Oh man! Occular migraines are the worst. So glad you're okay! You did great on your own today, friend. And here's another reminder to treat yourself to another mini muffin tin.❤
My husband is going on deployment, and currently, he is gone for a month for annual training. He comes home for 10 days, and then he is gone for 15 months. We do not have children, so I have no one to "cook" for, and I am not good at cooking just for two when he is home. I want to eat well and stay healthy while he is gone, but after taking care of the animals and the garden and working 8-10 hours, I find myself just eating cheese, apples, and crackers every night. Thank you for helping me get out of this rut! Honestly, this was the last thing I thought about...food for me, LOL
Isn't it funny how hard it is to just cook for yourself! It sounds like you have your hands full while your husband is gone. I'm glad we could inspire you to take care of yourself when it's just you! ♥️
Working at counter height when you're tall is super hard on the back! I'm 5'10" myself and disabled so I do all my prep sitting down at my dining table!
Yes! I (Christie) am 5'8" and prefer to stand at the kitchen counter. I am too tall to comfortably work at my kitchen table for a long time, but if I sit, I find my arms get sort of sore, so I end up using my tall kitchen stool and it helps a bit if I need a perch for awhile. Sharla is 5 feet even, I think. She just grins and bears it. She's tough!
My chopper is my favourite tool!
Such a great tool hey??
I always peel mushrooms before I cook them, my partner keeps telling me there’s no need to. I hate mushrooms and I only make them for him, it would be a lot easier if I didn’t peel them but I just can’t do it 😂😂
I recently saw a facebook post where someone asked if they rinsed their mushrooms. It was mostly 50/50 if they did or didn't, but there was a small collection of us that agreed that peeling was the way to go. I also have to peel them! Luckily, I love them, so it's not as much of a sacrifice. haha You're a good person to do that for your partner!
Love you both and your brains! :)
Back atcha!
There’s a book! “Eat that Frog”
That's right! I think I remember hearing about it from a few years back. I had a VP that sent out a Friday email and that was one of the things he mentioned. He had just read it and gave us some highlights.
🥰🥰
My grandparents used to make scrambled eggs in a crockpot for big groups if i remember correctly they just wisked them ll up threw them in the slow cooker and sturred them every so often. I'm sure there are instructios online by now.
Oh! I bet it works really well! Until it comes time to clean the crockpot... I would definitely use a crockpot liner for that!
Where’s instructions for cooking recipes? Thank You!!
Hi Irene, you can find some of the recipes in the video description.
Too much unnecessary talk
If you're looking for a KZread channel that is only recipes with no chatting and laughter, there are many other channels you can find to enjoy. This channel is not that. We invite you into my kitchen for chatting, positivity, encouragement, tips for saving time and money, and we share some recipes along the way.
@@FreezerMeals101 wow 😮 Ok it was my first time watching This channel 😞
No! They are adorable! I watch/listen while I’m pottering
You both are awesom and funny
Aw, thanks!
I just found you two recently and really enjoy your videos. I am a 76 yr old widower and have made a pot of chili and ate on it for a week. Your recipes on freezer meals have helped me. Thank you.
I'm so pleased to hear that! My dad often made beef stew and froze individual portions to eat. I hope we can encourage you to make a few other items so you can have some variety, but you're doing great! Thanks so much for watching.
My heart died a little when you threw the chicken bones into the garbage can. I set those aside, cool, and then pick out the good chicken to add to my soup. And girl, you left way too much meat on the bones.
While it's probably best to make the chicken stock and pick them absolutely clean, that is sometimes a lot more work than someone can muster. We've definitely done it in past videos but it's also ok to do as much as you can do and not feel guilty about the bones in the garbage once in a while. We try our best to show real life. Sometimes we make the chicken stock and sometimes we don't. Both ways are ok. There is room for every kind of home cook on our channel. Sorry your heart died a little but I'm sure you understand.
Is your hand okay? Great recipes by the way
Yes, thank you!
THIS IS HOW I WOULD EAT A HOT DOGS I seriously dislike a bun I brake both ends to reduce the soggy part anyway you just made an Italian proud 😊 Pizza dough makes me happy 🎉
☺️
would love to see a video of app's..
