I didn't realize Sam could play guitar, yet alone that well!

That wasn’t very good playing. He even threw Joe’s singing off once or twice
Honestly, he is the only other guy in the world who could convey this song on the right way. I still think he’s one of the most underrated vocalists in rock. The guys range is unbelievable.
The best thing the Eagles EVER did was add Joe Walsh
I miss those days, old Howard, Sam and Joe. Best radio ever

Exactly! One's gone🙏, one's sober (that's a good thing👍) & one has become the exact thing that he made a fortune mocking for thirty years.🙄👎
This Is Mind-blowing
Walsh is a great guitarist. I saw him do a version of the Beatles Something on KZread and he played the George solo to perfection.

He's truly great- so how cool is it that he played that little travel keyboard while Sam did those great guitar fills? So many amateurs would have played over the vocals but Sam obviously was no amateur.
Kinison is playing a lead the whole time 😄 I recall him being a really good pianist too.

Probably my all-time favorite Howard Stern show music performances. This, Counting Crows cover of Friend of the Devil and Leslie West cover of Blowin in the Wind on the final day at KROCK.
Still moving.Loved it.Good job by Joe and Sam !
I saw the Eagles when they opened invesco stadium in denver in 2001. The next day my boss at work asked me how the concert was. I told him What I saw was the Joe Walsh show with the best back up band he ever had. Joe literally stole the show...The encore was Joe singing and playing Rocky Mountain Way. It brought the house down... The place went crazy.
this is excellent

This is the best rendition of Desperado bar none.

Wow. What a treat. 🙏
Thanks for posting this video. I’ve loved this version ever since the first time I heard it on the Stern show many years ago.

Sam was that damn good!! Seen him on the SnL opening and burned down a solo!!
Love it!
Wow that was great never knew Sam played 👍👍👍👍👍
Such a unique voice.. love it
This is great. Didn't know Kinison could play.
At the time, I would have thought the guitar needed to be turned down a lot, but looking back, I'm glad it was louder than anything else.
Joe walsh Genius
Love Joe !
I remember when I first heard Desperado. I remember how much it affected me even though I didn't understand the meaning of it. May Joe and Sam both rest in peace.

The old channel 13 show. That’s when Stern was hitting on all cylinders
Wow! NO IDEA! BOTH WERE GREAT!
My ex was the Eagles managers assistant. She has some great stories.
I met Sam in line at the United ticket counter in O'Hare....he had two very young (18-20 year old) girls with him who he made carry two suitcases each....lol
Hey now, I never knew Sam Kinison could play guitar like that!!! What a great, funny and talented man he was!
Thanks for uploading this. Hopefully it stays up. Glenn Frey does a fantastic version of the song also on the Letterman show (and his live album). But either the Eagles or CBS keeps taking it down.
Some are blessed with one talent sam got an extra scoop for two special gifts we sure miss him
I am absolutely amazed at Sam Kinisons hidden talents, sings well too. Sorry we didn't get to enjoy him getting old and mellowing out, Anybody who hasn't seen his Johnny Carson appearance needs to watch it on YT. It's fantastic! No vulgarity!
Hey, Joe. Greetings from Wichita.
HENLEY BLEW HIS TOP, WHEN JOE SCREWED THIS UP.
That great Sam really could play the guitar I didn't know he could play that good I still feel bad about his death this many years gone bye my son saw him a not too long before he died coming out of a studio or nightclub I'm not sure on the sidewalk in Hollywood my son was out in front I don't know if he was waiting for him or what I don't know the details of that I know he was there when Sam came out and he saw my son standing there and he did a high five Sam made the first move very nice not like some
To my ears, he was soloing throughout. Pretty decently.
Gotta be the weirdest musical video I've ever seen, but I like it. ✌️. RIP bro's. 👍
NICE !!!!! Joel in Florida
Good times! Nice work Joe Walsh & Kinison. Love Howard, especially back then. Love Robin that M%therf&cker Fred-Love, Angry Alice
How did Joe make it? Sober Joe is much better these days...nice version. He was so close to dying. Like Joe but not...almost disabled in a way. He is clear but nuts today : )
great
Sam keeping it real on the guitar…
I miss Sam. I got to see him in 1989. Beyond HILARIOUS. The modern Left in 2023 would lose their minds over Sam's style of comedy. Sam wasn't exactly PC. I knew Sam played, but I didn't realize he played so well.

I adored Sam Kinison. He made me laugh so hard--not a fan of his screaming after the first few times, but when he played "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and then lost his shit, screaming "BITCH! I WANT MY RECORDS BACK! DIE DIE DIE!" I laughed until I choked.
Hell Yeah 👍
mind blown. god I miss Sam
Joe is so f'ing talented it's ridiculous!
kinison was very talented he could sing too
My favorite part is the cameraman dashing and ducking around behind the participants! I can hear the director in the headphones now: "Down, Dougie, down, for Chrissakes!"
Sam was a talent taken away from us before we understood his nature
Was a fan of Sam.. watched a lot of his comedy but never knew he played guitar.. much less that well. 😊
I said hi to Kinison from a distance.Drivin down PCH in I think, don't remember was black corvette.License plate read: EX-REV.I pulled up along side of him.He was on his phone and I slowed to remain next to him.He glanced over wearing his beret and I gave him a 👍.He just gave me a knod and I sped up and waved as I left him in my rear view.About 5 years later. He was killed by that 17 yr.old! 😡

I saw Sam once near Santa Barbara, California, on Hwy 101. He was in an SUV, and as they passed us, I saw him and yelled wholly crap, that's Sam K, he saw me and gave us that maniacal laugh. And we all went crazy.
I remember this day. It caused a big problem with Howard and Joe. Joe ask Howard not to play this on the air but Howard did anyway.
Sounds like Randy Newman covering Desperado
Cool vid
Yep
I didn't think it was going to be serious. Figured Sam would "AH AH DESPERADO! YOU'DE BETTER GET THE FUCK DOWN! OPEN THE FUCKING GATE!!
Joe looks like bubbles from TPB’s mom .
Joe is good. Don should let him do it on stage some day. I miss Sam. He was large part of my 20s.

Would’ve loved to have heard Randy sing this song though
“If you perform Desperado, will it make Don Henley mad?” “Yes.” “So will you do it?” “Yes.” 😂😂
Joe wasn't exactly clean and sober during this time in his life, so forgive him for almost forgetting a line and being pitchy here and there.

This is probably from Howard's TV show on WOR Channel 9 in Secaucus, NJ. It had potential. Kind of a variety show with skits and entertainment. They had some cool guests also. I don't think they had the budget or the following that Howard enjoys now. It's a go to show now for interviews.
The ch. 9 show was the best.
Interesting lyrical improvisation.
Joe's like a cool Randy Newman.
A bit of a resemblance between Joe (here) and Donnie Vie from Enuff Znuff (back in the day).
I'm surprised Don didn't flag this! 🤣
