Legend of the dragoons was one of my favorite rpgs. On par with final fantasy. I did not mind the grind the collectable was the most difficult part of the game. It was even possible to not find all the dragoons.

Maker is it possible you can make your master class $100 because I feel that for it's price you could offer more merchandise early access to videos also I feel your audience could appreciate this seeing your content they probably are interested in being KZreadrs and your price is a bit much when they will need a nice camera and PC to start trust me I think if you make it $100 or $125 people will be interested I will be honest if you did this there i would sign up

Haschel IS Dart's grandfather, it's basically confirmed when Haschel hears the lullaby Dart whistles to Shana, which is the same one he whistled to Claire. Also, Dart's mom and Haschel's daughter are both named Claire. It's actually super obvious when you think about it.

Haschel basically tells Dart on disk 4, before he fights Claire on the Moon That Never Sets he says to Dart "she doesn't know you yet", hinting that Claire (as a child) didn't know of her future son.

​​@kaka[Game Terrorist] tons you can do with bows. Double shot, Triple shot, quad shot, penta shot, lob shots, poison, or tipped shots. You can have it so the bow character can also target multiple enemies with each arrow? Seems like a good idea!

This is my second favorite RPG of all time I am so happy its getting so much love! The icing on the cake will be a complete remake

​@@TonyKnight1208 FF7 was the RPG that got me into the genre, but Legend of the Dragoon is one of my favorites of all time. I thought that it would end up being Final Fantasy's most worthy rival, as a series. Truly wish Sony didn't abandon it, just because they released it at a disadvantageous time, which caused the sales not to meet expectations. Really hoping for a remake of this game as well and glad it's getting the respect it rightly deserves.

Love how this game, like Gran Turismo, was graphically designed to be played on a PS2 with the "Smooth" graphics filter turned on. Makes some of those character graphics & battle backgrounds look amazingly different than when played on a PS1.

I think it's more that it was designed for CRT displays, which have an inherent "smoothing" (due to not being made of pixels)

A few corrections. The Jade Dragoon spirit has 3 offensive spells, not just defensive. Out of it's 4 spells, only one of them is defensive. As for Zieg, it's not debated that he was possessed or theorized. The game literally tells and shows us that he was possessed.

I didnt realize this game was getting popular. Maybe we'll get a remaster. Played this like 20 years ago, and would love to see these characters again.

Another interesting fact is that The Legend of Dragon is only one of a handfull of other PS1 titles that cannot run on the PAL version of a PS2, specifically the final boss fight of disc 2 causing the game to crash, making the game even more rare than usual. A physical copy of the game can be bought/sold for £200+ The Legend of Dragoon is available for free on the ps5/ps4 and has just recived its first ever update patch to fix visual bugs and audio glitches.

There is no debate on zieg being controlled by Melba he put himself inside Zelig’s dragoon spirit as they petrified once the spell wore off and zeig activated his dragoon to combat the black monster in neet Melbu was released and possessed Zieg until the God of destruction was born and he used his soul to fuse with the body.

zieg kept talking about things that only winglies of the dragoon campaign knew, such as how the signets work, how the signets could be destroyed, etc. rose only knew them because mostly because she was told by the non-aggressive wingly faction.

We really need a sequel or completely remake. Give LOD the FF7R treatment.

@@soul71000 As long as it doesn't bring the combat changes with it, sure. LOD would be ruined if they got rid of its turn-based additions system rather than just improving it.

My favorite rpg of all time. The addition system was so cool at the time and mastering the timing for all of them was great. Story was pretty badass and the transformations were great.

Absolutely love this game, and have played four copies to inoperable with how many hours I've logged into playing this game across multiple save files.

yeah i got the disk 2 no dragoon glitch and still played it a shitload. this game made me want to draw backdrops and the characters and i suck at it but i could do an ok Dart and Kongol (my favorite characters) and i wrote a whole new game story board for fun when i was young which i havent done for any other game i was just so in love with this game.

"Rose cuts herself" Um... no. She's the Darkness Dragoon. Darkness = Yin (the black half of yin yang). Her magic is all about the darkness of the womb. Two of her spells are pretty explicit: Astral Drain (hint: she's not farting the healing energy kids) and Demon's Gate (yea, droplets of red coming from between her wide open legs and then her laying back pose, opening portal, split in two... not much is left to the imagination there...!)

Thank you for the good work, I did learn a few things! This game be forever be in my heart as my favorite RPG of all time

Still one of my all-time favorites! Remake this Sony! Also, in regards to the 108, it is entirely possible that Shana is the 108th moon child. 108 x 108 is 11,664 years. Since it is repeatedly stated that the end of the Dragon Campaign (and the beginning of the Moon Child) occurred "over 11,000 years ago", Shana is anywhere between the 102nd and the 111th Moon Child

I got this game when I was 6 and 21 years ago and still to this day its still my favorite game of all time and will probly continue to be that way for the rest of my life

Im on a new playthorough now. Im gonna hunt down the optional bosses this time too. 💪

Same, Got mine at Sam's club when i was like 12, I'm 33 now and to this day it is still my favorite rpg of all time next to final fantasy 7.