We have enough appetizer videos we could probably make our own playlist of them. In the meantime, here are a few: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d22btdGAmcSen8o.htmlsi=gwSugRaQ2NNoZuBo kzread.info/dash/bejne/poKArbd-p9LZZNY.htmlsi=ASwTbxw8x9SSS5My kzread.info/dash/bejne/fIJ2y7StgMqtorA.htmlsi=huPKFvL3iMWun1mG kzread.info/dash/bejne/oG2buZKLZMXTgLg.htmlsi=YAZkmlIcxCNZaFCv kzread.info/dash/bejne/pX-ay8-CpqXOY9I.htmlsi=m6TTn_b619AJ5jRj
Fantastic idea ❤
Thanks!
Have you guys ever thought about using a veggie chopper?? It would be so much easier for you..
Yes! We have one! www.amazon.com/dp/B09BQ9CPVR?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzthechaan-20&creativeASIN=B09BQ9CPVR&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.WW6HCZABBMZI&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin We use it for bigger jobs. It's a lot of work to wash the little blades of the chopper for only one or two onions. Onion seems to stick so badly. So sometimes it's just easier to use a knife for small jobs.
Do you have a recipe for the lemon blintzes that you mentioned you might make?
Not yet, sorry. We haven't forgotten about it, but we just never got to making them yet. Hopefully soon! They sound so good!
@@FreezerMeals101 okay Thanks.
The movie sounds fun.
It was great fun!
Pea salad
Good idea!
41:21 1- Sharla! My heart is broken with you putting back garlic. (Just kidding) 2- Christie I think your husband is a vampire slayer. Or he’s pregnant. But more likely a slayer
🤣🤣 I'd say slayer. He was always a Buffy fan!
4:11 I am one of those people. I want a whole tour of her kitchen, cabinets, drawers, fridge, and freezers. But knowing what mine look like with only 4 people (who actually live here) I would assume not everything is as “neat” as the counters in the videos with all the kids! But still!!
It's surprisingly in good shape (Christie here) for as many people that live there! The pantry area can get unruly sometimes, but the cupboards themselves are fairly orderly. lol
Can I use traditional sandwich bags to freeze in 1 cup portions?
I have but then put them in a larger proper freezer bag. The sandwich bags just don't have enough protection.
Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 from Nova Scotia. I chuckled at your freezer story. It’s just me and my husband and I have two freezers + the fridge freezer and another small freezer in the garage. 🤣
There is something about the security of having the extra freezer space! Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
I had occular migraines when I worked at Walmart in their deli, and I thought boy, this is freaky and almost asked to go home. I thought the smoke from the fryer may have caused them. I haven't had one since I stopped working there.
Yep, they are pretty scary!
I am so glad the scary symptoms were not as serious as anticipated. I never heard of an ocular migraine, but you have probably helped quite a few of us should we experience one. But, I have a question - in the US we don’t use real maple syrup for a lot of things, but definitely on top of waffles and pancakes. You use maple syrup in cooking, but not on your waffles and pancakes? I am seriously puzzled 🤔.
It's common here to have it on pancakes and waffles as well. Sometimes berries and whipped cream hit the spot better! lol
Very confusing to follow
It was a bit of a departure from our usual style of video but an important one. What was it that was hard to follow?
We had the Chicken jalapeño bacon pasta last night for supper. A family favorite. YUMMMM! My husband doesn’t even like ranch dressing and he says I must make it again. We have found so many recipes we love and make over and over.
Woohoo!!
What fantastic tips you both gave us on planning and doing our own freezer meal days! Yes dismiss any people who may have unfavorable opinions about anything y’all have done about what y’all do because I’ve watched y’all for a long time . As a long time viewer of your channel y’all have Blessed us with great freezer meals to keep our sanity on those ,”I just can’t cook today (for whatever reason!) days “. So y’all are a Blessing to all of us and y’all are just so sweet and fun and truthful about any mistakes you make or if you accidentally mess up you say ,”do as I say not as I do and let us know about it “.. so I appreciate that y’all are human and like the rest of us you just have a laugh and move on! Y’all just continue being y’all and we’ll be here continuing to watch y’all and enjoying your channel! Blessings 💕
Thanks so much! We are the type of people that just have to be ourselves! Thanks for being a faithful viewer!
This is how I reduce the items in my pantry and freezer. Make freezer meals. I swap chorizo for Italian sausage always. We love the flavor of chorizo.
So good, right?
