Idk about eating but purging definitely.

I do like how the clerks are conspiring to be merchants any time you drop your guard. Very sneaky, but also they know their jobs suck.

I would count this as an absolute win!

Who's going to fire me? There are no Managers or Merchants. I'm imagining what their society would look like; I think it'd be a swarm of small collectively-owned businesses, social media influencers, and a massive gig / contracting economy. Like, everyone mostly just works for themselves or in small groups because trying to organize anything larger than 5-10 people at once requires skills Clerks simply don't have.

The sheer number of clerks will of course bog down the crisis through the sheer hell that is the beurocratic process

Ep3o, "why do I keep fighting so many scourge in this system" The system, has gateway to rest of swarm.

its 99% a W . the 1% is if they actualy clear all other AI empires before you get there , and you lose the imperium status .

Truly an epic battle against the scourge! I definitely would consider it a win, whatever you did to your ships at the end there have the scourge quaking .

I only managed to vassalize an overlord and their vassals once. Didn't think it was possible. It was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

@Brianna Herrington Oh yeah, having Destiny traits for your own heroes is like them telling their own stories, and I can't wait to tell how this inspires mods for both Leader events and new Paragons.

Not only did he fight the crisis using a clerk army, he fought the crisis 100 years in. Reminds me of my first time making it to the crisis with an early spawn on, similarly there was nothing I could do but hold my borders and bide my time. Unfortunately it was the unbidden, by the time the 3rd spawned I knew it was over. All 3 were attacking me and my allies on a regular basis, the 2nd empire spawned inside of one of my allies - they didnt last long. They started focusing heavily on my northern choke point, so I put all my eggs in one basket hoping to destrroy enough to go on a counter offensive, however the 3rd empire took advantage of the opportunity and with out me noticing took a wormhole incredibly close to my southern chokepoint. It was over. By the time I realised what was happening they already a single jump away, I immediately diverted my navy to the south but it was foolish move. My fleets seperated as some had faster leaders than others, and was quickly crushed from rushing in by themselves. Having lost half of my navy I sent them to my last and final holdout point and the only way to get into my central cluster (very good spawn). I always intended it to be a inner wall of my empire if worse ever came to worst, but with half my navy gone and 3 crisis empires slowly creeping ever forward to my capitol it was impossible to turn the tides. The galaxy fell.

my biggest struggle this patch has been what you had in the second half of the video, actually killing ships seems way harder in this update...

against FE - AE yes, since they have so much HP from various buffs , theyr ships escape almost evry engage .

@@matheusGMN i didn't ... what weapons do you use ? brawler weapons are strong , but by theyr nature of low dmg fast attack, increase the chance of ships getting out alive, even more if the ships have multiple escape chance.

The only thing this series miss it that clerk empire should called Vogons Bureaucracy and looks like them :)

This build is even more viable with the new paragons DLC adding in traits that give you effective materials from just having it.

#ClerkLivesMatter Clerk is op af if you're playing mega corp, you get a lot of energy credits and unity early on because they generate a lot of trade values if you're priotizing them

Are the trade valuations during diplomacy/trading for types of things exposed for a mod to just show you what they want? Would just be handy to save time. It's not like it's hard to figure it out, it's just time consuming.

That is a good idea. Exploiting the AI is already pretty overpowered though so maybe that is why it isn't a thing. Obviously keeping UI pain in isn't great game design (Ok I doubt its on purpose but if this idea got brought up it suddenly might become more of a conscious decision) but improving the AI is much harder.

I'm curious how you feel about Megacorps in general in the current state of Stellaris. Outside of RP, do you think they're interesting and different enough to be worth playing a full game as?

They're definitely designed to played tall and without a lot of aggression. Most of your expansion is into establishing Branch Offices and vassalization. Megacorps also get a pretty good vassal replacement with subsidiary (provides some basic resources and will side with you in wars). As shown in this video, it's not hard to be well-liked enough to control a Trade Fed or become Emperor and you'll have a massive energy economy that you can turn into whatever you need. But it's difficult to expand your space because you're often relying on your neighbors to host your Branch Offices. There are ways to play an aggressive megacorp and getting a lot of mercenary enclaves can translate into quite a lot of free money, research, and ships. The downside is that mercs tend to have huge trash fleets that can cause a lot of War Exhaustion even if they win a battle; the upside is that they can self-reinforce and cost less upkeep. Don't use them as your main battle fleet and they'll do fine. And you need to have a more balanced economy (though still trade-heavy) because you won't have enough influence to build Branches. The other downside to aggressive expansion is that your penalties for empire size are +50% greater, so wars to vassalize are often more valuable than wars to conquer.

​@@synthetic240 I haven't played them since... a long time ago. Before they changed the Pop system even, I think. I think the thing I've always had problems with in the past is that they are a bit more map generation RNG than almost any other way to play. If you're the ONLY Megacorp it's fun. If you're not? It's going to be a ROUGH game. Is it as rough now?

Megacorps trivialize the economy. You just build branch offices and open up new markets whenever you run out of space and you will be drowning in credits. I've managed to get individual Branch Offices of mine to over 2k value and I've seen ones with over 6k value. It's crazy. I'm not saying they need a nerf but perhaps they need a bit of a nerf in other areas besides economy

If you have competition as a Megacorp fixing that is as easy as a standard conquest war. Just do a hostile takeover of your competition.

Ah, the best part about playing Pacifist against the Crisis: Sending strongly worded letters to their planets. Seriously, Pacifists should be able to use Indiscriminate Bombardment stance on any empire/faction that can't be incorporated into their empire (Gestalts). What's the point in minimizing casualties when the pops literally die off the moment the planet is conquered?

Gestalts still can have different types of slaves, and if you can't assimilate pops yet, just keep them as slaves until you get your ascention path and then assimilate, easy as that

@@Stforv You can't keep Gestalt pops as slaves as a regular empire mate. The only way you can is if you go Genetic Ascension. Until you do, all those Gestalt pops are worthless.

Ages ago, i think. Doesn't come up much because normally it's your last ascension perk, and at the point getting opinion is really easy/irrelevant.

As a megastructure tech rusher, you skipping the megastructure tech was very painful to watch.

now time for the real question... can you survive with only unemployed pops?

You dont need to close branch offices on other world for war, it just gives them a casus belli for war, which doesnt matter since you would be in one already
