Replacing the original cast is going to be a tall order. Especially Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini who OWNED their roles as Shaggy and Velma.

While the cast of those movies was spot on, the advantage that Netflix has is that those movies are not super beloved. They’re cult classics at best.

Even though the movies themselves weren’t great, the cast of the 2000’s live action Scooby Doo movies was absolutely perfect. Also, Robbie Amell has already played Fred in two live action tv movies. (Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins and Scooby Doo: Curse of the Lake Monster)

Realistically it will be mostly unknown actors/actresses so people will know them just as these characters

Every time a viewer sends in a “x actor, x role” type of question, you are almost always very dismissive of the question and will always respond “what always matters is what type of story they are making and how they write that actor.” Yet at the same time you’ll do these types of segments. The inconsistency tends to frustrate me and wanted to bring it to your attention. FYI I love these types of videos and keep at it! My sister and I grew up with the direct to video Scooby Doo movies from the early 2000s. We recently rewatched Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. As a kid, I didn’t like it because I was scared of zombies but rewatching it made me appreciate how great it was.

While Sydney Sweeney is not a good choice for Velma, I think her Madame Web co-star Isabela Merced will be perfect. She played Dora the Explorer in live-action so I can see her bring her own voice to Velma and create something new. Plus, she’s only 22 years old so she also has that youthful energy if they plan for the characters to be young adults.

First thing - its gunna be hard to replace any of the original cast they were all perfectly cast, especially matthew lillard as shaggy. Gotta admit, I think some of the choices here, most are too old to play any of the scooby doo gang. Maybe if they went down the path of what happens when the characters are older then yes I can see many of these playing the roles. Timothy chamelet as shaggy though... no. Going from the likes of dune to scooby doo would ruin it for me. As for Jack black playing an older shaggy, take my money, would actually love to see that.

I think Neve Campbell would make a great villian in this series as well.

Ariel Winter as Velma. Would be my pick. Emma Roberts as Daphne. A Taylor Lautner type guy as Fréd. And indeed Pete as Shaggy

Not everything needs to be live action! I mean look at the spider verse movies, X-men 97, Arcane, cyberpunk edgerunners, etc. they should just give us more mystery incorporated.
