Hello!! Amazing amazing work. I know it’s been a few years, but Im working on a boromir cosplay and would love to know if you have patterns for the pieces and some information on supplies? What dye did you use? Can I attempt this with a limited amount of leather working knowledge?
Hello, and thank you for your kind words. All my patterns are available at www.redsmithleatherwork.com. You can surely attempt it with a limited amount of knowledge. Pratice is the key to master a skill and mistake are part of the learning process. With time and practice, you'll know what dye you prefer compared to a different one, and that's how you'll get better at the craft. Have fun and thanks for watching!
Beautiful work!! Maybe a really dumb question but how do you get the pattern onto the wax paper? Thank you from a beginner!
Thanks you. You print it and then trace it on the wax paper. Or you can try to print directly onto wax paper. Thanks for watching
Hi man i really like the design and the passion you give in your videos, is there any chance to get the templates. I know this is an old video and you maybe threw the templates into trash.
Thanks! I really appreciate it. Sorry, but I don't have this one amymore, but I've got another one, close to it availabel here: www.redsmithleatherwork.com/product-page/leather-bifold-wallet-pattern Thanks for watching!
Ever tried a historical accurate board game from Viking Age named Hnefatafl?
Yes I make one for a client a months back.
So beautiful
Thank you very much!
Wheres ur gridded mat from ? Wonderful work
Amazon. Thanks a lot!
What stencil did you use I would like to try this
I used my own. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful! The fact you made this for your son is awesome!!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Hi ! Wich swivel knife and border tool you use and what colores you use for the finish ?
Hi. I used a swivel knife from Kyoshin Elle, brown dye and Super Shene finish. Thanks for watching!
An awesome video! A new BD is born! ❤
Thank you very much! 😊
Fantastic job! Just out of interest what lubricant / oil did you use when reassembling?
Thank you! I used sweet almond oil because that's what I had, but you can also use lanolin oil. Thanks for watching
Looks great, but still some bubbles noticeable at top red glossy surface. How to make without them?
Thanks. I should have used a torch or some kind of heat source to get rid of the bubbles. Didn't have anything at the time to do it. Thanks for watching!
Genial 👌🏽 from 🇦🇷
Thank you!!
Просто класс!!! 👍👍👍
Большое спасибо!!
Класс!
СПАСИБО.
All it needed was a clean up an handle.
Not really. Watch it again.
Arent you suppose to paint before you dye leather?
No, or your paint will get dirty because of the dye
Where'd you get the revolvers?
"Hello. Nice work/Cool video. Could you tell me where you got the revolvers, please?" Try again.
Look it was not meant to be rude. It was just a question. If you could tell me where you got the revolvers it would be much appreciated. Please and Thank you. It was a fun video. But your response was fairly rude.
@@christopherbrant8610 Your comment was probably not meant to be rude, but it was. I spent hours making this video and I owe you nothing. My answer was just pointing out that a "hello" or a nice word yo start a comment and and a question is how things are done in life. Politeness will give you all you want or need in life, even on the social media. I got the guns from Amazon. Let me know of you want the exact references and I'll send you the links. Have a good day.
@@RedSmith I would appreciate it if you can. And I apologize you're right. It was a very well made video and I enjoyed the little skits before and after
Thank you. I appreciate it. Here are the links to the guns : www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B000JWJ0RS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B000VBJGJE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's on the french Amazon but you can probably find them everywhere. Have a nice day.
I love seeing your shop! Awesome!
Thanks a lot! And thanks for watching!

Yes they soaked for 12 hours. As they should. Thanks for watching.
Pretty GOOD!!!!! 😊
Thank you!
Good Morning Red Smith I'm you're newest Subscriber. Hey Red Smith I love Native American Jewelry 👍🤣❤️ I make Jewelry myself
Good morning and welcome !
Absolutely beautiful work. I just came across an antique telescope as we were cleaning up my Mom's place. I don't know whether it belonged to my Mom's family or my Dad's family. Whatever the case, it looks very similar to yours when you started.
Thanks a lot. You just found yourself a family treasure. Take great care of it and have a nice day.