Thank you Sony for giving this to us and patching it, and thanks to the community for making the effort to get it patched. It really deserves the love, I first played LOD when I was 11 in 2003 but was a game I would often re-vist through the years. What an amazing journey.

Haschel as grandpa is implied elsewhere, too. Like... "my daughter's name is the same as your mom's... hmmm, what are the chances?"

Love this game! This and Legend of Legaia are my favorites.

I remember randomly picking this up when I was a sophomore in high school from a Virgin store on sale. I recall after-school going to work and coming home till 10:30pm and staying up late playing this and realizing how good of a game it truly was. I'm glad I grew up playing this hidden gem.

Great memories indeed, my friend. Great memories. There was no youtube to look at reviews, so you literally had to judge a book by its cover. Sometimes you got cucked, other times you landed on godly gems like this game.

I'm so glad this game is seeing a revival. I remember getting it in a demo cd from pizzahut backwhen they did that. Had this, a level from THPS1 and two other demos on it. Instantly fell in love with the game playing the demo over and over til i bought it. Still have both the demo cd and the ps1 4 disc copy too (or was it 3 discs? that was a long time ago lol) This game is dripping with nostalgia for me. If they announced a remake I would lose it

It will forever be one of my all time favorites. The addition system was so much more engaging, unless you're trying to master gust of wind dance and have a full mental breakdown at 12 years old looool.

The Legend of Dragoon is just one of those games that had the misfortune of being overshadowed by the titanic release of the PS2. It definitely deserves a remake though, doesn't have to be a high-budget one maybe an anime-type look, like Tales or Trials of Mana.

Good timing, playing on the PS5 and enjoying quite a lot.

I almost can’t believe this. I remember I found this game laying on its side at a K-Mart. I must’ve been 10 years old or so. I adore this game so much. I had the free time to Max out each character and spend over 500 hours playing this game. It was buggy, and had to buy several copies before I could even finish it. But it has stayed with me for this long. I hope everyone is able to enjoy this game, even though it’s been 20+ years later. Thanks Sony! I think I will buy a PS5 now.

They need to just make a remake. This was my FF7. I've signed so many petitions over the years. We want a remake and a prequel. They keep re-releasing this game, so they gotta be up to something. Hoax village theme is one of my favorite memorable tracks from the game

Seeing that Dart Feld was almost in PlayStation All-Stars still hurts me. Of ALL the characters to end up being cut, it had to be him. In fact, I think that game needed far more characters from the PS1 era. 😭😭

I loved this game back in the day.

The hidden evil wingly Faust,can be found and fought in the floating fort flanvel. He is the most powerful boss via magic.

If you find all stardust, you will save Martel's child. If you do not, the child will dye.

Went over to sleepover at my buddies house around 13, him and his brother were playing this game on last boss they could not beat. They asked me to give it a shot and i managed to beat it 1st try, they were surprised and excited! In those days i played all games on hardest difficulty. Not anymore lol. After that i burrowed it from them, stayed up like 3.5 days to beat it and the last day ending with me back at there house for another sleepover and last thing i remember was sitting on a bean bag with the window open. A breeze came in and i flew out the window hallucinating from lack of sleep.

I love LoD's battle system. I have yet to find any other battle system to be as entertaining.

The music in this game reminds me of Naruto. The moon at the end, the divine tree, zieg/madara being the main villain until Melbu/Kaguya are revealed. 🤌

I beat this game maybe 25 times my entire lifetime. The only game I beat that many times. I even found all 50 stardust and beat Magician Faust.

Ok LOD universe, our time is coming for the remaster….lets keep up the good work.👏🏾, it’s been a long time coming, we’re almost here. 🙌🏾 I play this game every leap year. The stories closeness to humanities original cosmogony is soo captivating……GUST OF WIND DANCE!!!

I played the game until 2007 and got as far as the 3th disc desert, that was my last game before leaving videogames altogether for many years. I retook the game in 2022 and finished it. Yes it's a masterpiece, but still has it's flaws. Back tracking is excessive, sometimes the engine doesn't handle well more than four players on screen, the status ailments animations aren't superposed (If you are poisoned and then you are stoned the first condition animation disappears) grinding is cumbersome: XP gain is halved for non-active party members... and a bug that raises the encounter rate when you run up right was left in the retail version. it also has censorship on Rose's Demon Gate animation in the US version. Also, the main common monsters aren't that interesting, it also lacks more side quests, in my opinion. It's shine lies on the story and the incredible FMV's: A great game nonetheless-

There is no way that Haschel isn't Darts Grandfather, I'm pretty sure its "Cannon" at this point.

