Guillermo del Toro would be a SICK choice to direct a monsterverse movie. The Monsterverse is a little too Hollywood for say Peter Jackson, who I think would also make an interesting, "deeper" MV movie, but GDT would be just as interesting to see; especially if they introduced an alien race and a kaiju like Gigan or something similar.

Guillermo del Toro would be amazing but the question is will he want to? Even since The Shape of Water, I think he’s more interested in doing his own projects than going back to another franchise. But then again, never say never.

Kong Skull Island also had the biggest starcast of the monsterverse with Tom Hiddleston, Sam L. Jackason and Brie Larson. Thats what helped in it becoming the highest grossing monsterverse movie.

Well a fairer comparison to Minus One should point out that the latter didn´t release in as many countries as GxK. So they should be compared in the same markets: in the US, GxK made 191.8 million while Minus One made 56.4. And not only without GxK budget but also without any kind of comparable marketing, if we accounted for the latter the overall picture is very different.

I wonder if the reason Godzilla x Kong the New Empire did so well at the box office is because of Godzilla Minus One, a critically acclaimed Godzilla movie coming out four months before another Monsterverse movie I think it made people hungry for more Godzilla movies.

John loves Shang Chi....how much did it make? I sort of resent his back handed accolades for the Kong Man movie. John is like the Forest Gump of movie predictions. Fate or Caprice favors him...sometimes...but he's basically a goober. A "Discerning goober"...but still a goober. Still a fan John!!.. and "company".

2:00 Actually, the only Expendables movie that Dave Callaham wrote was the first one. He had no involvement with the other ones.

I gotta completely disagree with john that they cant write anymore stories in hollow earth, theres way more stuff they can come up with involving hollow earth but i personally want destroyah and gigan. And if im not mistaken ghidorah is still alive right. So i think space can wait until after this next one.

So do I. I went to see Godzilla X Kong with my sister and we had fun. I grinned like a brat watching Kong and Skar King fighting.

Hope to see Gamera in the Monsterverse ( kadokawa wants to do it with toho and legendary because kadokawa did Gamera rebirth with toho so who knows) i would love to have anguirus, gorosurus, king caesar, jet jaguar, rodan ( returning )and have spacegodzilla or biollante or gigan as the main villain of the movie

Hell they mentioned Gidorah is an alien Titan in KOTM

Godzilla 2014 made 530 milion worldwide, compared to Godzilla vs Kong 470 milion worldwide. That's a 60 milion gap. Until Godzilla x Kong it was the second highest grossing movie in the Monsterverse.

I looked around and Kong is at 568 not 470…

NA NA NA I want Jet Jaguar from the monsterverse to come from space and take on kong and godzilla.

They can still do Bioengineering Monsters as an option also like Biolantte or Destroyah both iconic monsters which I think they’ll do before we go the alien route, also we barely scratched the surface with mechs/pacific rim with Mecha Godzilla in GVK

They could bring Destroyah. They've already established the Oxygen Destroyer in King of the Monsters, so pay it off (maybe) with Destroyah.

There's actually a Godzilla x Kong prequel comic that shows off something that is quite literally a Jaeger made from Titan parts.

John knows nothing about the history of Godzilla. There is so much more story they can tell with different monsters. Destroyah and space Godzilla being some.

Writer seems to be able to play in sandbox of concurrent stories. Maybe theyll merge all those juicy human storylines

Space Godzilla

Saying nobody went to watch Minus-One is kinda disingenuous because it had a VERY limited theater release. In my area, the only theater to show it was around 2 hours away, the ONLY theater. It was never going to make $60-80M opening in the US. Godzilla by himself CAN work, it's been proven with Godzilla 2014. Minus one is critically acclaimed and beloved by fans/general audiences. Godzilla (MV) version can work by himself, and can be done similarly to Minus-One. Write a compelling human story, Godzilla would be the driving force to keep the plot moving. I get that the MV has gone silly, but I'd really hate a Pacific Rim crossover.

Hell, if we're going to bring in the Jaegers, might as well throw in Jet Jaguar and let's see if we can borrow Ultraman. If we're going to seek out aliens, are they the ones who'll unleash Gigan, Space Godzilla, and let them build a Mecha King Ghidorah. What about the other earth monsters like Megalon or man-made monsters like Hedorah or Destroyah.

Pacific Rim characters weigh like a tiny fraction as much as the Godzillaverse chatacters. They'd be annihilated.

Im sorry john is being really stupid here with the godzilla minus one not making as much as godzillaxkong Godzilla minus one started as a limited 2 week release while barely having any advertisement. Word of mouth exploded it into lasting longer than it shouldve. It also costed less.

He didn't write Expendables 4, he was credited because of the characters. Expendables 4 I am completely convinced was written by AI and whoever got the credit was paid for organizing the thing to somewhat resemble a plot. There's no evidence but somehow I don’t doubt it? 👀🤷🏻‍♂️....

I also think one advantage that Kong has over Godzilla is that he’s more relatable. He’s a giant ape and considering humans have evolved from apes, it makes him closer to us than Godzilla who is more of a force of nature.
