberals.
