What if my ex was just sending breadcrumb messages “checking in”? He broke up with me over a year and a half ago. I entertained his breadcrumbs for over a year. I did ask him to meet with me in person and he would give me excuses (not say no he would say yes but too busy right now) So I finally asked him not to contact me anymore unless its important. He said ok. A month went by and he was silent (I thought he must get it finally) but then he started with breadcrumbs again. (I know they are breadcrumbs because he isn’t asking to see me or saying he is sorry/ or that he has thought about anything etc. I know if I reply to those he would think we could be cool to just be superficial friends and breadcrumb message friends again) Its my fault too I know because I let him get away with it for so long thinking that he would eventually want to see me in person and we could reconnect. He never really had to “feel the loss” because I was never really gone for a year and a half after he dumped me I kept responding to his breadcrumb check in messages. So when he started messaging me again with breadcrumbs I ignored him. For 2 months I mostly ignored his breadcrumbs but again I messed up. I sent him a birthday message in the middle of ignoring him and I did reply to one of his breadcrumb questions. This was a mistake I realized because it made him think there was no problem. He didn’t actually seem to realize I was ignoring him about a month ago. When he realized it he sent me a message directly to my iphone messages (we used to message in an app instead of direct messages) He asked if I was still using the app. He didn’t even think it was possible I could be ignoring him. Then when I didn’t reply to that he stopped messaging me. Its been a month now. Was it wrong of me to ignore him because I do want him back? But I only want him back if he is going to REALLY WANT ME BACK too and value me and apologize and I will know he is has changed and reflected on things and truly misses me. The fact he just stopped messaging me completely when I didn’t reply tells me that he was clearly just wanting to check in as usual and he didn’t really want to talk to me or see me. No effort was made by him for me. So yes I am sad that he isn’t still sending breadcrumbs at least, but its for the best if he doesn’t really love me and want me in his life. I can’t be superficial friends with him

I stopped counting the days but it's been over a month. She blocked me everywhere and ghosted me after an argument, never even said we were breaking up. I spent a week wondering if I even had a girlfriend until I downloaded dating apps and saw her profile pop up claiming she was "looking for something serious". I don't plan on ever taking my ex back after the way she discarded me (she ghosted me, blocked me everywhere, and immediately hopped on dating apps); but I know for a fact I was the best guy she ever dated and she didn't know how to handle a real one treating her well unlike all the other bums she dated. I just want revenge at this point after her betrayal and the only way is to play the long game. I want her to attempt to reach out so I can reject her and tell her "you had your chance and you messed up, now live with it".
