The liberal party "sports rort" The Sydney airports land deal (nsw gov paying 10x land value to a party donor) Passing government contracts to newscorp (without use of the official tenders processes) Gave the go ahead to prosecute "whistle-blowers" who call out government conduct. Voted against a "code of conduct" which wouldn't have prevented the "donations " you speak of. Look at the UK and how the conservatives have bled the country dry, look around you and be very bloody worried.

In regards to the list of issues you mentioned did you not realise that all the politicians were doing those sort of things for a very long time. Kevin Rudd is on point with every part of his argument, but the system is corroding badly and Rudd is the one that is actually trying to fix this problem. It seems like his the one that is trying to keep the justice alive, because no one is above the law even billionaires, if a private school boy rapes a girl they should be held accountable for his actions. Not buy his way out with mummy and daddies money, this type of behaviour only enables the perpetrator to reoffend and not really learn his lesson. Rudd is like a crusader of Australian politics, but too bad he got stabbed in the back by his own party which happens too often in the politics of the parliament.

Large media in China is state controlled and it's solely to benefit the state .Large media from a non ally country (China) is far more dangerous, and given the recent events I think my point is proven further. One is punishing us economically disproportionately with tariffs due to asking for an investigation in the origin of covid, the other (the US) is not. One is persecuting millions of Uyghur people, the other is not. Want me to keep going?

Peter Warner made a comment on the dangers of having one single person containing the majority of the media which in turn control the narrative of this country. That's dangerous, regardless of which country that person is from. If you can't see that, and think having Murdoch in such a position to influence this country is a good thing, there is nothing more to say. Right now Murdoch owns this country - just ask Sco Mo.

As soon as any media or tech company steps out of line, they're punished (such as Jack Ma). If a Chinese billionaire owns 70% of our media, it would be worse, since it would be backed by the CCP and be far more prone to CCP propaganda which routinely trashes Australia

Courteney you may not have been taught this at school, because our schools have been hijacked by leftist philosophy (a much bigger problem than media concentration, but, whatever...) but we live in a LIBERAL DEMOCRACY. This is a particular kind of system of government and economy that didn't come out of nowhere and is precious and rare. I certainly believe that the spread of Chinese influence in its current form is the biggest threat to humanity in the next century. The normalization of totalitarian regimes should not be accepted.

This may be your greatest legacy to the benefit of Australia. Your power as a private citizen is right up there as your time as PM. Well done Mr Rudd. You're a genuine defender of our democracy and society!

Nicely (and objectively) put! There are those on the right who will say that left leaning media e.g The Guardian are also guilty of mixing opinion with editorial content, but they are just wrong. I have never seen an article in The Guardian with a headline "Tyrant Trump " (as opposed to the Telegraph's "Dictator Dan" ).

He is an absolute slimy coward, and you can tell, his pockets are lined with money from those who want the big Rudd, and his royal commission, to fall apart. Yet when the rug is pulled from under the senator, his baseless, venomous, and cowardice demeanor is shown of full display as he leaves with his tail between his legs, and pants around his ankles. Keep in mind, these are the kindest words I can come up for just how little this man serves his country, over his personal interests.

That regional Queensland senator was so unprofessional with his tone and how he formed his questions. He could have made the same query in a much more respectful manner, then he brings up something entirely irrelevant to the discussion (Pokie machines) and Rudd even shuts him down on that point. Love what you're doing Kev keep it up.

Senator David Van immediately leaving after the schoolyard-esque dig at Dan Andrews was nothing short of laughable. Then you have Senator Rennick deciding that a senate inquiry was the perfect time to deliver (what he no doubt considered to be ) a skilled gotcha about pokie introduction in QLD. A jump from his ego to his IQ would certainly be a fatal fall. Kim Carr seemed to have a vested interest in this inquiry since he wanted to wring out as much as he could from Kev.

That was absolutely disgusting from Senator Van. Evident that the Murdoch misinformation has seeped even into our own parliament. That he would make such misinformed and biased comments during a senate hearing that is literally about the dangers of misinformation is, like you said, laughable.

Pleased to hear that Turnbull will also be part of this enquiry .. and Thank You Kevin Rudd, for using your voice to fight for so many of us.

Whenever i see these people of power staring at their phones, it makes me wonder if they deserve the position, i understand its could be important, but your in a position of power barely paying attention. What a laughable country.

@@jangobaby6812 I'm aware of that. Queensland is considered very liberal & conservative. Kev himself even said that this is probably due to the severe monopoly of print media. From the moment the senator got a chance to speak, he was on the offensive and asking mostly unrelated & arrogant questions in an attempt to defame him. Someone so closed off to listen and reasonably discuss something, is someone very sure of themselves. Someone enabled and encouraged by official media agreeing with him. Kev (& I assume yourself?) Are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Sounds like a total dick. Lockdown last year was hard, I’m not doubting it, but there’s a whole lot of issues wider than just Dan Andrews, such as that quarantine should be out of hotels in special centres and managed by the Federal Government. And say what you want about Dan, he and his team recognised the issues and did bloody hard work to bring us down from 700+ cases to virtually zero. All the decisions were also strongly science-based in the aim of saving lives and minimising economic damage.
