@@ronelle8066 I don't know why he was there, but from context it's pretty obvious that he wasn't there to talk about the science of the greenhouse effect. He was probably there to talk about things he has noticed on the mountains as they pertain to snow conditions, given that he is a SKIIER. When your plumber tells you you need new pipes, do you quiz him on the chemical constitution of PVC, or how much of various solutes can dissolve in water? Or do you trust that he can identify a rusty, leaking pipe without needing to know all of that?

Forget his politics, that doesn't matter at all. He's typical of people his age. Far too many have strong opinions that aren't based on knowledge or facts. It's not even worth discussing a topic with them because they've already decided where they stand without doing a lick of research. We have google at our fingertips and can learn a good amount of information on basically any topic we choose. In an age where information is so widely available to all for free, it's disturbing to listen to many of the youth as they "debate or discuss" issues of the time. It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the new standard of offer a strong opinion first and learn the basic subject matter later. Sad

It’s not his one moment of fame: he was the youngest American to win a World Cup cross country skiing event and he won several other skiing championships. Education in the US ended when my World War Two vet teachers retired. Young Americans do not even know FDR refused to save any Jews and actually did many things to stop Jews from being saved. Public TV covered this in the 70s, backing up what my World War Two vet teachers told my class. But Public TV no longer tells the truth.

If I were invited to speak before congress on a subject, I'd at least try to crack a book or Google something about it. This guy must have been getting by his whole life on his looks and athleticism and only knows what he's been told, or going on his little "feels".
