U.S. Soldiers Eliminate Three Taliban Fighters During Ambush

-----
If you’re looking for a veteran gaming community, follow / funker and come chill with other vets and active duty guys Mon -Fri 1400-1900EST.
The cameraman had this to say to after submitting the footage to FUNKER530:
This patrol was a relief in place and I was on point leading the new guys in for the RIP. We hadn't taken much contact in this area, and it was generally considered a "safe" zone in Logar Province.
We patrolled the area frequently, and the locals would regularly thank us for pushing the Taliban away from their village so they could live their daily lives without constant threat.
The Taliban that we came across during this patrol were actually setting up to shoot down our new surveillance balloon that was launched in the area. The balloon caught the entire fight on camera from above, which confirmed that we killed 3 Taliban fighters during this engagement.
I saw the first guy shoulder his RPG, take a knee, and point it directly at me from about 15 meters away. I'm not sure if it was luck, but I shot first and hit him twice. The rest of the team engaged immediately after.
At the end of the day there were no friendly casualties, and we had eliminated 3 Taliban fighters.
I wanted to share the video with the world because I was sick of hearing all the ignorant things said about what we are doing over there. People need to understand what it's like on the ground for the troops on the front line, and see what we have to deal with on a daily basis without some political spin on the story.
This footage has been edited to exclude the close up graphic footage of the enemy KIA.
This footage is part of an ongoing documentary of the war in Afghanistan from the soldiers' point of view.

My bother-in-law is Green Beret. And they were ambushed in Afghanistan by Taliban in July of 19. His Hummer took an RPG and he and others in his team were injured. He took shrapnel to the arm, shoulder, and neck. He fought like a boss and they took out most of the fighters until the Warthog got there and blew them to kingdom come. He needed two surgeries, and a long rehab, but he is back and in the national guard now, and he's a DPS trooper and SWAT member in Austin Texas. Total badass.

As a former member of a US military fighting unit, this is an excellent example why the United States of America has one of the best fighting forces in the world if not the best. Teamwork, respect for NCO’s and officers, and most of all communication. Understanding what the mission is. Drills, and live fire training over and over again. Fiighting for your brother on your left and on your right no matter who or where he comes from. I miss it. There’s nothing in the civilian world that I have found where I could get that same kind of true camaraderie. Then I did being a part of my fighting unit

Yeah, I mean I get heart attacks when playing COD and TF2 and all my other favorite shooters, I can’t even begin to imagine how this must feel in real life. When I’m playing a shooting game and I get a kill, it doesn’t really affect anyone. There’s a guy behind a screen who’s either mad that I got him or in a short moment of awe at my skills, either way he will respawn and continue playing until one wins or loses. In real life there is no such thing as a respawn. A life, a story is taken away. Someone has lost a family member. And at the same time, when a battle is won or lost there is no end screen telling you “Good job! You were the top MVP! You got 155 kills and 3 deaths!”. The battle is just over and you have to move on, eventually as you and your mates get a moment of peace you’ll probably start thinking about the people you killed and who they might have been. And the fear you felt in the battle dawns upon you afterwards. War is one of the scariest things that exist in this world

Look imbecile, Im not an American and I dont live there. How exactly are they fighting for freedom? If you could explain with arguments I could believe they are actually doing that, but not even your authorities can explain that. Regime changes don't make any sense, everyone should be allowed to live however they want, despite what you and your government consider normal. You are not a measurement of normal. Why can you just mind your own fucking business? No, you want to be heroes. No one looks up to you and sees heroes in you! You never had a war on your own soil and you probably dont understand what war is. I wish I can punch you in the face for being such a stupid and ignorant human being who doesn't understand war brings death to innocent people. But I guess its okay if they are not close to you. I know it's easier for you to believe your government has good intentions but I shit on you for being such a coward who doesn't have time to look at the facts of any war US was involved in since WW2. It was always your fucking fault, you brainwashed idiot! Dont you understand that you are what Germany was before WW2, you scum of the earth. Models of brainwashing changed but ideology stayed the same! Pls for God's sake look at the reasons for you being in the war and explore them, question them, question authority and face the truth. You are on the wrong side once again.

I'd be the first one to probably die to be honest, mad respect for these guys. We not always fights for the right cause but they look at death everyday and come back home and say "tomorrow is another day" and continue to go out and patrol again. Zancuto I'm not really all that sure it works that way. You can't just say "im not scared" and they'll deploy you. You can go into the marines for one thing and be sent to do another. Read my last comment about my own friend in the marines, he wanted to be on the front lines but two guys keeping post (if that's the correct term) showed up hammered from the night before to keep post the following day, they got a Dishonorable discharge and my friend took their place. Now he's all depressed and hates it. What I'm also trying to say is their reaction to live fire is like "eh just another day getting shot at. Nothing new" I know they're highly trained and are used to it but I'd probably never be able to stay as calm as they do with bullets aimed at me.

I'm no army dude but I think that has to do with what information you relay and if you can keep holding that ground: If someone is shot you should find a way to cover that dude and find him some better ground. It should also help with the head-count _without_ having to count. you say "everybody cool?" expecting 5 A-OK but if you only get 4 then you know without looking who you lost and what angle is now ripe to be flanked. You don't need that as a civ, because you don't need to react in the same way (or as fast) for most of the time. again, I only play video games.
