@@e2320483 It's not uncommon to see this sort of thing at outposts. They set up an outpost, it pisses off the enemy, and they just send rounds their way from the side of some mountain, maybe they exchange for a little while, or maybe they move and do it again. The volleying rounds back and fourth can also sometimes be distractions for ambushes or other things. These guys are heroes never the less. I just thought it was kind of funny how uneven the volley distribution was.

Yeah it's nothing like the movies or the video games. Often firefights just consist of letting the enemy know you're there, ie; firing at and around where you assume they're hiding. That's just my impression from watching these type of videos. Combat might resemble something from the movies when house to house or close quarters fighting is occurring. Fortunately I know nothing about real combat haha

Intel and recon. We do our homework before just going somewhere and killing everyone we see. It's war. Innocent people will die. But our military avoids it whenever possible, accidents happen, they will die, but we'd *never* do it on purpose. Also, the people were fighting kill thousands and thousands of innocents, *and their own people*. So before you go running your mouth like a dumbass who doesn't know what they're talking about, do some research.

The fact that you actually think they're at war proves you're one of them, it's called training and they are shooting blanks, kinda like paintball but with real guns or they're just shooting at nothing, First off do you really think they'd let you go to war with a damn helmet cam? no they wouldn't, second if this was real he would not be peeking out the way he is, I mean look at it? he'd be shot in the head before he could even shoot a single shot. And if this is real myself being an ex Belgium ground soldier i'm shoked at the way they train the men, if you walked on with a god damn helmet cam you're Lt would shoot you himself, and no way is he trained to peek like that, you don't just peek your head out like that unless you're a moron. I mean look at the guy next to him hes just putting his gun out in the open and shooting without even aiming... The last i recall only medics and pilots can have a helmet cam. if you have a brain you'll know why.

For everyone whos saying they are wasting ammo shooting at nothing, It's actually called suppressive fire. They know the talibans general location so they're keeping them pinned down while another squad is flanking, or they are waiting for an air strike. It's actually quite effective. Most combat is fought at a distance through suppressing the enemy. Basically, the taliban has eyes on them, up on a hill behind a bunch of trees so if the americans were to move foward, the taliban would have a huge advantage. Makes alot of sense if you think about it. But in my opinion, I think they are suppressing a little too much. A little bit of a controlled burst every few seconds would probably be just as effective, but I'm no soldier so idk.

So a year after i saw this video , i finish highschool and i join the army , then deploy to Afghanistan where i got to know wonderful people and make bonds for life , made a bunch of cool american friends . For me it was like a trip to disneyland.. What a fucking journey. You don't need to see what you're shooting at this is what a lot of real battles are, it's not like video games where you have the ability to take risks and get close enough to zero in on someone. This is called suppressive fire and it is used to keep the enemies from shooting at you, think of it are you more likely to stick your head up when bullets are hitting all around you or when someone is waiting until they spot you to shoot. There is not the option to engage enemies on a one to one basis, it's shooting where there might be an enemy and hoping you hit them instead of the other way around.

Being “replaced” by a super duper magic jet that can take off vertically, is invisible to radar, can cruise at Mach 2.5, will outmaneuver an F-15, carries more ordinance into the fight, and dispenses free blowjobs and ice cream. I’m speaking of course of the F-35. I think if the military would lower their expectations and requirements to just a plane than can go fast, has many bombs, and still delivers BJs and ice cream (maybe just at discounted prices instead of free), the project wouldn’t be over-budget.

Shooting in bursts helps keep the weapon from overheating. You’d have to be firing the gun a lot in order for it to become hot enough to need a swap. Typically, they would switch the barrels on the vehicle mounted guns more than the infantry, as it is fired more. That doesnt mean they dont do barrel swaps in the field though.

Maybe, criticizing the fact he was trying fire after forgetting to load the belt once he cleared his jam. Just a slip I mean give the guy a break he is in a firefight. Aside from that there isn't much to criticize, marines doing their job, damn fine job at that. One thing that pisses me off is how hard it is to acquire targets, if they could have located them sooner the fight would be over quick.