Bon courage !
Thank you for the tutorial!! I finished mine and would like to send you pictures! I’ll go to your website for an email. Thank you!!
Please do. And thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for the pictures Sandy. You did an amazing job!
Such an amazing craft you have! Thank you. I really enjoyed watching! ❤
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Amazingly beautiful, thank you for sharing! I was looking for a tutorial to make a feather Headdress for my grandson’s upcoming birthday of 3 years old and found this. A bit too sophisticated for a toy in toddler’s hands, but very inspiring! Loved the fabrication of the leather bonnet! ✨🌟⭐️🙏🫶🙏⭐️🌟✨
Thank you!
Wow!
Thanks
You look like a bounty hunter
Thank you!
Vraiment un beau résultat! Est-ce que tu utilises de l’époxy spécial ou c’est la même que tu utilises pour coller des manches?
Merci. J'ai utilisé de l'epoxy Cristal je crois, différente de la bi-composante pour coller.
boy a lot of work goes into this !!
Indeed. Thanks for watching!!
Por lo menos esto debería estar en la edición de colección y mandaron fichas baratas
Sorry but I don't understand your comment. Thanks for watching though!
Nice video thanks. After you dyed the leather brown, you used a white substance on the keyring - at 2m 04s. What was that, please?
Thanks. It's called Eco FLo Super Shene. It seals the leather and makes it shiny. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching
Hola amigo. 😮 exelente taller. Desde Perú un fuerte abrazo, hice una ballesta hace como 25 años sin internet ni videos, jajaja... gracias por tu video de la ballesta.
Muchas gracias por tu comentario y gracias por mirar. Saludos desde Francia

Thanks
@@RedSmith You're welcome
Im a bit dumb so i dont understand how you make the holes you sew in match perfectly with the parts
Lot of trials and errors to make the perfect pattern. Thanks for watching.
not quite sure it's up to traditional standards but it still is a very nice headdress you use a lot of modern tools and glues such as sienna acrylate that did not exist
Thank you
Hi awesome set…how do you add more weight to pieces- possibly fillling with metal or casting in metal somehow? Also how did you find the original design to sculpt form , did you just take another piece from another set and replicate it/scan it?
Thanks. The link to the set I bought is in the video description. You can add some weight in modifying the desigbn or glueing something to the bottom of the piece. Hope it helps, thanks for watching!
hello! Im a bit late and I just wanna say it looks amazing, I have a question, what did you apply to make it look like a crazy horse or antique leather? The yellow bottled one?
After I dyed the leather with brown leather dye, I used leather oil and a finish called Super Shene. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching
Excellent video. Can I please ask what weight / thickness leather you use for the cap?
Thanks a lot. I used 2.0mm thick leather for the cap. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching!
Can you build me one and I'll buy it?
Sure thing. Send me an email to [email protected] and we will discuss it :)
2 days ago I found feathers of a big bird, probably a in eagle. I watched this video two years ago for no reason. And when I found the feathers I remembered the video. Now I am planning to make this headdress, not exactly as shown on the video but I will do my best. I would love to share my result with you if I have chance.
Thank you for remembering!! And yes I would love to see your work when it's finish. Please send me an email when you're done at [email protected] ! Thanks!!😊
@@RedSmith Thank you very much, definitely will do :)
What is the height of the covers you wrapped around the feather groupings? I wish there are dimensions of the pieces somewhere. Thanks!
Here is the link to my Instructables. It might help you: www.instructables.com/Native-American-Headdress-War-Bonnet/
Thank you!@@RedSmith
You're wlecome :) @@sandyboyd2068
Can you tell me how long and how high the beaded portion of the headdress is? cm or inches would be great! Thank you!
Hello, it's about 22cmx5cm. Thanks a lot for watching!
You forgot to make slices in the pieces to accommodate the curvature. But thank you! I’m making mine completely out of plant material!
What is the length of your beaded headband? Thank you for the video!
22cmx5cm. Thanks for watching!
@@RedSmith Thank you. Mine is 29cm. I’m worried it’s too long. I guess I can always shorten it by taking some beads off
@@sandyboyd2068 Absolutely. Measure the length you need and create your design accordingly😊
How did natives made in the olden days?
Probably close to how I did it. Minus the crazy glue :) Thanks for watching!
The glue we used would have been made from animal products ~ same with the thread ~ but we didn’t use a bead loom
Great video!🎉 Quick question: how does the tension release work when you lift the pressure foot?
Thank you. Not sure I understand your question. Could you please explain ?
Beautiful work place! Wow that view 🙌
Thanks. Yes, I can't complain😊
This is what l wanted. No other leather hat making videos needed.
Thank you! Comments like yours keep the motivation high!
