On Friday one of my closest friends and nieghbours told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. On Saturday I sent my son to the shops with a list, and my dil and I spent all afternoon making freezer meals. My friend is allergic to onions, so everything had to be from scratch, no pre made sauces or spice mixes! We replaced onion powder with ground up dry chives, and replaced onion with leek. Taco seasoning and Italian seasoning had to be from scratch! We ended up making only six, but I'll do another six on the weekend. She and her partner were so grateful when my son dropped then off. She was amazed when we explained how we cut onion out of everything.

@FreezerMeals101 she's been my friend a lot longer than she's been my neighbour, half the reason we chose this house was because she lived so close. We used a couple of your recipes, the spaghetti sauce and the chicken fried rice.

Thanks for the baby story. It brought out tears. I use couponing apps, store loyalty program, and shop BOGOs. I have taught my husband about couponing. Now he asks if certain things are on sale or if there are coupons for them. 😂 With Freezer Meal 101 club I don’t have to worry if I buy a ridiculous amount of a certain protein at a great savings because I know I can find a variety of recipes in which to make use of the purchase. The available VARIETY of recipes makes it all Work together and saves me a lot of work!

My money saving ways: 1- Walmart+. Yes I had to pay money for a subscription but then I don’t see all the things we don’t need. I’ve saved more money than i spent on the membership. 2- don’t bring anyone with you. (This weekend I spent twice as much as I normally do because my husband came with) 3- flipp and Fetch apps 4- Freezer meals 101 club Also: you climbing on the counter. So me. I now use tongs or any other long utensil I can grab ahold of. And the story of your SURPRISE baby girl!! Crying!!!

Christie here - I absolutely spend more money when my kids come. I'm a softy when it comes to them asking for cookies or something. I never think to buy it when I'm on my own. Hello from France. I tested some asian recipes, a delight... shrimps and asian beef, as I had some opened bottles of soya, orange juice, garlic etc... I prepared in advance some portion of marinade put in the freezer for future meals. thank you for your recipes and your good mood.

Tough job but rewarding!

I never even knew you could buy spices in bulk and refill your spice jars. These are the type of hints I love. My only question is won't the remaining spice go bad after a short while? I also never knew about stores labeling a product one price but each package can be a different weight. Keep these videos coming!

Spices don't last very long unfortunately. We manage to go through them fairly quickly by cooking this way, but here's another tip... you can freeze your spices! They won't last indefinitely, but they'll last way longer in the freezer than they would on your shelf. The other nice thing about buying in bulk is that you might only need a few teaspoonfuls of a particular spice for a recipe. You can buy literally a few teaspoonfuls! Then there is nothing to waste. Some places like Bulk Barn here in Canada will allow you to use containers from home to buy your spices - or whatever bulk item they're selling. I think they even have a discount on Sundays for bringing your own container. You weigh the empty container on the way in, and on the way out, they weigh it again and only charge you the difference. Pretty cool, eh?