About broken save files: as a child, my first disk eventually became corrupted and would not boot. When trying to load it, I found that you can first turn on disk 4, when you try to start the game you get the message PLEASE INSERT DISC 1, then insert the first disk and when the message “PLEASE WAIT” hangs, insert disk 4 again. After that, Disc 4 loaded successfully, lol, and I appeared as lvl 1 Dart at the Moon location in front of Super Virage at the very end of Disc 4. When I tried to go to the previous screen of the location I received the message PLEASE INSERT DISC 1 and there was no way around this, but on the next location screen, a battle began with Super Virage, which took 9999 HP (out of 30) in 1 hit :), but Dart dealt him only 1 HP damage. I couldn't reproduce this on a PC with an emulator using an ISOs, it might have worked using a CD-ROM, but I haven't tried it

A ff7 remake game should be fine for legend of Dragoon and it would be amazing. I don't think we will ever get any more love for this franchise but if it ever gets more love I hope it gets the hype the cult following wants.

I played legend of the dragoon when i was a kid I rented it from a local video store and all i can say it was fun as all hell

What can I play this on and is it exactly like the original version?

But, why now??? I played this on PS1 when it first came out and it was an incredible experience. It just trips me out that people are barely catching onto this title. Divine Cannon!!!

so a thing that i thought was interesting to point out is how only 1 jade dragoon spell is defensive the other 3 spells are all attacks, so although i agree the jade dragon might prefer protectors. it clearly isnt only a defensive caster. most of its spells are offensive.

Why are there two pronunciations for Lavitz in the video ? One LAHvitz, one LuhVEEtz ?

Obligatory Severed Chains plug (the mod/emulation in that fan project is so incredible) Haschal IS Dartz grand father this is confirmed towards the end of the game in every way other than outright saying it. Zieg was controlled by Melbu Frama from the moment he tried to confront the black monster, Melbu Frama bound his soul to the dragoon spirit and basically laid dormant until Zieg activated the dragoon spirit to fight the Black monster, Unfortunately this does have some implications as people have Theories on whether Claire died at the hands of rose running to protect the weak or if Melbu Frama's possession may have taken place and Zieg under Melbu's influence would have possibly been the killer of Claire. Rose's powers are references to the darkness of the womb, as a kind of inverted idea of life, Lavitz' callback moment is great but you missed a small detail, the background is the window seeing the sight of "Lavitz' treasure" A beautiful view over the city looking towards Indels castle and over the rooftops of Bale. The place where Lavitz grew up dreaming of being a knight and protecting his country. A very minor details but I think it's sweet that essentially think, Dart went back to Lavitz' house gave his respect to his mother and spent some time on that roof the place where Lavitz' and him last spoke. Rose and Zieg shown at the end are pretty explicit as well rose(a purple striped seagull) checks on how all the Dragoons are going before returning to a red striped seagull. This alone basically confirms it as they both die talking about how they weren't meant to be alive, and that it's their generations time to live, but when you consider the two missing dragoon stones (Red eyed dragoon and the black burst dragoon stones) are shown as the final shot after with the "the end screen"

I love this game. I sought out the Japanese version for it's difficulty. I enjoyed both.

Even when this game came out, I remember it being kinda buggy and a little convoluted (ie. fury of Styx vs ferry of Styx). But I can’t deny the many fond memories of the battle system and dragoon transformations. If this game got a proper remake and fixed up some of the issues, I’d actually be very interested

Rose only k×lled one actual person during the war. Shana's twin sister. Every other person was either the winglies,virage,the moon child and/or possessed civilians who guarded the moon child.

There are two games that deserve a remake 100% and that is The Legend of the Dragoon and the Xeno Saga Trilogy.

A good game, especially for the time. Understand though, it can be incredibly frustrating at times, but if you keep at it you’ll finish it. Story is good, action is good, it is definitely a Sony classic you should play. I’ll echo everyone else here, and add my vote for an update/complete remaster, much like they did for Final Fantasy.

I never knew about this game until I saw it on ps premium thanks Sony. I think we should of got a proper remaster with character models and environments cleaned up and item limit should of been changed to 99 for all.

A true remake of this game, with modern combat and the option to toggle back to turn based would be amazing. Just like FF7 remake combat. Bluepoint please! Legend of Dragoon is so underrated, the story is top notch, even the old combat is still enjoyable and makes level grinding more interactive.

How is Haschel being dart's grandpa just a theory ? *spoilers* At the start of Chapter 2 Hashel notices that the bridge name is the same as his lost daugher. Dart finds it funny because it's the same name as his mother. Albert proceeds to talk too much about statistics regarding the name "Claire". At the start of Chapter 3. Haschel hears the lullaby sung by Shana, which reminds him of Claire. She tells Haschel that Dart sang this song to her, which he learned from his mom. On the moon, Haschel effectively says that "this person doesn't know you yet" then fights Claire. Right before fighting Melbu Frahma, Haschel asks Dart : "Haven't you noticed that you look exactly like me when I was young ?" In all cutscenes, Claire is dressed in Violet just like Haschel. It was said implicitely and only Haschel knows.
