Great video! We put large gravel rocks in the holes before the wooden 4x4's so the wood can drain off any water it absorbs. Ours is 35 yrs old now and no rotten 4x4's. Thanks to Bob Villa's recommendation. years ago.

Seen all these videos before but I love rewatching them. Brings me so much peace I truly wish we could all just live a little more simple lives. Although building cabins is hard work, I wish I had the knowledge to be able to achieve this myself. Love your videos & your wife’s videos as well.

Everyone does things differently. We happily took out a $250k loan at a low rate, that should be paid off in 33 months (17 yrs ahead of time) and bought a 15 acre homestead 1/2 mile off the freeway. It has many improvements, new HVAC, new water heater, waterlines, multiple garden spigots, RV hookups, orchard, huge garden, it's a 5 bed, 3 bath 70s ranch, with a basement apartment, has an 1850s 17 horse stable barn, big chicken coop, wood shed, garden shed, tool shed, goose grotto and they're all Amish made and brand new. We ran almost 1 mile of 5ft tall non-climb horse fence. We're in our 40s and I say work your tail off making great money doing what you do making the most money you can and pay someone to do it for you. Stay in 1 spot! Moving and starting over as you age is silly! No one is going to give you a life skills test! Improving the land each year and aging in place is key!

For those wondering, Yes a shallow well pump and a hand pump as hes using can in fact pump deeper then says they do. Infact that is just the Maximum Recommend Depth to pump at. WARNING ⚠️ it will wear parts down much faster then intended if doing so depending on how much further depth, if itll even work. Just know to be careful!

And then there was that popular off grid youtube channel that got caught. Living in a $250k home in the burbs, bought 5 acres raw land, not far from the burbs, and started an off grid channel. Worked and lived in the burbs and then would drive out to their off grid life style to make videos, drive back to their home in the burbs at night. Worked for them for about a year when one of their subscribers caught them in the act. End of off grind living channel and shunned by friends, and neighbors. Same thing happened to a popular bushwhacker's channel. Bushwhacking on property behind his $25Ki house making people think he was miles from no where. Love both your channels. Thanks for your efforts to bring them to us.

Nice job, and diggin' on the mounting holes. I may have missed it, but what came to mind was if the tire was remounted in the same direction with the ol' radial tires last longer if they always get used in the same direction when rotating tires front to back vs cris-cross, sorta thing.

I had a 911 moment in 2019. I put a cabin on my property in the country. I'm glad I did as friends and relatives needed a break from the city during the riots and the madness. Best guest house investment.

I use fire to get the beads seated. I put the tire on the ground after I’m finished installing it onto the rim. I spray a little brake parts cleaner in between the rim and tire run the brake parts cleaner over the tire and onto the ground like a wick and light it as long as you don’t go overboard with the brake parts cleaner It’s not dangerous at all and I’ve done dozens of them like this with no issues. I don’t mess with a ratchet strap It’s a pain in the ass compared to doing it this way

I’m mount and balance my own tires but I’ve been having a problem finding quality tire valves that don’t pull fail when you install them. They’re all Chinese shit and about half of the valves that I put in I have to replace them even though they’re brand new because where the metal is bonded to the rubber it leaks air and eventually it will fail its like they did not put enough adhesive in that area and I have a about a 50% success rate Piss poor quality control very frustrating. I don’t like having to do the same job twice because of quality control could’ve been easily avoided.

this type of build was typical in my area for many, many years, back to the early 1900's. The good thing, easy to rewire by dropping a line from the attic to the basement. Downside, in a fire. Fire can shoot from the basement to the attic in a hurry.

i am making one from scrap at work - most of these are made in China. Beef it up and get a bar with nylon rollers and you wont damage the alloy wheels. Some people have made an adaptor for a duck head to fit on. Definitely need to be a lot heavier construction and bolted down well.

I like your tent. I think the reason they used to make camouflage tents is to blend in to nature and not to be so visible. Also a outside cover for the entrance and a door mat would be good too. The prices seems to be on high end but when you consider in 2024 price everything is going up. Quality is quality.

Those lucky to live in MI/FL have sandy soils and high water tables. Lucky you. Few rocks to deal with too. I can say in my area, you call a driller and have at it. And an electric pump in the bottom.

I just mounted mine to a pallet that has a sheet of plywood fixed to the top. That way I can move the changer around outside or inside or what ever. If you can put the tire in the sun to warm it up it makes things a lot easier.
