Don Felder Heaven & Hell, my life in the Eagles HowardTVFelder01

Музыка

Frey & Henley try to rewrite history & can't respect anybody that does that.. Long night at wrong beach is not what broke them up.. It was Frey loosing control of HIS band to Henley over the Hotel California album & the fact he sang lead on 1 song on that whole album ( New Kid in Town ) Don Henley sang lead on 5 songs & it pissed Frey off to no end.. Don Henley even to this day will tell you that The Eagles is Glenn Frey's band... Ok the leader of The Eagles has 1 song on their biggest album ever & the guy that's not the leader well he has 5 songs on that album & now the Rock & Roll industry & fans start to see the real leader because of the material .. So the record company is a lot more interested in the material new leader has to offer to put on a new album & a lot less interested in what the old leader has to put on a new album.. Frey fucking hated & resented Henley for taking his band away from him .. and that is where 95% of the animosity & friction came from that 5% was just an excuse called long night at wrong beach.. Neither one will admit that to this day & still make Felder the fall guy.& it's wrong.. In the History of The Eagles it is never addressed mentioned or hinted at.. You can't rewrite history just because it helps you sleep at night & makes it easier to take the stage next to an asshole you resent & can't stand just to collect a big ass check you don't deserve... YOU WANT FACTS THEN I GIVE YOU FUCKING FACTS

Why Felder? Because if you watch them live the man is perfect and never misses a note. They all were and are great live performers but he is as good as any of them.

I love the title track Heavy Metal for the animated movie of the same name.. In his book he reflects back on writing & recording those tracks for that soundtrack.. I think he did both tracks in less than a week.. He also talks about it on another guitar interview, the guy was asking him about sheet music for Heavy Metal ..It is or was posted on KZread ( I found it 2 years ago on here not sure if it's still up now or not) .. thanks for the reply.. I watched all these videos and the history of the Eagles and I come to the conclusion that Glen Frey and Don Felder can't work together and Felder took the settlement, so it's over unless Glenn takes him back into the band. Don Felder co- wrote Hotel California and gets credit for that, as far as staying a member of the Eagles "It's History" I know when I was in a band it's not easy to get along sometimes when there is all that talent, and with the Eagles there is very much money involved and that changes people and greed and anger kicks in. The Important thing is that the music is legend and the band stills performs it live, I saw them recently at the Forum in LA it was a great show, lose a few more members then it will be all gone ! Enjoy them now, the fighting will continue.

07/18/1994 On a Monday 20 years ago this Month I drove with a friend a little over a 100 miles to the Omni in Atlanta to see & hear something I thought would never happen & that was going to an Eagles Concert.. No opening act just Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Timothy B Schmit & Glenn Frey ( I wished Randy Meisner would of should of been there just for Take it to the limit, what an iconic song ) Don Henley did a lot of his solo material mixed in with his Eagles catalog & every song was word for word & note for note perfect.. Tim the same way with I can't tell you why.. Glenn's voice was the one that had changed the most.. everything 1980's up sounded awesome, Take it easy sounded like it was being sung by someone else.. & Joe Walsh was nailing just as good as Henley song after song, I mean the James Gang stuff was perfect also.. FUNK 49# WAS FUNKING AMAZING.. Then the moment that came too soon but what I had waited well over a decade for.. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave.. Felder with his double neck Gibson & Walsh with his Fender face to face & it's like the video on VH1 & now KZread we have all seen 2 million times ( working on 3 ) Don's saying I need a wrist band as Joe yells back, hang on to that wine & you are right there & it's the best night of your life..

I just remember thinking, "I have not heard some of these songs". Could they have been some of the new Eagles songs that you had not yet heard? I have a hard time believing that put anything in that concert that was not Eagles. I have really liked some of the new stuff they did.

Leadon appeared on the first two albums. Then Felder recorded On The Border and One of these Nights, and Walsh came along from first bands James Gang and next Barnstorm, to Eagles. Roots of the Eagles....Leadon played with Doug Dillard (The Dillards) and Gene Clark (Byrds), next The Flying Burrito Brothers with Chris Hillman, Michael Clarke, and (Gram Parsons 2nd Generation Byrds). Randy Meisner came from Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band. Frey and Henley were session musicians for Linda Ronstadt

I love the Eagles music and all. But I'll be honest. I'd be totally cool with Felder and Joe Walsh forming a whiole new band that focuses on their awesome guitars. Joe Walsh could sing. Something harder edged maybe? That would be cool. They would have a lot of fun I think in a band like that. Sort of like what Michael Anthony did with Chickenfoot with Satriani, Hagar and Chad Smith

It was a treat to get exposed to Don's personality, but watching the whole interview, felt badly that he needed to stoop as low as Stern to get exposure. Stern's asking if Felder and Walsh ever had sex was beyond vulgar. At any rate, all people have their short comings, and while any of the Eagles may have said or done things that, if they had the chance at a do-over would say or do them differently, we DO have the music that we have, and WOW about that!~ Can't wait to see what they may put together in the afterlife!~ Meanwhile, if you want to see them at what may have been their best, you can see all five of them (Tim, Glen, Don Don, and Dave) by youtube searching "Eagles New Zealand". This was in '94. Wonderfully filmed with multiple cameras and well edited too! Enjoy!~ !