My favorite type of video thanks
Teatra pak isn't German it's Swedish or well now it's Swiss, but it was founded in Sweden. Erik Wallenberg was the original creator of tetra classic Wallenberg is a really wealthy family in Sweden and Ruben Rausing and Holger Crafoord were the founders of tetra company also two other really wealthy families in Sweden
Ah! Another viewer told us it was German. I've never actually looked it up for myself.
@@FreezerMeals101 If you ever had a Wallenbergare (a kind of beef paddy made from minced veal) its actually named from another member of the Wallenberg family. Another super famous person was Raoul Wallenberg he was probably killed after being captured during world war 2. But before that he saved a lot of children from concentration camps. So yeah the Wallenberg family is one of the most famous and riches family in Sweden because of teatra pak and other things. :P
Girly pop in the apron is adorable all around personality and all 😊
l am with you on the pantry, l have a fully stocked pantry, if something is on sale, you no l am going to get it by the case, l always have 4 cases of Campbell's soups, tomato, chicken noodle, veg, and mushroom. Stocks, canned veggies, canned fruit mostly pineapple, pastas, canned tomatoes, jarred sauces, Beans, PB, mays, coffee's, my canned goods too, etc.. and then there's my dehydrated stuff, 2 stand up freezers. I remember when my kids moved out, they would so to mom's grocery store. lol.. l have a spare bedroom as my pantry. Nothing wrong with having a good pantry, exspecially when winter comes and you don't want to go out for anything, The only things l really have to go out for is Milk, eggs, fresh fruit/veg. Plus make my own bread .
Here here! For a stocked pantry!
We call them tetra packs, from BC and Alberta. The recycling depot also calls them tetra packs. You are not alone, Ladies.
Yeah!
Love this wingin' it style of cooking. Very real life!
Marina, I don't mean to correct you, but did you mean carrara marble when you said caraboo
Oh probably!
Ok so San Marzano tomatoes are a variety of Roma/ plum tomatoes they pretty magical for making sauce. The "fancy" kind is DOP (official product of Italy) and they are grown in volcanic soil which makes a whole world of difference! I grow San Marzanos and while they're pretty great, they aren't a patch on the ones grown in volcanic soil.
Thank you! I knew someone would know!
Love your recipes and appreciate your process. But, I am allergic to all onions- cooked, raw, onion soup mix, dried, etc. Don’t like peppers of any color (especially green) so just leave these ingredients out.
Yep just leave them out. Sharla is allergic to celery and it's probably in almost as much stuff as onion! It makes it hard to eat in a restaurant but at least you can tailor things to your own needs when making freezer meals
My favourite things to make with canned tuna are tuna spaghetti (with tomatoes garlic olives and capers) and tuna pizzas ( with onions, olives and peppers). All shelf stable pantry ingredients except for onions garlic and peppers…( I forgot about the cheese for the pizza ! Not from the pantry!)
Super interesting! And yes, very pantry-friendly!
Great video! The painting behind you is so beautiful.
Thank you. My mom painted it and I love it too so I moved it there temporarily so I could show it to you all. I’ll pass your compliment along to her.
Beautiful ❤😂
San Marzano tomatoes have less juice and seeds which is what makes them better for making sauces and pastes.. I have had a pre-cancerous growth removed from my breast just before CV and I was supposed ro get on-going treatment with an oncologist which could not happen due to the world shutting down.
Yikes that's scary! And crummy timing. Glad you're doing all right now 💖
@@FreezerMeals101 i hope so, havent been back honestly. i just keep pushing on-you ladies are super hdelpful at helping me do that!
RHPS is an absolute blast. It shows at a local theater around Halloween in my town. I love the audience participation parts. Hope you have a blast with the girls! 👄
It was crazy fun. They had no idea what we were getting into!! 💋💋💋
San Marzano tomatoes are just a variety of paste tomatoes, like Roma or Amish paste. They're a popular variety for canning and sauce making.
Thanks!
Christie- I was born in the 60’s and am familiar the with audience involved Rocky Horror Picture Show. Have So Much Fun! Throwing toast!! 🍞
It was so fun! We had a total blast!
lol- I shop my freezers, fridges, numerous pantry buckets, storage bins, home-canned items to do this regularly. I keep an intensive inventory of all food items right down to spices so for me, this is a snap.
Awesome! You sound super organized!
same
My husband also eats onions like apples. And when ordering a burger out, he asks for extra EXTRA onions 👀
😬 lol
