When the whole premise of your movies is a shared cinematic universe (e.g. the MCU) it will inevitably get to a point where it will not be possible for every movie you make to be a ‘valid entry point’. That may have been possible after maybe 5, 10 or even 15 movies but there are now over 30 movies in the MCU. And if you think watching movies or entertainment is ‘homework’ then maybe, just maybe, a cinematic universe is just not for you.

“Maybe just maybe a cinematic universe is not for you” who are you talking to? Disney has tried a more homework oriented MCU for the last 4 years and it’s been a failure. The idea behind “homework” led to the biggest flop in MCU history in the Marvels. And the “homework” is not just entertainment. The audience is expected to be caught up on the D+ shows too, so now on top is seeing the movie, I have to pay a monthly fee AND watch multiple shows and movies. This is why the MCU is failing.

I haven’t watched Shogun but there is no downside to doing a s2 like most shows. Shogun finished its arch/book. S2 is fluff. You can watch it as an extended epilogue or completely ignore it if it sucks. What it won’t be is a Heroes bc their story wasn’t finished and didn’t live up to epicness of the first season.

Also just to draw upon the idea of negative space and the philosophical themes of life and death in the show, I would be absolutely fine if the show ended with just one season, we don’t necessarily have to know what happens next, the show left the characters at a good place.

@@alexp601 That might be a bit of a stretch for me to agree with but to each their own 🤷🏽‍♂️ As a whole it felt anticlimactic. By the time we got to the canon episode I had higher expectations for the rest of the season. Not that it had to be all war or action but I thought it'd be more flowing in regard to character arcs and plot points. I'm sure it's just following how the book and original show went but it wasn't as interesting as I expected. Felt like a lot of wasted space or repeated moments by the end.

"Shogun" is amazing. It does not need a sequel.

It still blows my mind that thee only representation of Moana in the theme parks is a glorified water fountain. Such a missed opportunity. They redid Splash Mountain…that was the perfect opportunity for a Moana ride. I mean great for Princess and The Frog fans but to me Moana was infinitely more successful and more popular. Moana is a perfect movie and really one of the only Disney animated movies ive had the pleasure of being forced to watch over and over again when I was baby sitting my nieces during a period of time when I was unemployed. All the others have large chunks of the movies that are either boring or the music isn’t all that great or whatever the reason may be. But for some reason Moana’s story, animation, characters, and music are very likable even for adults which used to be fairly common but not so much in recent years.

26:32 I think even having watched Wandavision it still didn’t explain why Wanda was now a super evil witch murdering everyone in her path. Her being a woman who experienced emotions just isn’t a good enough explanation. Yeah yeah “the darkhold influenced her” but they didn’t truly explain that very well. So at first glance it just seems like she went on a murder spree because she lost someone. Literally half of the universe lost 50% of everyone they’ve ever known or met but sure her boyfriend now being a white guy and not sticking around and her imaginary children disappearing is a reason enough to kill at least a hundred people or so.

Anything is possible but to undermine that Shōgun was a successful novel that the show was adapted from is too easy. We all saw that happens when good material runs out and people start to grab at things just for a cash grab, GOT anyone. Why cannot this just be a limited series and move on to something new. All the ideas purposed is not a second season of Shōgun but rather new creative story but with the same crew. At that point your speaking about season one of whatever the new idea is not the continuation of Shōgun.

I'm a simple man, i see Kris Carr is back, i upvote.

Yeah, the main takeaway of Shogun is how the Japanese reclaimed their sovereignty and was the obly nation to resost colonization by force. A show about Commodore Perry Steaming into Japan with technology 200 years in the future compared to Japan would be better. It would have to be like Last Samurai, but starting a couple of years earlier and ending with the Russo Japanese War.

There’s been a million great original things that didn’t have a book to go on. The issue isn’t that Season 8 went off book so that automatically made it bad, it’s that D&D couldn’t make a good story without a book.

Rings of Power was the worst tv show ever made compared to expectations and compared to the actual story. Taking it for its own story it wasn't a terrible show, but the way I watched the show and know the lore.....its the equivalent of making a Christopher Columbus show, and instead of making him the monster he is and making the Natives the people who were wrongly overtaken and enslaved by him, they made Christopher a savior of these savage Natives and the fact that they don't accept his rule is just wrong. Thats not a 1 to 1 because its ROP is not history, but comparing Tolkien "history" and real history its similar.

Nothing happened to her. She's still been a regular on the show. But when she misses a week or two a lot of people lose their minds and stories go around about her leaving the show, having problems with Campea etc. and people go nuts when she 'returns', like she left and come back. When all that actually happened was that she wasn't on due to being busy for a week or so.

Why the hell would you change your name from Rocky Maivia to Dwayne Johnson.. might as well change it to John Smith if you wanna go from cool to totally generic

Rocky Maivia was the Rock's original WWF stage name, after his dad and his grandfather. It later got shortened to just The Rock when his character took a heel turn. His actual name is Dwayne Johnson.

Peter "High Chief" Maivia is Dwayne Johnson's grandfather on his mom's side (technically, I think his mom is from his grandmother's first marriage and Peter Maivia was actually her stepfather, but he raised her and I believe adopted her) and his father is Rocky Johnson (not his birth name, he legally changed it once he started wrestling). So Dwayne took his original stage name in honor of his father and grandfather, who were both famous wrestlers in their day. He didn't start using Dwayne Johnson professionally until he got established in movies.

Nah, nothing's convinced me more than Rebel Moon that Snyder can't write for shit. He should have called Jonathan Nolan and asked him to at least proof read. I guess it's harder to read a script written with crayons.