"Take It To The Limit" became the band's first gold single and the album was nominated for album of the year. You are right and Joe Walsh isn't Felder. He's not even in the same arena. Felder kicks his ass as a guitasrist and I love Joe Walsh as well. Look at the Eagles now they haven't been the same since Felder left. As a matter of fact they still live off the biggest song they ever had "Hotel California". Felder single handily wrote. You need to read a little history of felder and the people he has been associated with. He is an incredible guitarist. Very, very underated and Walsh isn't.

All songs with lead vocals by Henley and Frey need to be knocked down at least a step or two (i.e., half an octave). Great songs, great singing, but very difficult for these guys to hit the notes at this point in time.

Went to D.F & said, I know we have a binding legal contract for a 3 - way profit split but D.H & I have had the most commercial success since the split in 1980... We are the ones that have been waving the flag & keeping the interest alive for an Eagles reunion, therefore I think that we should renegotiate our original deal so that D.H & I receive a larger share of the profits... Instead of being a coward by dodging him then making Irving Azoff ( AKA SATAN ) deal with it by firing Felder..

THE BEST thing the Eagles ever did was get rid of Felder who is/was nothing but greedy and arrogant! It's my opinion as a professional musician and life long Eagles fan, the Eagles actually sounded better after Felder was ousted from the band. Don't ever be deceived in thinking Felder left, he was tossed out because the rest of the band was sick of his greed and his constant complaining, plain & simple.

+Texas Hi-Railer I somewhat agree with what you are saying. I've been in a band for 5 years and by the 5th year, I NEEDED TO LEAVE. 5 years is a long time doing one thing. I loved and hated the guys I played with. We were brothers but we just couldn't be around each other. I'm a HUGE fan of the Eagles since I've been listening them with my dad since I was a toddler, so I read books and watched all the documentaries. There are many accounts on what happened. A lot of people blame Frey and Henley. Some people like you blame Felder. I can tell that egos get in the way with bands. I was the only person who actually got a university degree in music/piano performance/production and played bass in the band and keyboards in recordings. I knew for a fact that I knew more about music in general than my bandmates. But I never let it take over. I appreciate all contributions for everyone to critique my music (which we had to do in college with each other) or to allow me to hear what my fellow musicians hear when they hear my music. I guess Felder's ego blew up in his face to the point where he hated Glenn and vice versa. I've always liked Joe Walsh over Felder (and an interesting observation is when you hear the audience reactions back in the 70s when either Felder or Walsh played their solos- Walsh always got the louder, better reaction from the audience). So i don't know even back then (when audiences/fans were less informed on the state of the condition bands were in) if they knew what was going on internally and they were picking sides. Who knows? But yeah, I loved when Walsh, Felder, Frey, Henley and Meisner were all onstage together because they made magic, egos aside. That's another thing too- I really like Meisner's harmonies and bass playing. Apparently the other guys really liked him as well, but he left because he wanted to be with his family more often.

+Texas Hi-Railer Yeah Felder was fired from The Eagles that's pretty much common knowledge & that's a big part of the reason he filed his lawsuit against his former bandmates.. Even though The Eagles was conceived & created by Glenn Frey & was his band after they started getting famous at the request of Glenn Frey & with a legal team in tow all 5 members Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Bernie Leadon & Randy Meisner entered the office of one Irving Azoff with a legally binding contract sitting on his desk that all 5 members signed stating each member had an equal share in the band, no one with a higher percentage than the other & if any members left the band they would forfeit their shares to be distributed equally back to the remaining members and if any new members entered the line up from that day on would not be offered an equal share but would put under contract and hired as paid musicians instead ( Joe Walsh Timothy B. Schmit ) Glenn Frey disbanded The Eagles in July, 1980.. After the reunited for Hell Freezes Over Don Felder was fired February 6, 2001, from the Eagles the rest let's just agree to disagree on.....R.I.P Glenn Frey, Your music is timeless & already loved by millions of people all over the world & will continue to be by future generations to come & you Sir will be missed... Respect deserved, respect paid..
