    First week of the BDT, did the 20 6-counts earlier this week, but my never-used muscles complained and I couldn't do a pushup without pain for a second session until four days later. Did the 10 Navy Seals today. I did them but I bet I will be sore tomorrow. I hope to stick with the 20 6-count and 10 Navy Seals until I can get to four sessions per week without major muscle pain, and then start building up. I'm 63 and have done a lot of cycling over the last 12 years, with a resting HR of 43, but I don't have any core strength and I'm sure this program will help build core strength. Thank you Max for putting this program together and creating the motivational videos!

    For everyone starting this journey - it really works! Consistency is the key. Just keep showing up for your 20 minutes 4 times a week, watch as many videos as possible for the explanations, and follow alongs and you will get it! I started with 30 Navy seals on February 9, and in one month, I reached level 1 D with 60. It's challenging but possible! Cheers!

    A video like this speaks volumes to your dedication to practitioners at all levels! It’s great to listen to your thought process and advice between reps, all of which is just as valuable to 1A folks as it is to people in the levels above. I’m sharing your program today with some of my close friends and they are excited to start their journey. Keep up the hard work! Hope the injury is getting better!

    I'm starting this week. 20 6-counts two days ago. 10 NS today. May have been able to do more but want to make sure I have good form and build core strength so I'm starting and ramping up slowly. I'm 54, haven't had a regular exercise program for a while, and have put on about 10lbs in the past year. Currently 210lbs. I'm excited about the program and love the energy here!

    Found this channel a few weeks ago out of town on a business trip in a hotel that was lacking a gym. I have stuck with 80 minutes a week so far and currently banging out level 1C. As a new father trying to balance my schedule to optimize time with my kids, this has been great. Side note, adding the toe touches to my reps has my hamstrings screaming. Keep up the good work.

    Great dedication to the channel and a great inspiration for others! Is it fair to say though that the Navy Seals exercise is extremely push up heavy and therefore for someone who is not that proficient at push ups, or even average at push ups, the cardio effect is minimal. It's an exercise more in local muscular endurance until you get so good at push ups that you can do at least a couple of hundred in 20 minutes. If someone is at a "push ups fitness level" of 30 in 20 minutes, they might as well have also performed jumping jacks and air squats to get a workout benefit. Even if someone could perform 150 push ups with 50 Navy Seals in 20 minutes, which is still a LOT of push ups by population standards, it's not really very cardio and even less leg heavy which is really a more important muscle group to work. So I guess the point is that in these early stages, people need to gain much more specific local muscular strength before jumping into this program, especially if they only have 20 minutes spare, 4 times a week to get a "workout" in. Please only take this as constructive criticism🙏 but it does appear that if someone can't do at least 150 push ups in 20 minutes, the program doesn't work in the early stages. After that point it's a great and very very convenient way to train👍

  • @busydadtraining

    @busydadtraining

    Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, my friend. The tone of your comment makes it impossible to take offense or mistake your intentions. I'm always grateful for questions and criticisms in a constructive spirit. Here are my thoughts. You are dead right that 10 seals -- even, say, 40 seals -- in 20 minutes will not give you much of a leg workout or cardio payoff. True. That begins to change as you can add more volume, but in the early stages of the program, you're dead right. However, what those sessions are doing, which is invaluable down the line, is habituating your body to the movement your mind to the 20 minute timeframe. Meanwhile, don't forget that you're training 6-cts twice a week. With that movement (where the push up:burpee ratio is 1:1 instead of 3:1), you will be getting a meaningful cardio workout pretty much immediately -- certainly by the time you unlock 1B, if not sooner. So if all the program offered for leg and cardio training was seals, I think your observation would really force me to rethink, but given that 6-cts have an equally prominent place, I am very happy recommending my training protocol to absolute beginners. IF those beginners also wanted to use the grease the groove method to work on their push ups on a remedial basis, that is also something I would get behind.

    @@busydadtraining Thanks for the reply! Sorry, just seen this... Yes, the six counts are better, absolutely. For me though, I do still think the workouts are disproportionately heavy on press ups. I think the Navy Seals would be better introduced at a later stage and all 4 sessions per week were 6 counts to begin with. Navy Seals early on feel difficult from the strength/press ups side. but very low legs and cardio benefit. Nothing is perfect of course and this is not to disregard the benefits in the later stages. I just think that especially when people may be overweight to start, 6 counts would be better.

    May God bless you for this awesome workout. I am 44 years old, 6 ft and weigh 115KGs. I started this workout yesterday. On day one I was able to do 20 6 counts of the follow along workout . And on day two, I was able to do 10 Navy seals in this video. Felt Mild Exertion and very little out of breath, minor soreness in elbows and left knee. Can you please suggest how many reps a day should I increase? Thanks in advance.

    It looks like the Navy Seals work the same muscles and more than the 6 counts so why not do them every time vs the 6 counts? Is it that you can get more 6 count reps in? What should be the mix in work outs, should I be switching between navys and 6 counts every other time? Thanks for the videos!

  • @randolphpinkle4482

    @randolphpinkle4482

    6 counts involve more leg work and far fewer pushups over time. For 100 6 counts, that's 100 pushups and 200 jumps (back and forth). For 100 NS, that's 300 pushups and 200 jumps (back and forth). Plus 100 mountain climbers. Thus, 6 counts for more cardio and NS for more upper-body/core muscular work.

  • @busydadtraining
