Watch footage of the Eagles live from the 1970s. All those signature licks, all those tasty fills that generations of fans have air-guitar’d to over the years - they’re all Felder. His touch, his tone and his talent are as much a part of the Eagles as anything else. A ludicrously brilliant musician. Deserved better treatment.

They would not have been in the hall of fame without Hotel California. They wrote the lyrics, he wrote the music. They made one or two country rocks albums in the 2000s, not a memorable song from them. But they keep toruing off of the songs from the seventies.

I've loved the Eagles since the early 70's when I was 12. A huge part of the sound track of my youth! Henley and Frey are/were pricks and ego maniacs. Watching Don Felder and Joe play solo parts is so amazing. Timothy too! Check out the story of Randy Meisner and why he quit.

I was at the Eagles shows in 94 and 96 and remember Walsh and Felder goofing off to 'All She Wants to Do is Dance., as Felder mentions. Henley was such a control freak (and still is) on stage while ignoring that those two catapulted the band into super stardom.

If you watch the Eagles doc, there's a story Frey tells where they wanted Randy to sing Take it to the Limit for an encore and Randy was tired of it and didn't want to sing and Glenn Frey lost his mind. So early on Glenn and Don were trying to be the big bosses of a 5 man band.

  • @kitrichardson2165

    @kitrichardson2165

    Жыл бұрын

And that’s a good example of how there are two sides to every story because take it to the limit was one of their best songs and the reason it was told later that Randy Meisner couldn’t sing it because he stayed up drinking all night and partying. So you gotta show up for work buddy and I can understand people who are driven a professional like Glenn Frey, and Don Henley not being willing to tolerate that. And maybe that’s not even the correct story -that’s the problem with all of these rock ‘n’ roll anecdotes

I used to be a Don Henley fan for many years...I am a musician, and was told many times that I sounded a lot like him when I sang.. Over the years it got old because I was trying to do my own thing , so I lost interest in his music, not sure why....After seeing how much the Eagles was a coorperation, I lost interest in their music too..I realize that it was a business, but every member was a big part of every song they ever recorded and every member stood out at it should in a recording group..

Wonder who wrote the Beatles Contract... songwriter should get another percentage & copyrights. What if another band player Improved a word or two during practice ? It Happens to all bands, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, sometimes just Burnt out, never happened to Bee Gees bcos they were Brothers, Jackson 5... Don Felder is the Good Guy, Timothy B Schmidt is a pleasant guy who's happy to be an Eagles "paid employee" although each help contribute to the overall Image, Aura and the Personality of The Eagles

For years I never knew what to make of the whole Felder/Eagles war. His 2001 termination seemed so random and out of the blue--what in God's name could he have done to get fired from the most functionally dysfunctional band in rock and roll history? Then there was the litigation and the settlement. Then there was the Long Road Out Of Eden album/tour, sans Felder. Then there was Felder's book, which was downright painful to read; you get the sense that he wrote the book in between tanning sessions on the cross he built for himself. Then there was the Eagles doc with angry Henley and Frey speaking of "Mr. Felder" with embittered looks on their faces while Felder himself (literally) cries: "I miss my friends." I thought: "Geez! After EVERYTHING those guys had been through together, how come they were never able to find a happy medium? What the fuck--they're grown-ass men!" Then I saw this video and finally realized why. The reason Henley/Frey hate Felder to this day is because he got paid and paid and paid and paid..... Take a screenshot of Angry Henley or Angry Frey from the Eagles doc and juxtapose that with the shit-eating grin Felder flashes @4:05 in this video. YOU TELL ME who came out of that lawsuit with their arms aloft in victory. Lmao! Guess you really can never leave the Hotel California....not until they cough up tens of millions of dollars! Go Felder!

People comment about Howard Stern, but that’s the way his show was. Everyone knew that’s what to expect going on his show. It’s shock radio, which rhymes with something else… But you know where you stand with him, at least. Also, he may be quite vile in his delivery, but you have to give him credit for being smart. And the guy works very hard (for the last 40 years). And most of what he says is fair.

He also received a Draft Number of 076 in the December 1st , 1969 lottery for all those born in the1940's.. Those numbers called went to 195, So he is a Draft Dodger in my book, and a Coward.. So one has to wonder why he is so greedy to have the majority of ownership of the Eagles, when so many have contributed.? He gets rid of Bernie and Randy early on by starting arguments. Then Finally Don Felder, who would not give up, so the attorney was necessary .. Joe Walsh and Timothy Smith each should now own shares instead of being paid like journeymen..

I had no issue with their album being put out by Walmart. A double CD for the cost of less than a single CD at amazon.com? The problem is that aside from 4 or 5 tunes, "Th e Long Road Out Of Eden" sucked. Largely because it became a Glenn Frey adult contemporary A&R record. Not one searing Joe Walsh guitar lick.

My thought was Frey and Henley wanted Felder out of the picture so they had absolute control over all the money. The rest of the "band" are really nothing more than paid employees. Walsh burned out long ago, and is nothing more than a mere shadow of what he once was as a live performer. I won't go to see them ever again. I hadn't missed a tour since 1974. It's over for me.

Glenn was a world class douchebag. His ego was bigger than Henley's. If he had treated his band mates as brothers it would be a different story. Bernie left, Walsh came in as a hired hand. Lost interest in the Eagles many years ago because it seemed they were 100 percent about money and business...Just my opinion , I only listen to the Walsh/Felder input, for without either one of them, they are just another band..Walsh/Felder are the Eagles. Truth be known, the Eagles were originally a Country blue grass band, so without Bernie , they changed format to rock , which I really liked

Too many big Egos in the Eagles. Too bad Henly and Fry couldn't have lightened up a bit.

Greed. Fielder was the greediest of them all the fact he has confirmed he settled if what he says is true and he was that much in the right why didn't he go to court usually. You only. Settle if your losing your case.

Though excellent musicians and composers, Don Henley and Glenn Frey (RIP), were both egotistical, controlling, greedy pricks. They both had the "I love me some me" attitudes. lol.

I don’t understand. As CFO, you - Don Felder - are in charge of the finances. Yet you didn’t know what they were like, and when you challenged that were ousted. Doesn’t make sense.

Cannot stand when Howard asks a question and interrupts every single answer! No one wants to hear Howard. Everyone is here for Don Felder.

Don and Joe were the best part about seeing the live show. Always thought Randy and later Timothy had the best voices. Henley and Frye were OVERRATED!
