10th Mountain Infantrymen Ambushed By Taliban At Close Range

The official Funker530 iOS/Android app (funker530.app.link/AppDownload) is where you can watch the latest videos from Ukraine, analyzed by our team of combat veterans. Grab it today and enable notifications to get a ping when breaking videos and news start trending.
-----
Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division's 1-87 Infantry Regiment are conducting a dismounted patrol when they are ambushed by Taliban militants at relatively close range.
The cameraman and his machine gunner have a textbook reaction to the attack and charge violently forward while suppressing. They take up what cover they can find while providing suppressing fire for the exposed soldiers behind them.
They are able to get on a lateral line and identify and engage suspected enemy locations 50 meters to their front. Enemy rifle rounds repeatedly crack through the air, very near to the American troops. Approximately half way through the video, the camera is knocked down, but the remaining audio of gunfire and verbal communication allows the viewer to understand what is happening.

My son is 10th mountain. He was deployed twice and came home both times hurt . The second time did it. He medically retired and received a Purple Heart. He is a pastor of a church and has a beautiful family. I can’t even phantom the lil boy I raised , taught how to tie his shoes , ride a bike went thru this on a daily basis. I thank God and the family he served with that he is home and alive. Thank you to all who have and served..

I’ll never forget my time with the 10th Mountain. There was this guy, from Texas kind of a goofball kid, but we gave him the saw, and to be honest he was always a concern of mine. But when the time came that goofball kid kind of pigeon toed, not very athletic, not very fast, but he had a big heart and he never gave up, always providing the accurate fire we needed under all kinds of duress. This video remind me how much I miss everyone of those guys, and I often wonder how they’re doing.

And that is why you have a grenadier and light machine gun in the front. You can lay down some good suppressive fires while the rest of the team and squad get on line. Way to keep assaulting into the ambush too, not that they had much choice, but that kind of movement can change the momentum of the engagement. Nicely done.

the heavy breathing of this soldier during this battle, it's so surreal, i cant imagine the bravery it would take, regardless of the war, you must commend these brave souls and support them after their trauma!!! this is such a horrible thing to go through the lack of proper veteran support from many governments is sickening.
