    I literally gave a whoop of excitement when I saw a new video from you. 😂 I rarely make freezer meals (time saving isn't much of an issue in my household) but I simply adore watching your content.

    I was thinking this was common sense but if the cooks are younger, I see where it might be a problem. As you add years to your cooking, you figure out what works, you get a feel for it too. Nice that you made a special video for people.

    It's totally true! Sharla learned how to cook from a set of cook books called Cooking for the Rushed. I learned from my mom, but there is still so much that we don't know! And if we take it to the base level, even seasoned cooks find something to glean. I think it's good to go back to the basics once in a while. :)

    For sure. And there are always things to glean, even if you know a lot about cooking. I'm still learning all the time! I love it!

    Well done Ladies! (Why is everything a cooking Pun?) I think you were both right on point with your solutions to said issues! It's funny to me when people say they don't like FMs, mostly because I think it's life changing! I can't say enough good things about it! But learning anything new- you gotta try again. You two have already taken the dirty work out of making FMs. "Trust your Native Guide." (Something a wise friend once said to me.) Peace and Love, Ladies.

    Instead of having the expense of the freezer bags all the time, how about using things like Pyrex containers or glass containers that are freezable that you can thaw in the fridge raider and then put into the oven? How do you keep the air from ruining the freezer meal if it’s in a meal container? I don’t like Ziploc bags. I’ve had a lot of issues with them and they don’t seem to freeze for the three up to six months. In fact if I get 30 days I’m happy lol but I would really like to move onto Freezable containers that I can either thaw in the fridge and put them in my oven the day after or if I can get them something like Rubbermaid containers or any freezer safe container can you talk a little bit more about using those instead of of bags! Ziploc bags get expensive overtime Whereas freezer containers, you can reuse over and over again

    We like the bags because when we make over 100 meals at a time, they can actually fit in our freezer! We never have a problem with freezer burn if we are using our meals up within three to six months. I'm sorry you've had a bad track record with the bags. Of course you can use other freezer-friendly containers! We still put a liner of plastic wrap right down on the food to give it that extra layer of protection before adding foil for the top (or the lid if we have one). It seems to help to keep the frost down. Just remember to remove the plastic before throwing it in the oven. Many people only use reusable containers and it totally works for them. Others like to freeze their meals in a container, then pop it out and use a vacuum sealer to really get that extra air out before returning it to the freezer and they probably have the best luck with beating freezer burn. I hope you find your groove!

    I think people who say freezer meals taste the same, have probably only eaten frozen meals from the supermarket. Most the shop bought ones I have tried, the meat was covered in a salty gravy and the vegetables were almostly tasteless. I couldn;t distinguish the meat past the gravy. I am pleased Ii now make my own.

    is it ok to freeze things like onions when they are bought and then use the frozen onions when making the recipes to freeze?

  • @FreezerMeals101

    @FreezerMeals101

    Yes but it will change the texture. Some people don’t mind that so they do freeze onions after dicing them.

    Oh shoot. How long did you cook it? If they are very thin they should cook up fairly quickly in a skillet like they would if they were in a stir fry. Perhaps they were a bit too thick? The other option is to cook it in the oven for an hour, in a casserole dish with a lid. My suggestion is to try get them even thinner - they really need to just be tender crisp - like cooked but still with a bit of crunch. With some trial and error, I think you'll find your groove. If all else fails, par boil them before slicing them so they require minimal cooking time. I hope that helps!

    @FreezerMeals101 I just can't stand when my veggies aren't cooked. It's a texture thing with me so will maybe try and parboil them. I'm sure that would work. I will try and let you know what happens. 😊
