    +Emanon Schmergner do you think so..Glen and Don always made him sound like he was ungrateful and couldn't accept a certain position. Theysaid also in that documentary that not everybody can be the leaders:Glen and Don definately set the standard for the Band..lets see if Don Felder returns after the Glenn's passing.

    Most dogs that get fed, well, they never bite the hand that feeds them. He should always take the high rode, as the group NEVER suffered after he was run off from the group. They, The Eagles, minus Felder, were still GREAT, he was and is, done.

    Yes, Don is one of a kind.. I was told that he and Joe Walsh had fire extinguishers turned on them during that guitar riff that closes “Hotel California.” That’s what makes the song. I’m kidding about the extinguishers, but the sound guys had to close them out.

    Isn't it ironic that Felder is so chill when talking about the Eagles, but those guys can only talk about him in angry tones, and Walsh/Schmidt seem to not be able to talk about him at all.

  • @PinkLaffs

    @PinkLaffs

    4 жыл бұрын

    2 HitWonder - the reason Schmidt and Walsh stay mum is because they are still contracted and paid separately from the Eagles pot. They can be fired at any given moment. Felder, Henley, Frey as well as Leadon and Meisner created the Eagles Ltd. corporation shortly before Leadon jumped ship, and were each paid 1/5 a piece of whatever the corporation earned. Leadon and Meisner eventually divested themselves from Eagles Ltd. after their resignations. That is why Felder became concerned when Frey and Henley decided to move the goal posts in the 1990s to tilt the scales in their favor. The only one who was still an active member of Eagles Ltd. was Felder, so he had a vested interest. That was also why Frey and Henley decided to fire him and divest him from Eagles Ltd. Schmidt and Walsh have always been treated as guns for hire. Sad. They are not part of Eagles Ltd., and that was by design. They receive songwriting royalties and a piece of the touring profits. But that’s it. In some ways, Frey’s death was a form of poetic justice. Henley is the last man standing in Eagles Ltd., and by most accounts, still a curmudgeonly, angry individual. When Henley tours now as "The Eagles," I tend to think of it more as "Don Henley and Friends" or a glorified tribute band (kind of like the touring version of The Beach Boys). The real Eagles ended when Felder was fired. Then it was Frey/Henley + Schmidt/Walsh.

    Both Glen Frey and Don Henley really took a hot steaming shit on Don Felder. As CFO of the corporation, he had every right to inquire about expenditures and band decisions he was never made aware of. There solution to an inquiring mind is termination. I don't blame Don Felder for slapping a lawsuit on his former bandmates, he was left no choice. I see no reason for there not to be a reconciliation, especially for the sake of the fans. Greed and Jealousy seems to run rampant behind the scenes with the Eagles organization.

    He may have but Jagger/Richard probably took credit for it. They created the name Nanker Phelge when song writing credits went to the whole band.Bill Whyman says in his book he came up with the "Jumping Jack Flash" rhythm and it should have gone under the Nanker Phelge banner but Jagger/Richards took credit for it along with "Paint it Black" which was also a band effort that they took writing credits for. So it is possible Taylor had a rfff or two stolen from him by Jagger/Richards.

    Check out his two solo songs on the 1980 soundtrack album Heavy Metal. Both are superb. Better than almost everything on the last Eagles album, and better than anything from the scab Eagles album Long Road out of Eden.

    Glen Frey is the Roger Waters of The Eagles. He is both absolutely talented beyond question and completely narcissistic. I do think Henley has a bit of this issue as well but it seems to be Frey who's always at the forefront of firing people. The History of the Eagles tour was incredible but without Felder and Meisner (not their fault) it wasn't very big on history outside of having Bernie back in the fold (which was fantastic).

    I agree, Frey is very controlling. In the end, Felder was right. Legally, he was a equal partner with Frey and Henley. He was awarded $50m.

    MechanicalAnimal Meisner continuously refused to sing his song "Take it to the Limit" while touring because he was sick of it or not up to it. Frey reminded him that everyone in the band was tired of singing their songs also but that what the fans wanted and that's what make them the success that they were. After a concert of Meisner not singing Take it to the Limit, Frey told Meisner if he didn't want to do his part, he should just quit. I doubt Frey wanted him to quit but to just sing his song. Meisner quit.

    Artie, my take about Glenn Frey as well. And Don Henley’s defense about no one had the right to demand a vocal (Victim of Love) like him demanding playing lead guitar. Ironic as he demanded he sing over Don Felder’s vocal behind his back.

    I’ve been the documentary a few times and am currently reading Felder’s book. Does anyone know if the track of Felder singing VOL is available anywhere? I’d like to hear it. Lone dissenter here: I’ve actually always preferred Frey’s vocals to Henley’’s, although I think both of them are great. Just don’t like how Henley gets elevated as the best singer. I don’t agree. They each were equally good. They had different styles. Frey’s vocals were smoother and more laid back. Henley had that rasp which was appealing in a different way.

    Don and Glenn contributed the most to the eagles and having Don as a full member was a thorn in their side. They wanted all the control as well. I think Glenn was an amazing guitarist as well but appeared to be more narcissistic and Don was probably more laid back and was printed by his wife to stand up to them. Band dynamics are complicated and it’s sad when it comes down to name calling and fights, just like real brothers.

    In contrast when you have that much talent within a band with each band member being gifted in so many different area's it's kind of inevitable that these guys would bang heads & have ego's etc...
