Well also take into consideration video quality. You can take a picture/vid of something that you can see but on the video it looks super far away. If bad guys are 100 meters away, that's pretty close but you're likely to not even see it on a video.

You do not hit very much with the M249, if you hit a target your job is already better than it should be. you are correct except for one thing..... I don't know who taught you how to shoot, but when I am firing my M249 I hit almost everything I aim at. Yes it is used to gain position and suppress fire, but when fired properly by an avid marksman, this weapon has the ability to be surgical. You need to keep practicing rook!

big m I don't live in a country where it's allowed to shoot weapons, I have shot a gun before at an army base (where you could try it) and it was a M96. I know what I know from war documentaries etc, so you could say I am kind-of an army enthusiast somehow. You can hit a lot with it, yet there's a huge difference between shooting with a gun, and shooting with a gun in a war. There are way more limitations to each weapon in an armed conflict. Yes, he should not have wasted so much ammo, and yes he should try to hit the target as much as possible (since you can't supress an enemy that you aren't shooting at lol). Have a nice day :) EDIT: Even though he might be shooting it the wrong way, it still sounds damn awesome :P

+big m , Dont know WTF this guys talking about either. M2's are for suppression, as are all crew served weapons. You can suppress with short bursts (As is Doctrine). With an Elcan you can effectively hit enemy in the open at 600 yards out with little difficulty. Our 249 SAW gunners in our Cav Troop constantly whakked hajis at range, I swore by my M4 topped with an ACOG 4x. As a DM I rarely needed to break out my M14, that M-4 was damn good enough. In this video you simply got a younger squad member probably not yet in many firefights or engagements. You can hear his heavy breathing, he might be over loaded with non essential gear ( a constant Noob issue) and his SGT/Squad Leader rightfully chastises him and squares him away quick. On patrol you can not have your SAW gunners run low or black on ammo. Big Bad problem as you never know how long a simple patrol can turn into a 2 day or even 72 hour nightmare.

Damn Afghanistan is really beautiful.

Nikolai Kravchenko yes we do. All units work differently ofcourse but we have almost all of them in our arsenal. FNC is the standard issue AR. Five seven the backup weapon. We have scar HPR. Minimi mk2. All combat units have the scar-l issued. We use P90 also mainly for the medical staff.

It’s not really for “hitting” as much as it is for getting heads down so that your team can get to safety or a better position to flank the enemy. Firing hundreds of rounds in full auto will usually get the enemy to duck rather than shoot which is what they are wanting it to do

The 240's weight is distributed pretty equally while using a sling. I find it more comfortable to carry over the SAW.

Late response but anything is possible just have to put your mind to it.

My subjective opinion is that That location looks pretty with snow. Although I live in a place called 'far far away land from snow' and have minimal experience with cold climates. Edit: that prolonged magdump @4:39 put an immediate smile on my face. :')

I had a "love hate" relationship with my m249. I hated it because it was so damn heavy and jammed almost every 5-7 shot. But when it got going I loved it

What was the alternative? The M60 was a worthless POS in terms of reliability compared to the M249/M240, and that should tell you something. Not even close in the Army tests, like 500% better statistically in mean rate of stoppages. Guys who had to carry the 240 complained because it was heavier than the M60; nobody I knew (including myself) complained about the SAW because it was still much lighter than an M60, which was what we'd have been carrying a decade earlier.

Devin Cloud Nah man I used to think like you when I was younger but I did my research. The soldiers out there have their heart in the right place but the motives of the higher up guys (the rich), the people that call the shots are not good. They are greedy. Also I wouldn't fight with a country that doesn't know how to handle anything either. America is sending drone strikes killing hundreds of innocent civilians out there. It's too sloppy. It makes everything worse. Imagine if they sent drone strikes over here and they killed your family? How would you feel? A lot of people say its either them or us. I say nah man that is an unethical way to handle it and it just makes everything worse. The growing number of people joining ISIS has also been because of America's sloppy way of handling it all.

i dont agree with that statement. If our men aren't over there the bad guys wouldn't have any pressure on them and they can do as they please. with our men over there it keeps us safe here at home
