    the premise is simple, but it gives me ideas for whats possible by varying the rice and soup, and such. by the way, in english shin-jaga is... new potatoes! isnt it interesting how they're called the same in both languages?

    Its nice you use all the dipping ingredients, usually there is about a pound of crumbs and flour to throw out.

    All those dishes are scrumptious. I was most interested in the tofu edamame patties. We're Catholic Christians and we don't eat meat on Fridays. A lot of times I run out of ideas on Friday suppers. The tofu pattie looks awesome. Did you use silken tofu in it?

    How can I make sure the meat/chicken is cooked thoroughly when deep frying?

  • @JapaneseCookingChannel
    @JapaneseCookingChannel5 күн бұрын

    If the batter turns a deep golden brown, it is cooked through. If you are concerned, let the food sit for 10 minutes after frying and before slicing to allow the residual heat to cook through.

    The first dish is so interesting! Here in the southern US, we make an "egg salad" that is essentially your tartar sauce, but without the sugar and ketchup. If you add canned tuna, it becomes tuna salad. (We usually use it to make sandwiches.) I never would have thought to put it on sweet/sour chicken! I will have to try it. :)

    These are easy recipes to make, with most ingredients on hand or easy to acquire. I’m growing shiso, mizuna, and dwarf mustard plants in my garden this year, so I’m hoping they’ll do well. I started some burdock as well, but it didn’t like the temperature or amount of rain we’ve had this spring.
