How to Make a Whiskey Flask Leather Sleeve - Leather Flask #1 The Traditional Way

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've been wanting to make flask sleeves for a very long time. Somehow I was thinking that in order to make one, I needed a lot of tools and/or fancy equipment, or a very specific design. Then I realised I could just make my own, with the tools I already have and in my own style.
So I decided to make one. Then I made another one. And then a third one. Each time, I changed the style of the leather sleeve, and also the technique used to make it or to stitch it.
This video is the first one of a series of three in which I show the different styles and techniques you can use to make you own.
In this video called "the traditional way", I've used 1mm/3oz thick chrome tanned leather and my newly acquired gold foil embossing machine. The stitching technique is very simple and is just a cross stitching with white thread.
I hope you'll like the video and get inspired to make your own.
Stay tune for part 2.
As always, thank you for watching, be good, be safe, keep making, and see you in the next one!

It looks very nice. The simple stitching is cool, I enjoyed seeing the technique. What kind of metal ruler did you use to cut the final size after the rough cut out of the larger piece? I think I need one.

Thanks Dave. It's a ruler I bought in a leathercraft shop many years ago in Tokyo. Never found another one like it anywhere else, but I bet the internet knows where to find one... :)

Merci beaucoup !
