I just wish people would see scientists the same way they do politicians and journalists - some do good work, but some are partisan hacks who think that facts are something they can manipulate to suit their biases. You can't assume all scientists are credible, you do actually have to look into their backgrounds and interests to see if they're telling you the truth or not.

@@rc0ll18 You're more than welcome to name and shame these 'fake' scientists. Otherwise you're coming off as someone who has a vested interest in keeping the status quo of killing off endangered wildlife in the name of making a few bucks. @@rc0ll18 Riiiight. It just so happens that 99% of climate scientists agree this is insanely destructive. And it must just be a coincidence that corporate media owned by right wing millionaires and billionaires never talks to them about any of this. Yes yes of course it must be the scientists that are the problem. Scientists have systems to confirm someone's authenticity and expertise in their field. It's really a testament to the Murdoch media that the majority of the country doesn't even seem to understand what a peer reviewed article is.

This should be the kind of segment that turns people off it for good, but judging by how that presenter stressed the jobs being created in regional areas, it's clear they know who their audience is these days - bogans who have never given a shit about anything but the size of their wallets.

And who can blame then when we've had decades of wage stagnation, rising cost of living, exploding house prices, outsourcing and technology severely reducing jobs and job security, billionaires/corporations/politicians cutting taxes for the rich and corporations, cutting services, and hoarding most of the wealth from our mining boom. People are more desperate than ever and are being conned into voting for those who are responsible for that. "You wanna let some pussy greenies and koalas stand in the way of the Jobson Growth you so sorely need?" And so corps and politicians get richer, Mullets McKenzie from the video gets to keep paying his enormous mortgage... until there's nothing left for him to chop down. To be fair, plantations are well looked after, maintained, and they employ koala spotters to make sure trees aren't cut down that have koalas in them. Anyone remember the 90's Aussie cartoon The Adventures of Blinky Bill? You know,, the series that was a sequel to the movie Blinky Bill: The Mischievous Koala, in which some loggers completely destroy the animals town? Well the first season of the show had the lines "save us from that woodchip mill" in the opening theme lyrics and the logging industry complained that the show was "anti-logging". NO FUCKING SHIT. The animals homes were literally destroyed by logging, sorry the animals didn't take into account the economics of the situation. And of course the ABC bowed to pressure and made them change lyrics and messages of the show after season 1. So apparently the ABC has always been completely gutless. Whenever I hear about logging I always think of that story. Just the idea that the loggers got upset that animals in a cartoon that had their homes destroyed should give a shit about the """""benefits""""" of the logging industry.

"Koala's are always moving." Really? Someone should have told the koala that was living in my backyard for over a year when I lived in Queensland that. Although we did used to leave a bowl of water out for it so maybe The Project can start covering how koalas are freeloaders

So in the video of Paula Flack the distinct sound of bell birds can be heard. For those who don’t know bell birds use that sound when there is scarce supply of food as it drowns out the chirps and communications of other birds. This occurrence is commonly used to identify a DYING ENVIRONMENT and a weak ecosystem. Not only does this mean koalas are losing their homes but worms , bugs and birds which are extremely important to the ecosystem are suffering from very low, insufficient, numbers.

PS my MIL lives in Lemon Tree Passage in Port Stephens that used to have so many koalas they'd keep you up at night with their grunting. Now, after years of incursions by building by investors wanting to get their tax write-off and holiday makers with dogs they won't control, you'd be lucky to see one a year. It's so sad that these amazing animals are disappearing before our eyes and the NSW govt won't do squat.
