    My son showed me this video (I don't have a KZread account so I'm commenting with his.) But to any veterans or any persons currently in the armed forces, I thank you for your service. During my service in Afghanistan my view of the world was changed, the word "War" was given a new meaning to me. The cookie coating of words like "horrible and terrifying" don't do justice. To be caught off guard and seconds later be caught in a firefight, To be walking along a dirt road with the knowledge that at any second you or one of your guys could be shot, it's things like this that will mess with your head in terrible ways. If anyone here knows a person who has served in the armed services, make sure they know you appreciate their decision to do what they did, it means a lot to us.

    @@zizouace4890 Dude you best look in the mirror before speaking as many nations even with the best intentions make mistakes or have a few soldiers that cause unwarranted harm to non combatants. Most that are thrust into these conditions where people are acting as your allies and friends turn on you in a blink of an eye go crazy from the stress. If you are talking as someone from there then might want to check how they treat their own people. Sure theres really good hearted people there but many hold their own down with limits certain people can achieve based on gender, region they are from and the manner in which they choose to worship the same god. Sure America and its politics arent the best examples to many but many of us rather not have to fight but we do fight as its our duty as americans to fight when called upon regardless of personal views. Those like the op that put their lives on the line especially in wars that are conducted in guerilla tactics arent to blame as many rather not be there in the first place. Yet they do and show up as men but even the best can break mentally due to the tactics of the other side. Americans you know who we are and what we look like and that we are there as the opposition's enemy. The enemy you cant tell as they use the public as shields and blend in to cause confusion. To me most of the blame falls on them and not americans as they make it impossible to trust who is on what side. Also the terror bombings on their own people to suppress the public even more isnt on the americans as its an every day thing even in areas of the world we have no presence. As for your you got beat haha stupid remark, well we could win out right and end it right there but that means killing more innocent people than the suppressors have. You call the americans the bad guys but those that you defend are killing the people at such a high rate that its sickening that you even try to defend them at all. To the op o7 i salute you and all you sacrificed for me and this hater to talk like this on here and the other freedoms i have. Thank you

    Sad that lots of gamers think this is what it is all the time. It's not. Countless hours are spent being bored out of your fucking mind, maintaining weapons and gear, and vehicles. Guard duty's a hoot.... Oh, and depending on where you're at, burning shit. I was never in Afghanistan, but I was in Iraq. Luckily, my area was pretty mellow. Not much to worry about. Lots of car bombs that targeted civilians, evil fucking assholes.

  • @Krizaey

    @Krizaey

    7 жыл бұрын

    It really is dependent on where you're at. I was in the battle of Fallujah, back when I was in 3rd Bat. 1st Marines. And let me tell you, the majority was breach room, clear house, move to the next, and occasionally get into a somewhat crazy firefight. After that I was just I sniper, that was boring. Either way I never got stuck doing too much on base work(it was about 45% of my time). So you sir got lucky.

  • @PhunkyMunky10

    @PhunkyMunky10

    SuddenDeathGaming I know I was. On my way home on leave, August '04, I saw Marines at BIAP and they were quite jumpy. I mean, I could get jumpy but these guys... I knew they'd been in some shit. Some mortars landed on the runway. I explained they were trying to disrupt air operations, not targeting the Marines specifically. But I doubt it helped much.

  • @Krizaey

    @Krizaey

    7 жыл бұрын

    StonedPatriot It sorta helps. For me it would help for a few seconds until I hear the next shot or whatever I was hearing, then it sets the mind straight back to "we're under attack!" Fallujah was something scary. I mean snipers all the time and not even our snipers knew where they were at. Suicide bombers running through streets. Shit was crazy. But I heard some crazy shit going on with BIAP and I know they must get extra jumpy.

  • @PhunkyMunky10

    @PhunkyMunky10

    SuddenDeathGaming I don't know, honestly. Only times I was at BIAP was to pick soldiers up or drop them off, or when I went on leave myself. Our FOB was down Route Irish at FOB Gunner/Highlander/Prosperity. No idea why they kept changing the name LOL. Our AO was in SE Baghdad, south of Sadr City. We had a few fights, but somehow I was never in them. Usually another platoon or another company. The one time my platoon got into a big fight I happened to be on leave LOL. I say I was lucky. Car bombs suck. So do IED's. That's not to say I wasn't around when things happened. Usually it was over by the time we got there, or it turned out to be something like celebratory fire (a wedding). One time we hauled ass for a police station that was under attack. It was over by the time we got there and as it turned out it was just one guy shooting at them. My AO was pretty mellow. Our battalion lost a few guys, had a few wounded. None of which was I present for, only one guy in my platoon was ever wounded. Shrapnel from an IED.

  • @PhunkyMunky10

    @PhunkyMunky10

    Coming home was weird though... it was strange not hearing gunfire all damn night. Usually we'd hear 1st Cav or ING/Iraqi Police mixing it up with someone during the night. Usually when we had our guard rotation we could sit in the tower at night and watch the tracers pass back and forth. We'd wonder who was who and I usually would pray that no American troops got hurt.

    Very good display of soldiering there. Great use of cover, concealment and effective communication. Great use of the belt-fed hate. Dude was ice cool. Loved the one-handed catch of the 100rd belt mag, and use of smoke for the air cover when it arrived. Again, that's a good soldier. The Canadians usually are.

    In WW1 Canadian and Australian soldiers were considered the best shock troops of the war. The sheer furiousity, professionalism and courage shown under fire were unequalled. And our casualty rate reflected this. My own family lost 2. One at Gallipoli and the other in Belgium. It is good to see this tradition continues to this today. Total respect to our Canadian brothers. Proud of you guys and glad to call you friends. From a proud Aussie. (Melbourne, Australia)

    Im not familiar with war but I've done a ton of research on PTSD of all types, and its surprisingly much less about seeing individual horrifying things (although that can definitely be traumatizing) but more so about being under constant threat. Basically, it's not the firefight that gives people PTSD, but having to constantly be aware that a firefight could occur at any moment.

But I don't have the guts to do what they do, just watching the video had my adrenaline rushing and the feeling that you get when a dog is chasing you while you running I imagine myself in the shoes of the soldiers there I wouldn't respond that effectively as they did so I salute every soldier of each country in the world in honor of their sacrifices and duty.=')

  • @TeamLeaderPG

    @TeamLeaderPG

    I understood your comment. I understand what your trying to say about the training of the soldiers. It's extreme and strict with a strong emphasis on discipline. When this sleeping giant wakes once more it will be the most horrifying occurrence this planet has ever felt. After that day whether or not the US is still here, the rest of the civilized world will wish they did something sooner. Tyranny is winning globally. Like how it won in Nam. A million more were killed when the NVA moved in south after our departure. We have created new weapons, tactics, and bigger bombs from what we learned in Nam. Now Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, and China is pushing us once again to evolve our tactics and when the gloves come off I'm afraid it will get very messy. Village killing village over who stole a carafe of water from a well is on its way in the worlds future just like the old days. I respect the US for having the insight on such things and trying to battle it. Russia and China can fight guerrilla warfare another 5000 years on their peoples blood or vast land and they know this. I would go as far as to say that it's what and how they want it.
